My personal feeling is that Russia is desperately trying to capture as much ground as possible before the spring for several reasons. Again, my sense is that the Russian high command is terrified of what will happen once the F-16's come into the battle space and the newly sourced artillery ammunition starts making its way down the supply chain to the Ukrainian forces.

Bihilorivka seems like a long term disaster area for the RF including the disastrous river crossing of 2022. No mention of the Russian volunteer milliatant progress in Belgorod. Why does Ukraine not occupy and dig in? They need to hold it if ever they want negotiate.

Surely if Ukraine can close off access north of the giant sand basin south of Krniky this would be logistically very useful as a significant bridge head. UKR clearly would need F16 air cover with Patriot to develop a bridgehead.
