    Ppl say the 5.0 is the best, but I prefer the beam distribution of the G5-R. Happy to have them in my retrofit! I've got the same exact setup as in the vid, too lol - G5-R, 66240 CBI, Morimoto XB 2.0 35W

      The 5.0 is good, but after living with mine for almost a year, I regret the purchase and wish I'd have bought the G5-Rs instead. My preference for lighting distribution goes more along the lines of the G5-R where there's a nice bright spot in the center, but the light doesn't drop off so precipitously to the sides like current Morimoto projectors are doing. The effect is even worse with the MLED 2.0 projectors which in my humble opinion are just terrible, Corolla-grade projectors and not something I wouldn't recommend purchasing. I miss the 4300K color, which you won't get in the 5.0s. The CBBs are nice, but I'd rather have the classic HID color. Glad you're enjoying your setup, cheers!

  • @RetrofitSource
    @RetrofitSource Před 5 lety +11

    D2S 5.0 is king! G5-R is a good projector, but with too much focus on putting light in the hot spot, compared to the 5.0 it lacks in two ways: 1) The width wont be as strong, and 2) the transition from the hot spot to the foreground isn't gradual enough, leaving you with too much light on the ground close to the car, smaller pupils, and less ability to see long range.

    • @TommyBlazeHD
      @TommyBlazeHD Před 5 lety +1

      I noticed this as well. Although the G5R is a solid performer for a few dollars less than the 5.0, it loses width at the cost of a more intense central hotspot. I also think that the cutoff on the 5.0 is a little cleaner as well.

    • @TheKingOfHalo
      @TheKingOfHalo Před 5 lety +6

      Looks like the 5.0 has some dark spots on the edges. So the improved width isn’t that great. I’d rather have usable light in front of the vehicle and on the road than off to the extreme sides. That and a smaller cutoff step, since my Morimoto projectors throw light at street signs on the right but very little light on the left. I’m tired of blinding pedestrians on the sidewalk.

      Next time, ask these questions before you have the lights converted :) You've made a great choice. BRT is the main projector we use for conversions these days. Very reliable and very powerful. The G5-R has a threaded shaft so its easier to install on certain applications.

  • @Snicker60515
    @Snicker60515 Před 3 lety

    I remember watching this video and choosing the Morimoto over the NHK and now I regret buying the Morimoto. You can see that the light carries over more evenly off to the sides with the G5R than with the Morimoto, which to me matters more than the hotspot. That and the fact that the AR coated lenses ruin the color and make it too warm. Still a good projector, but after living with the Morimoto for some time, I wanna go back to clear lenses with my CBB bulbs!

    • @LightwerkzGlobal
      @LightwerkzGlobal  Před 3 lety +2

    • @TommyBlazeHD
      @TommyBlazeHD Před 5 lety

      G5-X has more centralized intensity. BUT!!! You can't Thread mount the projector! You have to either create a mount for it, or epoxy it in. If this is going to be your first retrofit, I would strongly recommend you use a threaded mount projector. The G5-R would be your best bet.

    • @LightwerkzGlobal
      @LightwerkzGlobal  Před 5 lety +1

      There is a higher chance of the projector bowl getting damaged due to the extra heat the higher wattage ballasts operate at. Also your bulbs wear down about 2x as fast. We just want our customers to be aware there is more risk going into it. Brightest bulb would be Philips White Vision in that range. Osram CBB if you want that bluer look.

People today don't realize just how bad headlights were 20 years ago. We have since moved on to free form headlights. It's a different world.
