Very underrated band. They definitely need to get in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but because of them not being a big name in America they probably won't.

RHOF is a damn joke. They keep putting in rappers instead of the real rockers like Slade.

You said exactly what I was going to say. the Rock and Roll hall of fame is a joke. they sold out and let the rappers take it over. the musicians that are inducted into the HOF shouldn't be forgotten. but as for inducting anymore musicians forget it.

Their worst song. Your nostalgia will die. Quiet riot will keep them alive with a world first number 1 heavy metal album.

Seriously. No mention of their comeback.ozzie at the last moment pulled out of Reading. Said get Slade. They laughed at this. They had no choice. Slade walked on in front of a hostile crowd of 60,000. 45 minutes They left the stage in pamdomanina. Next day the music press had head lines. Slade slaughter Reading. Yet still thinking they were had beens were against Chandler booking them at a theatre with a capacity of 3,000. An hour later Chandler got a phone call. Slade said. We told you not to do this. Which Chandler replied. It's already sold out. The concerts started getting bigger. Put out a single We'll bring the house down. Peaked at number 10 so big now they co headlined Donnington castle Acdc. What's neglected was they were playing at the same venues during their so called glam say. ( Look at their opening number at Newcastle. Look at Noddy taking full control in front of 25,000 at Locheim). My oh my was such a monster hit. They received a gold record. One day someone will know what they are talking about when it comes to SLADE

Yeah he respectfully turned down AC/DC. but he was very flattered that Malcolm and Angus thought of him to replace Bon Scott.

Whatever happened to Slade was in late 74 they pissed off to America for two years abandoning their loyal British fans in search of the Yankee dollar. They flopped and came back forgotten by almost everyone except for their hardened fans. There was even graffiti on walls asking 'Whatever Happened To Slade'. They took their next album title from that. It took Ozzy pulling out of the Reading festival to give them a second chance.

Could you make a video about "Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds"? It would be great; they were so underrated, incredible musicians who should have had much more success. All of their songs are fantastic.❤

Not very complete… You forget to mention their huge succes at Reading 1980 that fact brought them back to the eye of the music scene!
Also Jim Lea made a few recordings for cd and Don Powell has his own band these days.

Good effort but jumped about a bit. I love anything about Slade. You missed out the 80’s revival was due to an appearance at Reading Festival replacing Ozzy, whos band weren’t ready. Slade rocked a metal crowd. You should really listen to some interviews on CZcams , get a more linear feel . Enjoyed it though 👍

I bought _Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply_ on vinyl after hearing both "My Oh My" and "Run Runaway" and seeing the videos. It has 10 tracks on the album of which 6 were really good. Noddy Holder was in great vocal form. Although it wasn't clear what style power ballad "My Oh My" was, it became clear from "Run Runaway" and other songs that this was a Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band. Being as I was just getting into Heavy Metal at the time (in 1984), Slade made their big comeback at the right time for me. Unfortunately, it wouldn't last long, although I did like "She Shela" from _Rogues Gallery_ in 1986. But that would be their very last hurrah. It makes sense, though: At that time the Metal world was split between the NWOBHM bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, other 70s Metal bands like AC/DC, Whitesnake, Scorpions and Accept, and the burgeoning Glam-Metal bands like Mōtley Crüe, Ratt, Dokken, Europe, Cinderella and Poison, and therefore Slade jad nowhere to fit there. It's ok, though, as Slade was definitely a part of my wonderful high school Rock 'n' Roll years. 🤘🏻

They got a huge following in St Louis and I saw them open up for Black Oak Arkansas at k e i l Auditorium in 1976. The singer who had a really big hat on was entertaining however they are just not a band that sticks with me being as I primarily was into progressive rock. It was a good time though you could cut the pot smoke with a knife😅
