    Its obvious that the Sodder children were not in the house at the time the fire started. As a health professional, I know that there are always skeletal remains even after cremating a body at 2000 degrees. mAs there were no remains, that means the children had been removed/lured out by the perpetrators and the house then set alight. Someone really hated the family or George and wanted him dead. My theory is that the Sodder children were disposed of/murdered soon afterwards as they were of no use. The poor parents, never gave up hope of finding their babies

    Great podcast :) such a sad but fascinating case. Here are a couple of additional interesting facts if you’re interested. In regards to the picture of Louis that was addressed to the mom, Jennie, she did had a brother named Frank Cipriani, who could be “brother Frankie”. The Sodder family had initially suspected him because he lived in Florida. There were witnesses who saw the children get into cars with Florida licence plates. Even the Sodders believed this theory that Jennie’s brother took them because it would’ve been someone they knew. Thank you again for a great podcast.

    This story is wild. One thing touched on that was the first thing that came to mind when I learned that George was an Italian American in the coal and excavating-trucking business- mob doings here can't be underemphasized. Recall that mob control of the West Virginia unions are what, together with similar influence in Chicago won JFK the presidential election. I don't buy the Mussolini angle. By wars end most Italians and practically all Italian Americans were anti Mussolini and the government had well before coopted mob leaders in America to help defeat Mussolini. It's well documented. True there was an anti communist backlash that followed wars end as communist organizations formed from the Italian resistance vied for power in Italy but that didn't equate to support for the then defunct and dead Mussolini administration and leader. What is troubling is that back then the American mob bent over backwards not to kill family members so why torch this guy's house. And oh yeah, how about the guy who warned him about the whole Mussolini thing having a name like some old civil war general. And how do you shorten some Italian last name to "Sodder". Great story somebody should be able to solve if they got Jennies DNA on all those sites people use to find relatives. It's just a matter of time I would think.

      That's correct. My niece, her husband & their 5 year old son were murdered & the killers tried to incinerate them by burning the house to the ground, with them in it. The adults had more than half of their arms & legs gone & the baby was only a whitened bare skull. Unfortunately i saw the photos & sifted through the rubble with my sister. There were many pieces of bone shards in the ashes.

    • @annalisette5897
      @annalisette5897 Před 2 lety +1

      It has been reported, though I do not have a source or know if it is correct, that Mr. Sodder stored gasoline in the basement of the house. The house may also have had a coal chute and coal in the basement. If this is true, it is thought the heat from combustion of these substances would have been even more efficient than an official crematorium. This is a for what it's worth because I do not have a source.

    There seems to be something suspiciously disquietening about this case. Are there no members of the Sodder/Soddu family left in Sardinia or Italy? Didn't George have siblings? I know he had a brother who went to the US with him and then returned to the home country. What about Jennie? Did she not have siblings. I find it hard to believe that there seems to be no one around who knows anything about the family Sodder/Soddu. This seems to be more than just an 'I hate Mussolini, the Mafia and Life insurance' case as people claim George saying.

  • @evdaribarovski5698
    @evdaribarovski5698 Před 2 lety +4

    What a tragic story to.
    lose 5 children. So many people involved trying to solve what happened to the other 5 children. Surely there would have been screams from the children being kidnapped at the time of the fire.
    Plus the eldest boy was old enough to know who his parents were and yet no attempt was made by him to find the rest of his family. Lots of red flags.
    This was a very baffling and intriguing case. And an extremely difficult case to solve. The FBI should have been involved in the case
    No justice for the family
    My theory is that perhaps the children were taken and murdered somewhere else. Because if I was a 14 year old knowing who my family was why didn't you try to find his family along with the rest of his siblings. If they were alive after the fire no contact whatsoever. My conclusion is they were murdered.

    This is horribly sad but I don't think it's much of a mystery. Some local thugs didn't like this family and burned down their house. The children died in the fire. They were probably reduced to bones that were covered by ash and debris. These remains were then buried or destroyed when the dad bulldozed the property. Everything else that happened afterward is just noise, just a family trying to make sense of the horror they endured.
