Wastegate actuator - test

  • Is wastegate actuator failure causing your car's lack of power?
A malfunctioning wastegate actuator won't regulate fumes going to the turbine. Although still driveable, this results in lack of power and acceleration which means the car is virtually unusable.
In this film I'll show you how to check easily whether or not the actuator is working.

When i try to move the rod with my had i see the same thing. it doesnt always come back to normal position. could it be actuator issue or the valve itself. any advice?

Just found on another thread about someone with a similar problem i am facing. I have a slight drop in power only when trying to go uphill which is accompanied by vibrations too. and a continuous rattling while the engine is in the 1.5 to 2.5 rev range. the rattle is absent when i press the accelerator softly though. i was thinking wastegate problem or a boost leak.

I've only made the film to show if the actuator works or not. The old actuator didn't move at all. The part was actually changed in the garage so I'm sure if they calibrated it. But I've read it's necessary.
