  • In this video we’ll be making a charger drawer from scratch which forms a part of a drawer set for my canopy fitout. The drawer set will be constructed from aluminium and is also going to contain a regular drawer and a fridge/freezer. This video will take you through the cutting, the folding, the welding, the assembly and finally the overall design.

    That latch handle on the slides is awesome. I will need to remember that. The whole setup is awesome.

    Gday, I think this is a top setup, the charger draw with the cable tray is brilliant, I wish I could use cad better and be able to design like this, me and fusion are slowly become like each other, great job as always mate, cheers

    A lot of thought goes into these designs and it really shines through in the end product. Love seeing the build progress and look forward to the revised editions and final product!

    If you don’t need the full deep in the charger draw you could make a pull out table that goes underneath it. It would only reduce the depth by about 50mm and it would give you heaps more work area.

    Hi Richard, love the video and clear description of how you built your drawers, just an idea for version 2.0 you could put a 15mm fold in in the top edge of the drawers to remove the need for pinch weld and also ad strength to stop the potential Bowing of the drawers sides. Keen to see the kitchen setup in the next vid

    Nice work mate, for someone self taught with Ali TIG you're killin it. Stripper disc is a good step for prep, then acetone, Acetone, ACETONE! good wipe with a lint free cloth and let it evaporate, then go for gold!

    Definitely would look at a slide out table under that charging draw it looked like there was enough room to still fit all the gear plus the table

    Thought you'd consider the rear Tyre and Jerry can hangover. Might create extra weight since your adding draws and things into the canopy.

    top work mate, have even more respect for you and the build now after starting to learn cad. out of interest, do you run a foot pedal on your tig?

    • @DesignedandBuilt
      @DesignedandBuilt  Před rokem

      Thanks Brady! I learnt with a foot pedal but can weld without it now. I still weld most aluminium with it if it’s on my weld table, if it’s hard to get to I just run the hand control!

    Now that you’re 10months post build I would love an update. I’m looking at doing something similar but wondering how you have solved the movement/risk of damage while underway. Also if you have made provision for cooling. I know my drone gets pretty warm while charging.

    • @DesignedandBuilt
      @DesignedandBuilt  Před 3 měsíci

      Hey mate, no dramas after 10 months! Working like a charm. Not much I would change apart from possibly making it a little more organised in there.

    • @DesignedandBuilt

    Having been a chippy for 20 plus years and having had so many tool box layouts. Its not intiy you use them forna while that you learn what you like and don't like. But looks like you have put a heap of thought into these. And your at least not working with 18mm ply and a skillsaw😂
