  • In this video we design and build an aluminium canopy for my Landcruiser.
    We use a CNC pressbrake, a CNC plasma and a TIG to fabricate it all before paint.

    Nice work Richard! How the doors/seals/gutters/floor level etc were constructed is so well thought out. Plus the paint job is mint👌🏼 Looking for to the fit out and 12 volt set up videos

    Quite an interesting video seeing the way you've done this, I'm an apprentice fabricator working in the ally canopy/4x4 accessory industry spending a bit of time on the tig and a lot of time on the brake press. Very nicely done, looks sweet.

  • @Sethjxl
    @Sethjxl Před rokem +2

    OK, the solution to the 50mm lip at the bottom is so brilliantly simple. All other canopies I've seen have to have a false floor put in, which makes access so much worse.
    Very nice.

    Far out that is mint Richard. Grab some insulation material (high density closed cell foam for example) and place inside the roof and doors of the canopy. I did this with mine and it really cut the heat down.

  • @1SweetPete
    @1SweetPete Před rokem +1

    I don't think the colour matters that much, all paint is black in infra red. The fact that an organic material like paint is conducting to aluminium will heat it as much as anything, but aluminium has a pretty low convection rate and high conductivity, so it should stabilise some of the heat out as a heat sink. That said, most of your surface area is inside, so if it really doesn't want to stay cool and cooks your shit, cover the top of the roof in aluminium RHS before adding your accessories on top. That will offset back down closer to ambient at least, for little weight addition.
