When you're new to animation you always choose the IK as they do the work for the arms. But if you want to make a nice arc with the arms: almost 15 key frames is needed to do for a simple rotation.
    I did that :p

except for walk cycles i use IK i feel its the best i get more control while animating in IK .. Fk to me personally feels more work . IK has lot of stigma around it my lead says switch to FK it will be good for arcs but am very comfortable with IK and arcs are not a problem for me and my supervisor has says use any it doesnt matter as long as end result comes out good without wasting much time . Now am good at IK so why go try Fk it hinders my speed .

How do you animate characters in slowmotion? Always wondered about this.... Do animators do it while animating or is the slowmotion added in post after the animation is done?

You can go both routes, but usually the better option is to do it while animating. So you animate the slow-mo into the shot. Animated films are 24fps, and so slowing that down in post would make the footage look choppy.
