  • Section 27 of the Indian Evidence Act states the type and extent of the information confessed by the accused in custody, which can be used as evidence and can be proved in the court as the direct part or link with the criminal act of the accused. This section assumes the part of the confession of the accused to be true which led to the discovery of the fact and can be used as evidence and proved in court.
    In this video from Legal Bites, Pankaj Sinhmar discusses Section 27 of the Indian Evidence Act in detail along with its scope of admissibility with the help of landmark verdicts.

    hello. thank you for such an informative lecture. Can you please tell me whether section 27 is applicable to the co-accused as well or only to the prime accused?

    • @LegalBites
      @LegalBites  Před 8 měsíci

      Section 27 is only applicable to the prime accused, and not to the co-accused. However, Section 30 may be applicable to the co-accused, depending on the circumstances of the case. We hope this clarifies your doubt.
      Happy Learning😊!
