You can see the intelligence and evolution in the mantis compared to all other insects. It’s supreme above all else
what intelligence ? They detect movement and jump on small moving objects. Super basic like pretty much all insects lol
@@foxmulder7436watch video again, the mantis does not look extensively at his prey for no reason, let alone fear, he's analyzing it, trying to find the best spot to kill it easy and quick. Not every insect does this, for they are not as capable (both by intellect and physical attributes)
@@marcowashere1615 there is no analysis going on. I love mantises and I've kept a lot of them. They have a set of hunting moves they always use and act depending of the size of the object. You can easily trick them with fake "insects" : a small piece of paper that you agitate in front of them will do the job. They don't look for a "best spot", they will simply start eating whatever is in front of them after grabbing a prey and follow the exact same eating procedure every time.
What makes you think they are "smart" is that those hunting moves and eating procedures look elegant and refined, but I can assure you they're entirely programmed and do not result from any kind of thinking. A Mantis is not smarter than an ant or a bee by any means. Actually, ants and bees seem to be able to react to more stimulis (pheromones based especially) so I would rate them actually higher in terms of IQ. If that means anything for such small brains

A moment I'll never forget; I brought in some laundry from outside and on the clothes hanger was a praying mantis, which quickly caught the attention of my cat. They did the dance of death for a few seconds, circling each other. It all ended when my (rather cowardly) cat took a proper swipe right to the nose and subsequently lost all taste for battle. Still, I was delighted to see it play out. I then caught the mantis in a glass and released it back into the garden.
Am I the only one terrified by the fact that a mantis is literally a walking pair of razor blades, attached to a laundry chute, with an expandable bag at the bottom? That's pretty disturbing if you ask me.
