"I'm ready, please send my information to casting and Netflix"
And it made me realise so many people are just so confused on how Hollywood works so I wanted to make this video, breaking down how you can actually, get an audition for Netflix, in 2024.

Was really passionate about film and acting way back when I was still in middle school, had a big dream but didn't know where to start, the internet wasn't helping either because of how people in this industry prefer to gatekeep everything. I have always had a passion for acting, and luckily, I had the opportunity to work as an extra in 2018 and 2019 when I moved from Brazil to Dublin, Ireland. I was a part of the TV series Krypton (season 2) and Game of Thrones (season 8). It was an incredible experience to work alongside the main cast, and it made me want to pursue a career in acting. Unfortunately, I had to return to Brazil and have been quite busy in the past few years. I am grateful that your video appeared in my CZcams recommendations. As an American actor, I can’t pretend I know exactly how it works in other countries. However, as I mentioned in the video, this is the process in every other film market. And Netflix does have a wealth of foreign content. The amount of shows I’ve watched from Australia, South Korea, and even that German show, Dark.

This is an excellent video man. I’ve been waiting on this short film I acted in to finish and send me the footage for a year now, but I honestly should just start making my own clips now instead of waiting all this time.
Im so happy this helped!! And yes, not to freak you out, but there are many short films I did and even a decade later have never seen. It’s part of the learning process. I’m always a proponent on finding more ways to take some of the power back into your own hands. My goal is to eventually be at the point where I’m enjoying creating my own opportunities enough for outside opportunities to be a cherry on top instead of my identity. The more you start to make this a career, the easier it is to lose touch with the idea that you are more than your bookings.

There are a bunch of actors that started out in reality TV.
Hey! I have a quick question can I get a role if I have no experience? (Also I like your character in stranger things)
It depends on your metric of no experience. If it means no major TV or Film roles, of course, everyone starts somewhere. But I would say really prioritize learning the craft and at least get experience with creating characters and breaking down scripts. It usually takes time to get your craft to the point it’s at the level of being able to book work professionally.

I live in Indonesia, i've installed Backstage and a bunch of other local movie casting app. Netflix is my ultimate dream (i've never done any acting job, or acting class or made any audition tapes ever). But my love for the movie and acting industry is just unexplainable and i've only made some dubbing from movies in my tiktok. Is that delusional of me to dream this high? :(
I can't really access the Backstage cos it's very limited to only US area, i check the available auditions daily but can't really sent any audition tapes bcs i'm too far. US is actually one of my favorite country to visit so i really hope to be able to go there soon and while i'm there i would send audition tapes as much of possible
You can start making some situations up and actually accordingly, record yourself and post yourself online 😊that will make you reach out to a wide audience and maybe somebody will discover you. So put yourself out there.

Actually i've been wanting to be an actress/model since like 20yrs ago. But i grew up in a very small town that's still pretty primitive and not really familiar with film/actor industry those kinda stuff you know.
So i guess i've always wanted to but i kinda pressed it down bcs my education is more important.
But idk these past few months it's kinda all i can think abt and i think i'm still afraid to actually do it.
My desire for acting is really great but i still find it hard to take more serious step into it (that's why i only do it for fun like the dubbings).
And i will definitely start to make videos here on YT. I think this is the best platform for it, don't you think?
@@deborapakpahan1819 I can absolutely understand your struggle my friend. I also belong to a relatively small city where there aren't much options for acting . But trust me social media has helped me a great deal 😇I am sure it will help you too. Firstly you will have to find out the regional casting pages in your city or town or the nearest city where you can manage to travel if the need arises. And you're already into dubbing that's one of the best ways to actually get the initial recognition. And yes Instagram and CZcams is one of the best platforms to start putting out your talent. Please don't be afraid and put yourself out there and stay consistent 😇. There are going to be people who will spew hate for now reason , but do not let them demotimate you , just keep doing your work. Secondly side by side please do earn money and save as much as you can , that will help you move out to achieve your dreams further. At last please do not trust anybody random person who promises you a chance in acting, stay alert at all times , do your research. 👀. And always remember, your age doesn't define anything so never bring the age factor between you and your dreams . If God made you brave enough to dream about this field , he definitely made to brave enough to achieve it. See you on the big screen in future . All the best 🌻

do you ever get self conscious while acting? I’ve always thought I’d be a great actress but I can’t seem to get past the nerves/self consciousness of performing in front of people (I have a university degree in drama and have never gotten over this!)
Oh absolutely, but what I’ve learned is to embrace it and let it fuel into the character. Instead of trying to resist the nerves, celebrate them as fuel, or make them part of your interpretation of the character. When you resist them, you’re trying to force something to leave, which inherently can make a scene feel similarly forced.
I have two practical recommendations though as well. First, practice some breath work. What’s happening is your adrenaline is spiking, so taking deep breaths while focusing on the in and out flow will help you soothe some of that adrenaline to dilute some of its impact, for example, on shaky hands or a quivering voice.
You can also try to bring your scenes to a chair. Standing will naturally spike the energy of a scene, whereas sitting will naturally ground the scene. Of course, you don’t always have that luxury of choosing the blocking of the scene, but it at least gives you a tool to use while practicing to try to rechannel that grounded feeling.
It also helps to try to really just focus on the other person. Focus on how they’re feeling and if they’re responding in a way your character wants. By focusing on the other person in the scene, you’re less conscious about what you’re doing.

Backstage is definitely a great resource; hopefully it didn’t come across like I was bashing it. But Actors Access will always be the premier platform and it’s important to know when it’s time to transition from Backstage to AA.

Tried auditioning for a commercial. They said I was good but started givin me all these charges I didn’t need. I just wanted something to be apart of cause it’s fun and I liked acting in highschool so I already had a passion for it. Buying an agent is hahaha. Like might as well save my money.
Yeah that’s a sign of a scam. You don’t buy an agent you partner with an agent. They take a % of what you book, they don’t charge you outside of that unless they’re a scam.

Is it ever too late to start acting?
There are countless stories of actors that didn’t have their break until later in life; Harrison Ford, Ty Burrell, and George Clooney to just name a couple.
It certainly becomes harder the longer you wait, as your peers are able to get in thousands of hours of repetitions before you start. But if you stay diligent and try to start without the self-consciousness, you’ll be surprised by how quickly you can improve.
In many ways it starts by embracing the idea you may suck for a while at it when you’re learning. A lot of people let that fear delay them from becoming talented. I was a terrible actor for awhile before I found my groove, but that’s expected for every profession.

Especially because I'm pretty sure you can publicly find Stranger Things Extras Casting on Actors Access or Backstage.

I would say that’s very unlikely. First, Backstage is not really where agents would go to look for talent. Second, it’s not about randomly making clips, but rather identifying your strengths, putting in work to develop those strengths, and putting together footage that then highlights them onto either Actors Access or Casting Networks. You can do a mix of a service called Talent Link and cold submits to agents.
Backstage is a great place to do that when you’re just starting out, and it’s important to know if you’re in the development phase or the monetization phase with your craft.
If you create footage and headshots that perfectly combine together into the best version of your craft and you don’t hear anything back from your submissions, it’s usually a sign you’re prematurely trying to leave the development phase and need to continue working to hone your craft or identify your strengths.

I think it’s a mixed bag. You have things like the Me Too movement and Quiet on Set finally setting a spotlight on the problematic underbelly in some parts of the industry. However, the hope is that it brings genuine change and makes the industry safer going forward.
I do think it’s an industry you need to be very careful in though, but specifically in making sure you hold the right mindset. It encourages narcissism and competition and self-consciousness. So making sure you don’t fall victim to it and stay invested in the craft side of things instead of the glamour side of things is extremely important.
I’ll say too, it’s really hard to navigate your relationship to attention. So it’s a tough industry but if you truly love the craft of it and surround yourself with genuinely good people that root for you the same you root for them, you can carve out your own safe space.
However, you also have to embrace that a lot of the success is out of your control, which as a control freak, was incredibly difficult to come to terms with.
I wanted to become an actor when I was a child. But when I looked at the possibilities in germany I quickly gave up lol
Don’t, you can get an international agent. You might need to save up and move sure but please don’t give up!!!! Talent shouldn’t be wasted if you’ve got it!!!

I agree with @LifeWitTheresa and am grateful for them giving you words of encouragement! It depends on how much you love the craft. Jim Carrey has a beautiful speech about how his father was laid off at his safe job as an accountant. He failed at the safe route. Which made Jim realize he might as well try the thing he loved if not even the safe route is truly safe.
I’m in the process of developing some videos with some foreign actors to hopefully create some tangible steps for my beginning actors outside of the US that watch the videos to know where to look and how to start. I actually have a mentor I’m reaching out to who’s from Germany and has appeared on many popular shows. Hopefully whenever I am able to make that video actors like you can see more of the possibilities they may not fully see yet.
In terms of not having experience by the way, this is why the love of the craft matters so much. If you truly love the craft it’s easy to go out and learn. If you only love the idea of it, the competition is too stiff for you to be able to have a sustainable long-term motivation when it inevitably takes time to turn it into a career.

And that’s fair! I want to mention putting yourself out there doesn’t just mean posting things publicly. It can be something as simple as signing up for a casting service like Backstage. Filming a monologue with your phone to then put on the casting site and submit yourself to a few projects with it. It doesn’t need to be public on CZcams or Instagram or anything, just not being afraid to make yourself known as an actor. It can also be putting yourself out there in acting classes and trying out for community theatre performances. Little things that broaden your experience and get the momentum rolling.

@@rebeccawand8098 This is a great question. Perhaps I can do some research and find some successful actors from Croatia for a video. I'm working on using my connections to create a video with actors from different countries to help provide guidance to my non-US actors that are watching my videos for advice. My instinct would be to find the country closest to you that has a film hub and research agencies there that could be willing to take on outside clients. Especially with how compact Europe seems to be.
