      ART CORE that’s why I filed some of the shield away to reduce the uptick. Then I added a gradual uptick on the outsides to help with the cornering and now it’s perfect! The D2S 4.0 is AWESOME! Easily out performs the base LED headlights on the 2017 RX350 & 2018 530i.

    That 4TLR took a fair bit of time to warm up..... this is something I was a little worried about switching to HID's. Is that just a trait for this particular setup or are all HID's prone to a warm up period before achieving peak brightness? The last HID's I installed were in 2008 and they needed warm up time as well..... I had hoped technology had gone far enough to get rid of the whole warm-up deal.

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  Před 5 lety

      Certain ballasts take longer than others to warm up, but thats still a fact of life with all HID systems really. However, by the time you're out of the parking light, driveway, etc - you'll be at max intensity either way!

    Would u suggest using miromoto h1 7.0,NHK G5-R or the NHK MB1 2.5 for use on a e36 bmw euro conversion. There is 3 different price points but am COMPLETELY ignorant to HID technology. Is $70 going to be that dramatic of a change?

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  Před rokem

      For ease of install alone, I would go with the Morimoto projectors!

    • @TechTokOffical
      @TechTokOffical Před rokem

      @TheRetrofitSource they will all already be fit. These are the 3 options and price points available for e36 bmw euro headlights that had projector lens. There is a MAJOR difference to the halogens the US market got but I'm curious if there would be a MAJOR difference between projectors with the h1 7.0(least expensive)and the NHK g5-r(most expensive,$70 more)

  • @rfcdgaf
    @rfcdgaf Před 5 lety +1

    Yes but WHY would you choose say the FX-R over the mini h1, yes ease of install but what do you lose for that??

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  Před 5 lety

      Slightly more overall light output, really. All in all the FX-R isn't very popular these days because of how much more work it takes to install, versus the marginal (if any) gains in performance. Something like the D2S 4.0 is easier to install and out-performs it too.

    How would the Morimoto mini H1s 7.0 compare with the Aharon mini H1s 6.1 from retrofitlab? What would be a better choice when considering performance/reliability?

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  Před 6 lety

      The Aharon projectors from RFL are akin to the ACME Super projectors - which while are not bad, aren't anything special by today's standards either. The Morimoto Mini H1 7.0 is by far the most advanced both in terms of actual light output, but design & reliability. The solenoid & cutoff shield mechanism is the biggest upgrade, virtually impossible to get stuck in high bream , which is a very common problem with older designs including the "6.1" from RFL

    • @EisBlade
      @EisBlade Před 6 lety

      Suyog Singh Yes, HID and LED bulbs should go into projector housings only. I prefer to retrofit the low beam to projectors and use OPT 7 "X" bulbs (4200 lumens each) for high beam using stock reflectors for better spread since oncoming traffic will never see them.

    • @EisBlade
      @EisBlade Před 6 lety

      I'm surprised this company still puts so much into HID technology but whatever sells, right? HID has moving parts inside that decrease in performance over time whereas LED stays consistent.
