To get better at pronunciation: shadow audio that you’ve already listened to a lot; that could be the LingQ mini stories or CZcams videos or the radio etc. Also research about the pronunciation so that you can pay attention to it when you’re shadowing or listening, eg where in the mouth to pronounce certain sounds, if it’s a stress timed language, syllable timed etc. Even if you do this for 5, 10 minutes it’ll be of great benefit. And speak a lot so it will become more comfortable and natural.

I'm a Chinese, proficient in English, got no problem talking to English speaking people on any topic I'm familiar with. However, when I started learning German three months ago. All that confidence and experience I've accumulated with learning English don't seem to work that well any longer. Now I see this elder gentleman speaking my language almost as fluently as a real Chinese do and speaking so many other languages as good as he does Chinese. I am amazed and I think I can really benefit from this channel on my way of Deutsch lernen.

    相较于读和写,我宁愿倒向说和听。语言学习是一个模拟的过程,后者会更高效;据说对于记忆最高效的是嗅觉,但就语言学习而言,听说是最为高效的
Comparing with Reading or Writing, I would rather Prefer Listening and Speaking. Language learning is a process of simulation, and for this matter the latter is more effective with no doubt. Smelling is reputely the best method for memory. But for language learning, Listening and Speaking are most effective.

Hi Steve, I would to star with Chinese Mandarin, what do you recommend for the first step? Learn traditional character while listen something? My focus will be first at read and listens . It’s a personal project so is not hurry up. Thanks a lot, you are an inspiration!!

I advise you to learn simplified characters, in mainland we all use them. Traditional characters are just used in Taiwan Province, Hongkong and Macau.
Besides the traditional is much more complicated than the simplified.
