Best Bissel Carpet Cleaner repair video on youtube! (because its the only one that has my model's design)
From some guy you’ll never meet, all the way from the U.K., THANK YOU.
Super cool.
Glad this could help you.
Hope all is going well in the U.K.
Have a friend I met years ago on Facebook from there.
@@WayneBarronsVlog yeah man, all good, well, except for this Covid shit. People just been losing their minds. Cant see it going away anytime soon. But hey, I’m sure there’s plenty of people making some serious fat cash out of this.
Mine is a model 9500 which is very similar and does not spray. A couple points and I learned these the hard way. 1. The heater core is aluminum and will corrode UNLESS the machine in completely dry when you put it into storage. Mine is corroded so it must be replaced. A new core is about $25 dollars on Amazon. 2. Do not leave the soap tank on with any soap in it and make sure you run clean water through the machine before you store. If any soapy water is left in the machine, this will dry and clog the lines and spray heads. 3. BE VERY CAREFUL taking the hoses off. They tear easily. I tore one of the lines that did not want to come off my spray head (pulled it with a pliers) and I found out it is very difficult to get the 5.6 mm (inside diameter) hose replacement. I ended up using standard quarter inch hose (which is just a tad loose) and wrapping some electrical tape around the inlet so the hose was snug and would not leak. If you clean the core and it still does not spray its most likely the solenoid regulator going to the spray heads and must be replaced (cheap part that costs a few dollars). At the end of the video he says the machine still does not spray correctly. This could be partially blocked spray heads or the solenoid is not operating correctly. Hope this comment helps someone. It was very frustrating for me learning all of this and looking at videos until I found this one. I didnt really want to throw away a perfectly good machine when the parts only cost me about 40 dollars.
Thanks for this -- it saved me. My Bissell ProHeat 2X wasn't spraying any water at all, and I'm no handyman -- I've never fixed anything like this in my life -- but watched your video, took my machine apart, cleaned out the heater core, put it back together, and my machine is working perfectly again. I didn't remove those top hoses that you did. Instead, I just stretched open the bottom part to the height leaving those hoses in would allow, and disconnected the water hoses and electrical connections on the heater itself, and removed it and cleaned it out at my sink! It was tricky, but there was just enough room to do it, and everything worked out well. I was concerned that if I disconnected those top hoses and took the whole top portion off, I'd have difficulty figuring out which hose goes where when reassembling. It was easier to just focus on the two hoses connected into the heater, at the point of those connections.
After you clean the heater core try cleaning out the plastic lines with some vinegar-water solution. Just add the vinegar and water to the hot water supply tank or the cleaning solution tank and run the machine with the spray nozzles detached so they don't get plugged up again with debris coming from the heater core. You can fill the solution tank and take the big water tank off the machine. Then attached the solution tank where the water tank goes. That will supply some water/vinegar to the pump and then turn it on without the spray nozzles attached so as to flush out the heater core and the tubing. Once the tubing is flushed out then you can attach the red plastic spray nozzles and put them back into place. That way you won't get the clogged up again with any debris in the hoses.
Yes, good advice...remove the red spray nozzles and run the vinegar (or whatever cleaning solution you desire) through the tubes. My guess as to why this man's vac still doesn't spray is precisely due to junk and crud in the lines getting clogged back up in the spray nozzles again.
OMG it worked! This vid is amazing. I have a slightly different model so I took a few pictures of the water tubes to see where to re connect them. It works better than ever now! Thank you!
I have watched quite a few videos this one was the best. He explained stuff very well. Especially if a (67 yo old lady) That's right old lady could watch this and apply it with understanding. Nice job!!
So happy to hear that.
Thank you so very much for the compliment.
Keep up the good work.
Wayne
Thank you sir! This worked perfectly for me. I was at my wits end until I discovered this video. You are the man!
Thank you for taking the time to do this video. Lots of valuable info. I appreciate your sharing with us.
Thank you SO much! Cleaned all the hoses and still clogged untill I followed your instructions! Thought I was gonna havta buy a new cleaner 💯❤️! Edit - hoses not houses 😂
I had to follow my video the other day and took everything apart this go around. But it worked, and now our living room no longer smells like dog pee and sick. Trust me, after a long time of smelling these awful smells, to clean it, what a wonderful feeling. NOW, time to put up the Christmas tree for my grandkids.
Merry Christmas, Bridget.
p.s. Ya gotta make sure you get them "houses" clean too. HAHA
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. huge help with cleaning out my heating coil. Save me a lot of money.
This video came in handy. I was able to fix my machine thanks to this. Thank you sir!!
Thank you for posting this video. With your help I was able to get my Bissell up and running again.
Glad this video is still helping people.
This unit no longer works.
Still sitting out in the storage building taking up space.
Had a different model but tried taking it apart to get to the heating element. Spent an hour fighting way more screws than shown here along with way more tubes. Basically had to disconnect the wheels to get to the heater. Managed to extract it, only to find that a single screw on the heater wouldn't budge and ended up stripped out badly. Spent the next 20 minutes absolutely destroying it on my back porch in rage. Totally worth it. Will never buy Bissel again.
😲😲😲😲
Ah very helpful video; thanks ! Unclogged ! my clog was in the tubing before the heater core. My Bissell ProHeat 2x Model 8960 has a similar setup; but it worked !
Thank you, found this very helpful and informative . Spent alot of time on line trying to get a step by step video tutorial on how to clean and unplug the hoses my bissell cleaner .
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! Saved me from throwing my machine out!!
Great video, keep up the good work brother.
Thanks bud. Watched this video and it fixed our issue. And to think my wife wanted to buy a new one.
Several of the red "O" Rings fell off the heater core when you put it back together. There should be 5 of them. They help seal the screws/holes to prevent water from leaking out. One fell out onto the Towel. One in the very center was still where it was supposed to be. The other three are missing. So if anyone else tried to do what you did to clean the heater core make sure that you don't lose those 5 "O" rings. Correction. I watched the video again and paused it to see more clearly. The red rubber "O" rings were stuck to the cover plate and not lost. I saw all five of them. Two were still on the heater core and the other there were stuck to the heater core cover. So you have all 5 of them. My mistake. But that is something to watch out for.
Very good video , mine is going out to the trash tomorrow .
Thanks for this. I have one with the same problem and this gave me the instructions on how to get into it and what to look for.
Thank you! This helped a lot!
Nice job! Thanks for helping.
Fixed the problem, thanks!
Trying this tomorrow. Thanks.
Excellent.
Thanks to this video, my Bissell 9400 Paperweight became a full-on carpet cleaner! My heating element was jammed with corrosion, calcium and slurm. No wonder it didn't spray! The only part of the video I had to watch a few times was reconnecting the hoses. Other than my wife going into apoplexy when she saw the thing completely apart, the process was just tedious but no longer a mystery. Good Video! Good guidance. Thank you!!
Yep. Cleaned out the heater on my Proheat 2x and it worked fine after that.
glad I found this , Bissell was NO help , wanted me to drive 400 mi to Atlanta to repair shop BS, after watching this I mite be able to solve the NO spray issue .
Very helpful 👍 🙂 thanks!!!
Ty so much
I did subscribe 😊
Excellent!!
Thank you for helping
Thank's for help,
Is,t possible to show a complete hoses place as it should be.
I used the machine some time ago, I forget to clean the solution plastic container, when i needed to use it again, it look like the solution dride inside the pipes(hoses) that carry it.
Kindly how the solution passes thru, how to clean the passages( I used white vinegar for 2 days it did not make to much.
Thank you in advance
Michel
thanks for the video
Only video that has the same cleaner like mine. The problem I am having is the part that covers the motor? will not fully go down. Still has a good 1/4 to go. I'm close to just cutting the whole plastic piece in half. As the flat part I can get flush. Then trying to figure out why the back piece will not go down without having to make sure all the hoses and such are not in the way each time I lift it up.
This is the second, or third, bissell I've had and they all have had problems.
Heater cleaned out (it was gummed up). Solenoid replaced. Nozzles cleaned. Vinegar rinsed. Tested it and it is only pulling water out of the concentrate tank and NOT the main clean water tank. Dumpster is the next step unless there is yet another fix.
FIRST Thing before you go any further, Check to see if your spray tips are blocked. Its very common and an easy fix.
Gracias bro
Thank You very much will start on my it save me money is in my pocket ...
I don’t have this machine but your video and peoples comments were very helpful. I opened mine up and saw white stuff ( soap?) in the tubes. I removed and cleaned the nozzles in the floor part and hand held bit. Then I put almost boiling water in the tank, squeezed triggers and managed to displace the dirt in the tubes before putting the nozzles back. It was spraying great. I reassembled it and don’t you know it’s not working! It’s not gone back together quite right judging by the on off lever and the tilt lever so maybe I’m pinching a tube. Oh what fun I can take it apart again! I now get how important it is to rinse after every use. I’m sure it was congealed soap.
Thanks!
I have a Bissell Proheat 2X. I watched your video and I am sure the problem with mine is the filters clogged (big silver box). While taking mine apart I noticed mine is deferent I do not have wires up top like your does. Is there a way I can send you a pic of the inside of mine and maybe you can tell me how I can fix it. I have two cats and a Siberian husky so I am almost positive it has to be that filter. Please let me know thank you D
thanks dude
Grateful for this video. The instructions are easy to follow. However, I just spent 5 hours completing it, got it all cleaned out really good, (it was horrendous) but I must have not gotten it put back together correctly because it still doesn't work. Also, I set it aside, and when coming back to the room, I noticed I giant puddle of water everywhere. I am so done as this took up my entire day. very sad it didn't work.
Sounds like the hose was not attached properly.
I had to follow my video myself the other day, and it was a complete mess after sitting for 6 years, but it all worked out.
I would take it apart again, watch the video and see where the mistake is. Trust me, it happens to us all. A LOT. So please do not feel discouraged from it. We all make mistakes.
Hi I live close by anyway you could look at my shampooer??
Good video, watching yours l was able to fix mine, l HAD SPRAY ALL THE TIME, l checked the micro switch in handle checked good, next pulled both solenoid next to motor both were closed and would open when energized now l was at a lost until you started to pulled out your heater there was an 3rd solenoid that supplied water from the tank to the heater and to the spray nozzles, there are 3 solenoid all the same part # B-203-6761. Solenoid for the sprayer was locked in the open position and that why it sprayed all the time, so if your trigger switch checks OK go to the solenoid next to the heater.
l swapped one good one and installed in place next to the heater put the bad in its place and the rest is history worked like a charm, order a new one $12.00 dollars will back in business.
Lionel Berthelon , i had the same problem, I had one selenoid next to the heater on the open position, changed but after I installed, it’s not spraying no more, I checked the pump and is working, any sugestión? I don’t know what else to do, any help will be appreciated, thanks
Good video main. I have the same vacuum shampooer and the carpet brush motor is not spinning. Need you to do a troubleshooting video of that too
Check the drive belt and see if it's slipping.
Mines doing this and has starting tripping the circuit out of my workshop when testing. So something is wet somewhere
followed your video to the letter, I thought. After putting it back together (no extra parts) I plugged it in and it did a1-2 second try on the motor and then nothing.....still nothing..What did I do wrong? There was still some water/vinegar inside the casing plastic where the heater thingy is, just residual no puddles. Help
Wonder if a solonoid is defective ??
Good video
Thank you.
If you rinse the system with clean water after every use, you won't have this problem. I did catch one little mistake in your repair, only because I also learned this the hard way.. You forgot to put the little orange O-ring gaskets back inside the heater.
Can you please let me know at what time, this is done in the video?
My Vlog rite at 11:58 there are 5 little red o-rings which set inside the heater. Four, one in each corner and the red one which you have in the middle.
Here’s a picture of how clogged up my heater core was when I pulled it:
drive.google.com/file/d/14nV28NMGhx62PyQfl5xQpIpUWw9l7YkD
How about disconnecting the heater core and just bypass it? Never turn it on again. Use the existing water supply line and re-route it. That’s what I did. And I put a piece of tape over the switch so I know not to turn it on ever again.
1980sLegoFan wow that was really clogged
Thank you but there were a few parts/pieces in your video that did not need to be removed in order to get to the heater. Thank you just the same.
I just wanted to add that my cleaner wasn't spraying out of the bottom, turns out that I needed a new trigger valve assembly in the hand tools part. Water was coming out of the hand tools thing but not the bottom, so check there if you have the same issue.
Could you possible provide a link for that, please?
My Vlog I don't have a link, I just fixed it. You open up the tool end of the wand and where the trigger is, on the inside is a little trigger valve with a spring on it. If that mechanism isn't working it won't allow the machine to prime. Unattach that from the hose, take it to a local Bissell repair place and get a new one. Works like a charm.
Or you can order any part you need from Bissell. If you kept the booklet it shows all of the parts with names and order numbers. There is no Bissell service where I live in Fl.

same problem. .I miss the old school Hoover it just worked all metal beast Hahaha
I was about to pull mine apart and put in Recycle bin. I spent the PM cleaning it up , The Inlet on the heater had some crud bilt up , used pipe cleaner and flat screw driver and some vinegar , clear water and cleaned it up .Put it all back togeather , Motor works fine BUT NO SPRAY at the heads which are clean .One thing I notice missing is the red cover that goes on the end of the little chemical bottle - which fits on the rear ... Now what ?
Can you go to Bissel online and get parts? You will need that part for the cleaning solution to get into the cleaner.
nov 2020, pulled mine appart and the Boiler heater had a rust hole in it. AND the pump motor would not start turning on its own, if manually spun it would get going.
I saw on the Bissel site that you can buy a new heater core for about $25. You can buy a new water pump for less than that. And the solenoids are for sale too. They are around $5 each and all three are the same part number.
That special tool is called an impact driver
another way to clean it out is put boiling water through the heater and that will melt out all the soap residue.
Thanks, for the information.
Your welcome.
It's been a few years since I last used my Bissel ProHeat 2X carpet cleaner. I read that you are supposed to dilute the Bissel Advanced Formula PLUS for carpet and upholstery. The directions on the Carpet Cleaner bottle says to add 8 oz of hot tap water to the cleaning tank and then fill the rest of the tank with the formula to the fill line on the tank. I'm not sure but I think that I used the concentrated formula in my tank in the past. In any case, I know that my water company supplies my house with very hard tap water. The heater coil surely got clogged up with calcium carbonate from the water inside the heater core. My machine won't spray any water now. I tried taking it apart on the floor in the living room just to see what was wrong. Getting down on my knees is not a good idea. I"m 69 YOA now and my knees can't take that abuse anymore. I have lots of health issues with heart disease and cancer so I feel lots older than 69. I feel like I'm 95 years old. If you work on this machine it would be best to have a table to put the machine on while you work on it. And take pictures of where the hoses and screws go so you can remember how to put things back together. So of the screws that you removed on the back of the machine were hard to see in the video. So I was leary in taking my machine apart. I got to where you disconnected some hoses on the water pump but stopped there as it was midnight and I was too tired to go on. So I put everything back together. I could see the heater core but could not get the top lid off to get to the heater core. I want to remove the heater core completely and soak it in a hot vinegar solution to clean it out well. I may have to have more time to complete that task if I chose to do so. Starting at 6 PM and taking until 12 AM is not the way to go.
Please help I'm confused on the hoses could u save my life?
At 11:00 you lost the top left corner o-ring when you flipped the heater over. :-)
Did you ever get it to work ? The one I have is really being a pain. I got to screwing around with this thing. I cleaned those little red injectors like you showed. Hooked it all back up one side almost worked and the other nothing. So I took off both injector's. And got a pitcher of water and poured it water thing goes. And pulled the handle. It took a few seconds or so and the water started to flow. Some clumpy nasty looking crap came out. I ran a couple of pitcher of water through and it seems to work. Before I put the injector's back on I checked and had to reclean them. I used a wooden tooth pick. I put the water thing back on and it seems to be working. Hope this helps.
Hey, William.
Well, define "Work".
It seems to only shoot out the soap on the left side, and the right side, not so much.
I may have to take it back apart again, so check some more things with it.
I was able to get the stain that I mentioned at the beginning of the video up, as well as a few other stains.
However, I really do wish that it would work like it did in the beginning.
When these things set for a long period of time, they do not tend to work properly any longer.
It is a pain, but, what can you do, but try.
Wish you the best.
Wayne
William Wynn to
Just put it in the clean water tank and press the spray. The boiling water will do the work.
Where do u put the boiling water? In the tank
@@josayuffre yeah, in the bladder. Hot as possible without destroying or melting the plastic bladder.
Im from NC and my hands are slow...lol
I took it apart, cleaned it.....NOW I CANNOT GET THE FILTER HOSE DOWN ENOUGH TO SCREW IT CLOSED...LMBO
LOLOLOL
What part of NC?
I'm originally from Durham but I've lived in Orange co for 12 years.
Sanford. (Between Fayetteville and Greensboro and raleigh)
Which part of the video are you having issues with.
And so sorry, for the really late reply.
My Vlog
Hey...no problem.
I done exactly what you done..step by step.
It just will not spray.
try putting HOT water in it.
Another person, somewhere in the comments here, stated that he put HOT water.
That bladder will hold it right hot.
So, get your tap water to the hottest point it will go, and fill up the bladder.
(Do not burn yourself)
And then see if it will help clean out the settlement.
I have to do the same thing to ours as well, once I get it out of the storage building out back. :)
Call me, Wayne.
My Vlog
Ok thanks so so much
did everything step by step, only to find out the heater was spotless not an oz of dirt or build up,, SO put it all back together and TA DAAA still no spray noplace not from the sprayer tips nor from the hose wand,,,,, so now what ?
I have a bissell proheat 2x and mine stoped spraying the first day I used it and I bought it new from Walmart. I think it is safe to say bissell is junk. Don’t waist money on it.
What it boils down to is a very poorly designed vacuum. Bissell should have a recall on these vacs or be willing to repair them for free.
prime the machine
Tell us how you prime the maching. I don't have my manual with me as I took the machine to another house and forget to get the manual. It's a 40 mile drive to the other house just to get the maual.
Before you guys waste 20 minutes watching this video check your belt. I can’t tell you how many times the belts been out of place and made me panic
How long did you watch it before you posted this comment?
I just found out why mine don't work. Wife used powdered tide in it.
Despite all efforts my pos is still nothing but a boat anchor. Nearest. Repair center is a 2 hour drive one way and demands $75 up front. I work at a place that sells this line of crap but I will never let anyone buy a Bissell product without a fight. May this company and all who work for it rot in hell.
Word.
COULD NOT AGREE MORE.
OHM out them selenoids
What are you referring too?
I just figure I'll junk this thing and buy something else to clean my carpet. My time is worth more than going through the entire system and trying to fix everything. Either that or I'll hire someone to clean my carpet
dude seriously, mark the wires and pull it, use a bristle brush and some compressed air, blow out all your lines as well.
I had such a mess of buildup inside mine, I ran a 5% muriatic acid to water solution through mine, then ran 2 tanks full of clear water, works like new
