#statusquo Francis Rossi Status Quo - The Writing of 'Caroline' @statusquocom @UnofficialStatusQuo Matchstick Men, Publishing, Songwriting @OfficialStatusQuo
My dad , was a much saught after semi pro musician and he loved quo , he played jazz , trad , freeform and he swung big time , but he heard something in status quo that had him tapping his feet . Bless the quo , finally a common ground , small but there . 👍
I love Francis and will be forever grateful for the fabulous band he formed, which has provided a sound-track to my life. But...I do find it funny how he continually seems to either pretend not to understand or, has some kind of major blind spot to how many of his fans see a massive divide between that sweet spot combination of hard driving rock and sweet melody (eg Caroline) and music which is more akin to prancing round a Maypole (Burning Bridges). He's right, the notes don't know, but the former Quo Army do! The Foo Fighter's lyrics are far from cliche heavy metal "macho" land which Francis obviously detests, but they seem to have stayed in that heavy-but-melodic sweet-spot in a way that Quo, all to frequently, don't.
I have always been a fan of compiling my own 'Best Of' compilations, playing my Tape's back in the day. I had ELO 'From Time To Time', T-Rex From Tyrannosaurus - To T-Rex Status Quo was 1968-1986. You cannot beat making your own selections, however and I know everyone will not agree, I don't like 'Rocking All Over The World' Love Caroline, the B-Side Joanne is beautiful
Iv'e been embarrassed by RAOTW since becoming a Quo fan, yet ironically it is the song that grabbed me and made me a Quo fan. Here I am 50+ gigs under my belt and it's one song I really can't stand anymore.
My altime favourite Quo Song. My phone ringtone and already going to open my funeral arrangmennt. Wriiten in Perranporth hotel. My sons home and holiday location for years. Doug Yates
Francis Rossi's a hoot....'The world needs me'😅......great insight into the process and the songwriter's understanding...or not...of the quality of the song they are writing.....thank you for posting this video.
The only two Quo songs I dislike enough to actually skip over them are Margerita Time and What You’re Proposing. I just don’t get those two at all. But all bands and artists have tracks that divide opinion within the fanbase. Bob Dylan had multiple albums that did precisely that! I love Burning Bridges, always have. And who doesn’t like RAOTW?
I like Rockin' All Over the World but not as an end song to the set. It should be in the middle. I do appreciate why they now end with it though. As for Marguerita Time, I only like the studio Aquostic version. Love What You're Proposing though. Less keen on Burning Bridges but it's better now the main solos are guitar-led. Not so fussed about In the Army Now but Frabxis recently did a good short solo version of it in a promo clip for his Tunes & Chat tour.
Talking of what embarrasses some, practically all of Quo's stuff from the eighties onwards was pretty naff, especially spending so much time on TOTP and displaying it to the wider audience.
I'm a House DJ. I adore Status Quo, as does Groove Armada. Rossi is a Hero of mine. Seen the band many times.

Brilliant Comment..Sir. Had a similar experience with my Late Dad. :) He was a Decent Drummer, Singer. Ok Guitar player lol ..
What an amazing song, definitely my favourite Quo track and so much fun to play on guitar
Caroline is my favourite Quo song because of my old girlfriend. Her name was Janet.
Funny😂
Could listen to him all day long. Good story teller.
😂😂😂I always sing “c,mon sweet Evelyn “😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
Francis is like that in real life away from the camera too.
He likes a good chat.
He is spot on with the giddy up thing!
The song that got me into Quo as a raw 14 year old. Love them to this day a few years older. 😂

That top is a true reflection on where there music is today.
RAOTW written by john fogety of CCR of course
Classic. Great version by the Quo
he's hard to understand, in hes own world.....however Caroline was one of the great tracks of the 70's
No wonder Coghlan walked.
@@grobbler1He was pushed.
Not an easy character to work with, I imagine.
One of my all time favorite songs with a female name title.
Get a kid to listen to "Mean Girl" .... they're either a Quo fan for life .... or they're not.
🎉🎉🎉😊
I agree thinks he's better than anyone else

Proposing is so exiting
Apparently, What You're Proposing is about leaving a restaurant and getting runny noses from a bit of Charlie in the toilets.
@@jamesabbot-cole6814 Francis explained that it's about a young lady who propositioned him!

Why doesn't Status Quo come to Brazil?
They don't like the Coffee :)
Estuvieron presentando Heavy Trafic en San Pablo y Río, los fui a ver
Francis has a point about RAOTW. Can't stand it myself.I loved All I Wanna Do (Polly)
I'm sure he's had a little something.............❤
RAOTW is a classic rock n’roll song, you can’t put it in the same category as Burning Bridges etc John Fogerty always writes a great song.
Testicles One Two Three !
Has he actually listened to margarita time 😂
Coked out of his pineapple !
Rick Parfitt comes across as a much more humble chap. Francis is acerbic. Fair enough
No he's realistic and honest. people just can't handle the truth sometimes
UTFT
@@leo1314ok Acerbic.... sharp and forthright. Geddit?
@@flashtheoriginal so you're not into honesty then. I "geddit"
@@leo1314okhonestly? You mean egotistical maniac ?
'i respect Billy Joel's writing'. Ffs.
I like Quo but Rossi a pain in the arse, tries too hard to be amusing
What aload of waffle 😴
Well you listened to it though. 🤡

Made zero sense to me
