When Rick says he has no problem with Rossi seeing himself as number one in the band, speaks volumes. A double edged statement, Rick being very diplomatic and as always cool as 10. Can’t believe he’s gone and Alan too. ✌️💙

Rick wasn’t being diplomatic he was sitting on the fence. Ricks balls were in Rossi’s hands. Everyone likes to love Rick but Rick stabbed Coughlan and Lancaster in the back.

Alan shouldn't have moved to Australia, but he wanted to do real estate investments there, as Rick said elsewhere. Being a band's member but living as far away from the other members as it's possible on Earth wasn't a good idea and it didn't last for too long.

    • @polythenewrappedme6102
      @polythenewrappedme6102 Před 7 měsíci +5

I agree. Rossi became too big for his boots just because he is the 'lead' guitarist. You can tell from listening to them talk. Rick is too nicer chap.

  • @alanstrom2221

I remember hearing a story about Rick having a 'meltdown' at an airport, where he had a verbal tantrum about being #2 behind Francis being #1 in the Band.
May be he'd forgotten about that too or was he being diplomatic for the interview?
We all know that Francis thought he was #1.
I think Lancaster is a lot of QUO fan's favourite Band member.
    He is mine.

Coughlan, Lancaster, Parfitt (although Parfitt was sneaky) and the Italian ice cream salesman and coke addict Rossi would be my ascending order.

@@fromthemakersof5529I think you have a point when you say ‘No Frame, no Quo’. Every band has to have a leader to get it through the thick and thin. Sometimes it falls upon someone. Other times a person claims the position, but someone has to be captain, or the band would have faded away due to lack of direction, substance abuse or whatever. You heard Rick say he couldn’t remember all the stuff. The downside is the band goes in whatever direction the ‘captain’ want to take it. Remember Paul in the Beatles. Nobody really cared except Paul. I’m not saying I particularly like the direction Francis took the group either, but if he wasn’t in charge where would Quo be?

Been a Quo fan since the 70s. I don't get why Rick says at 3:20 that it was the 4 of them (the Frantic 4). Roy Lynes had already been in the band for a few years when Rick joined. Rick became the 5th member. Roy was still a member of the band for a few years after Rick joined. Wonder why he airbrushed Roy out of their history.

Rossi was the narcissist and egotist, greedy too, he thought he was Quo and everyone else was secondary and replaceable.
There’s always one of these assholes wherever you go in life, they cause heartbreak and anger and destruction around their gigantic egos and ambitions and it’s always at the expense of kindhearted genuine people.
What a shame Rossi is like that, I wonder what people like him think about in the quiet moments, does the greed, the money, the fame, the control and position actually mean anything good?
Screwing your friends over for money and position is a low act and speaks volumes about Rossi and his values, such a shame.

Interesting interview but I think Parfitt is misguided when he states there was no pecking order etc. Although not a fan of the Quo I recall the early pop - sike days ; Ice In The Sun et al and it was very obvious that Rossi was the main man . Lead vocals, with presence and charisma he was always the man who did the interviews etc. Lancaster however you look at it was not the face of Status Quo in my opinion

  • @Oscartherescuedog

Poor Rick, you should have stood up to the bully Rossi a lot more and stopped him from sacking Coughlan and then Lancaster and then turning Quo into an embarrassing ‘medley’ wedding band with Rich and Rhino and the skeleton Bown. Parfitt sat on the fence and took his orders off the ice cream salesman Rossi. Parfitt lacked balls and sold his soul instead of backing up his band mates. There, I said it I feel better now. 🖕🏻
