I am a very Catholic male. I think Muslim women are beautiful, Strong and powerful women. People that lack faith don't understand why we try to dress modestly. In fact, a man of faith loves women that are modest and respect their own sexuality. I believe that we can do this. We can go global and have global standards without infringing on local cultures. It really is a small world and there is no other way.
you very good Christian with respect may I suggest you just read the noble quran
+Nabeel Barhe
I have read it. I'm Christian. I have a personal relationship with the Blessed Trinity. God knows me personally and I dig it. It's about Love. If one says that they are of God and hate their brother, They are confused because God is LOVE
You must be a stupid pheophile morron then.
Bara Mundi yeah....and u r a really moral person
Crabtree

I do admire this lovely lady - She is amazing!
Jahan Mirzayeva exactly wat....
Qataris & Arabs Should be proud of her....!
We are proud of her.
Interesting how globalization affects cultural clothing but also encourages it because people become more aware of other cultures and want to keep their own.
Best comment I have read in the past 10 year.
i am a black american catholic by birth... and i do not want the loss of any culture on this palnet, thank you for keeping all of our cultures.. these things are more improtant than you think... how do we get knowledge if we only talk to ourselves in a mirror.. it works sometimes, but we need another point of view......if you are not afraid of what is true....... be well and thank you for this video,
One of the best Ted Talks
Laura Snip no
Mohammed Shareef yes
Laura snip
Laura Snip do you know why he said that? Because he is from the countries that Blockade qatar and they haaaatttee to see qatar as a successful country and the one of the most rich country in the world that make them feel so bad and they intend to say hate comments to let people think bad about us but every day we become a successful country and they become a backward country every day
@@fayalmarri227 yes u absolutely right.. I just see a lot of tamim's meetings in media.. am very proud of him.. I really don't know why arabic media even aljazeera in Arabic don't cover tamim's speeches!!.. He is the only arabic leader who talked & still talking about freedom & support arabic people's right to demonstrate for dignity.. It's very courage for him to continue by this great vision even thought the blockade of qatar.. May ALLAH Protect him & his country ❤️❤️❤️
What a perfect speech
This video has so many dislikes because she's Muslim and wearing the Abaya. That's so ignorant. People are so quick to judge based on looks and religious beliefs, most of the time it's the adults that are screwing up. To the one person asking about why Muslims come here to America and change their names/styles - I have the same question for you, why do Christians convert to Islam and change their names? The women even wear the scarf and marry Muslim men! I know may that converted and are happy.
Loved the concept of localizing the global tho
I am loving the architecture in the photos thats art and culture in itself :)
What a well presented speech 💬,,thumbs up to her 💪

GREAT FILM IN THE END!
ماشاء الله تبارك ابدعت في في خطابك وكلمات ساحره ربنا يثبت حجتك ويقويك
there are many things in this world it is you who deside whether it will effect you in a good or bad way criticising her or talking bad of her will not give you any gold medals but coming out in the world & expressing herself has given her success in life so do that for yourself & be happy pls
فديتك يا قطر
I dont understand why most of the comments are about her religion & abaya when the whole video was about development in ones country and improving thier economic & social connections with the rest of the world why is the choice of her religion more of an important topic then the original concept of the video
people are stupid and want to impose their own biased opinions/standards on others, regardless of the topic at hand. to them, the fact that she's wearing the abaya is provocative enough. and even though she's stating it's within her own will that she wears it, they still need to point out that somehow that's not true and she's oppressed. Gold stuff really, apparently you're oppressed if you don't wear a bikini.. just ignore them, enjoy the video!
People must be mad saying that honor killings and stonings are not pro-women, it's just a tradition in Islam! How dare they have an opinion on that!
Thats shows the immaturity how to see the biggest picture.
I am very proud of you my sister
Shah Alam me too ....
you are amazing human being. keep it up !
Well spoken and presented
Well Presented Her excellency

RESPECT. people in the qatar ,,,I think she gave an amazing speech 😎 impressive Muslims i am from pakistan i already gone qatar visit now i liveing crruntley in saudi arabia but my heart said need to go qatar in sacant time. this trute now qatar very good in earth
@IC1101 actually liking a culture that is predominately muslim without liking islam is completeley legitimate - I am Iranian and love the culture (much of it is actually pre-islamic) but that is separate from my feelings about the religion (although islam tends to be more intertwined with culture than most religions)
She was Muslim right ,,,,,,,I think she gave an amazing speech 😎 impresive Muslims
Amy Gomzalez lmao so what? there are many educated muslims around the world...
By the way , this girl , is one of our queens , qatari queens
Amy Gomzalez so you say that muslims cant give amazing speeches? so bc someone is muslim its hard to see them have humanitarian values?
Mr a and za nab may want to learn to see a compliment when one is given. So much hate out there, and violence, I know, but not everything is meant negatively. It was a very lovely Ted talk indeed.
Amy Gomzalez She is the daughter of the former Emir (Ruler) of Qatar and the sister of the current Emir.
yes I am proud of her mashallah
Awesome speech and proud to be Qatar
You are a leader and good person.
I admire you, best of the best
Excellent
I liked her last line that culture is an important aspect and we shouldn't ignore it as it can bring together eastern and western nations.
TED You've done it again.
Can't more proud ❤
@MrRyanSF her first name is Al-Maisaa which means swagger in English.
Shiekha is "from wiki" is an honorific in the Arabic language that literally means "elder" and carries the meaning "leader and/or governor.
@Tutorial4dummies Standing up for human rights is the greates expression of kindness, especially in times and places where it is popular to frown upon human rights out of cultural, political or religious reasons.
Sheikha al mayassa al thani.....love u dear ....
this best talk
thanks ! can we have more of middle eastern views so we can learn more about them - from their perspective for a change.
بارك الله فيك دائما

Let's build bridges between East and West Sheika Mayassa
She is an awesome , creative and smart Princess Sheika Mayassa
Thanks for your efforts to stabilize safety and security between East and West
ماشاء الله صاحبة كرزما قوية قيادية
I support anyone that helps more people to live good lives with as minimal as possible harm to others. If she is one of those people, she has my vote.
one Problem is many of us are educated into having hyper emotional sensitivity and not being able to take a joke about what we believe in... thus creating more options for people to get hurt.
mayassa mamaa god bless u
good start, there are many things which are not good. for eg. curtain rooms in restaurants , men wearing suits in other countries but girls not.
MashaALLAH ! Jazak ALLAH o Khrairan !
May ALLAH forgive us and grand us Jannat ul Firdaus = Paradise
cool talk!!
masha allah ,your great my sister ,,
Israel must be going definitely mad on TedX for allowing a muslim woman giving an impressive and awakening speech for woman.
great I saw a women she show the path of global women. Thank you for a nice speech
very impressive woman. That was not a speech, but rather "words of wisdom".
@jathgnos J.C. Penny?! That's a notch below Macy's, which in turn is below Bloomingdale's, which is a smidge below Sak's.
YES!
Amazing bold lady !!!
تحياتي ...
My dear sis i like and respect you..👏👏👌
@Pvemaster2 And there my friend, you hit the nail on the head ... exactly.
Long Live Sheika Mayassa Al Thani
This woman is smart ❤️
@VoiceOfAleppo Thank you for proving my point. :-)
You can, as long as it doesn't inconvenience people around you and if they're fine with it.
@jathgnos hmmm.... does this mean sooner or later we will get to see statues of them in front of stores with hands out, palm up selling cigars, like we do (used to) in North America with those Dime Store Indian statues???
Nice speech
Wow, so many of these comments are so ethnocentric. The point she is trying to make is that Arab culture (or any culture) should not strive to be as Western as possible; rather there should be a reasonable give and take between all cultures whether Western or Arab or African or East Asian. While Arab culture may not be utopia, lets not pretend our Western culture is either.
good English performance and easy understanding, congratulation, your in politician or?
could someone explain why this video has so many dislikes? I don't understand unless it's about what she's wearing which would make the viewers very superficial.
My problem is not the want for unique culture, it is the pressure for others to accept these cultures. Also, in some cases, the forceful nature of some people within these cultures trying to forcefully indoctrine others into this culture.
Nice let's maintain the good cultures and values
People thumbing this down without even watching or contemplating the material...
"Oh she's a muslim" "Oh she said 'globalization' in a sentence."
You people need to grow up and grow out..of your cultural influences that clouds your minds and restrains your thinking.
