- As a nobody in Texas with zero experience, I found a way to book one of the biggest shows of all time with only one audition tape. Here's how I did it!

Loved seeing you in Cole Hastings new short film 👏🏼
Thank you Brian!! It was such an honor to be part of such a vulnerable project of his!! ☺️
Oh wait!!!!! I didn’t realize this at first, but I watched you all the time growing up!!!! As someone with wickedly sensitive skin that gets pimples from a single jelly bean, I loved all your videos on your acne journey!!!! Especially your Accutane journey. Grateful you came to check out one of my videos!!! 🎉🎉🎉
@@TristanSpohnAKASpiderman well you just made my day!! The world is so small when you limit it to kind caring people who inspire you! I’m honored and I’m excited to see what else you get up to my fellow acne brother haha
I'm not really into acting, but this was a good video. I think ur gonna be big.
Yay!! Im glad you can still enjoy it even if you’re not an actor! ☺️
Loved seeing how confident you were with your audition. lots of times actors are so judgemental of themselves when they dont need to be. you did a great job☺
Such a valuable video for beginner actors. Excited to be on this journey with you :)
Thanks for helping me bring this to life!! Excited as well!! ☺️
Ahhh. You are gonna be amazing! You did so good in your role on stranger things, I was getting so upset with you haha. That's how you know you did an incredible job! I can't wait to see you flourish in acting!
you're such a great actor, in cole's movie you were the best ❤ effortlessly embodying the character.. i wished your parts didn't end.. i hope u do another project together.. ❤u looked great together 😊
Awwww this is so sweet!! I loved working with him and would always love to create again!! You never know!! I’m so happy Joey struck a chord with you!!
@@TristanSpohnAKASpiderman indeed it did🥺, now I'm craving an another movie of that character (he is so noble😭💜)
This advice is gold. 💫
I especially like what you said about type casting. So many actors obsess over wanting to show their acting range and are offended by being put in a specific character type consistently. I even used to be irritated by that.
It’s very true what you said, though. Having a casting director immediately think of you for certain casting breakdowns is a huge advantage when you really hone in on that. Thanks for sharing!! 🙏🏽
Thank you! 🙏 Yes I think every actor resists type casting but it’s one of your greatest strengths when you first get started in the industry to build a name for yourself. Thank you for watching!! 🎉
@@TristanSpohnAKASpiderman Well said! 👏🏾
ive always wondered how this works even though im not really in the acting field, this was a great video !!
Wow!! This was such a good video! Though I genuinely couldn’t watch your audition tape for two at some points because it was so creepy and unsettling lol. The eyes really get you 💀💀
Can’t wait for more vids!!
Hahaha YAY! Yes, exactly its ALL the eyes. 👀 And yes I’m excited to keep working with Jamie!!!! ☺️ Love all of y’all’s videos together so hopefully there are more on the horizon!!
You've honestly inspired me to give acting a shot.
I have always dreamed of one day being on the big screen and helping these great stories and characters be given life but I always thought I either didn't look good enough or just simply wouldn't fit any roles. But you've made me want to give it another shot!
Thanks for being down to earth with us about this stuff, it really makes the dream of becoming a professional actor seem closer than ever before!
ps: loved your work in stranger things, you have great talent and I wouldn't be surprised if I started seeing you getting some lead roles in other movies and series soon :D
This makes me so happy to hear as this is my entire intention of videos like this! Truly every singles actor version of the craft is different purely as they filter everything through their own perspective. So you will always have an interesting take if you honor your perspective of it. This issue is too many actors trying to become something they’re not. So keep leaning into yourself and I believe you’ll find your voice. ☺️
Yessss with the laban efforts in movement and speech, I'm living for an actor who actually cares about the acting.
I´m SO GLAD that you didn´t give up!!! You are amazing 🤩
U were amazing in stranger things! Ur acting was top notch and i wish you good luck in the future,u have huge potential🎉
Thanks for such a great video! Also love your set-up and the lighting looks cool!
Thank you for watching!! And thank you 🙏
Your videos always give me so much hope and motivation. Thank you!
That’s the best feedback I could possibly hear!! Thank you for watching and I’m so happy this helps!
This is excellent exposition, thanks for this, keep it up and I'm sure this channel will grow!
Bro... you are a genious. I don't know how much work you have behind yourself and I also don't have comparison to other actors, but the way you talk about acting says a lot about you and how much of a genious actor you are. I hope you'll get everything and more you hope to get from your acting career.
I'm only 3 minutes into this video so far, and it's already such a well crafted video! I really love the differences you point out about the idea of acting, and the craft of it. I really like looking at the difference between "acting" as a character, and "being" the character. (Literally after I typed that, I continued with the video and you just explained what I said in my comment! Haha) I've been creating fan films on my CZcams channel ever since 2020, and I've learnt so much about acting and have had a while to really practice and improve. So whenever I start looking into the acting agency process, at least I've got SOME little experience behind my back. But watching this video, if auditions get declined and what not, I'll definitely remember this video man. Such good explanations. And dude, the way you portrayed 002 was fantastic, you'll get so many more roles in the future I know it!
Enjoy seeing you in your element. Keep it up.
this video was sooooo useful omg, thank you for sharing your audition tips ! 🙏
Yay! This makes me happy to hear! Thank you for watching and I’m glad this helps!
I love your channel so much! I just got an agent a few months ago so your videos have been very helpful. Excited to watch all your new videos!
Congratulations!!! This is one of the most difficult times to get signed so huge accomplishment!!! Happy these are helping!
that’s awesome! you’re gonna go far, for sure!
Thank you!! **cues up Moana** 🌊🌊
The video is great thank you so much for it 🥰👏🏼
Thank you so much for watching!! ☺️
I did four auditions for Better Call Saul (from Texas) and didn't book a single one. I asked my agent (Pastorini-Bosby) what I was doing wrong and they said, "Nothing, they have to see you twenty times before they will book you. They wouldn't keep calling you back if they didn't like you."
Very useful video, thanks so much for sharing all these tips and advice!
You have the most incredibly piercing eyes that definitely add so much believability to your roles! Kudos man!
Thank you! This is why the eyes always anchor the scene. Realizing I could trust my eyes to tell the story without needing to over emote with my facial expressions was one of the major breakthroughs that led to me grounding my performances.
@TristanSpohnAKASpiderman It really does! And I believe you were able to get some tears going as well , amazing, such an art to do a scene without over acting or overcorrecting and being too flat. Can't wait to see your next projects, love from Cape Town! Let me know if you ever visit and I'll show you around!
this is awesome!!! thank you for sharing
Yay I’m so happy you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
You know who you reminded me of straight away, as soon as you started talking! Evan Peters as Quick silver from the X-men, he became my absolute favourite character when he saved everyone at the school, coolest scene, loved it, I could see you as that character ❤❤❤.
The internet 😃 you can help so many inspiring young actors, I can't believe how good you were in that part, there's none of him in you, and none of you in him, and I love that you were elevens only other equal at the school, that made you stand out even more 👏👏👏👏 I love seeing you like this, what an opportunity ❤❤❤.
This is really great advice, thank you!
I agree that typecasting is super helpful, but it's also sth. that I'm still struggling with even though I have already booked two classes regarding this topic and have surveyed people how they see me. I always get a lot of different and partially conflicting answers.
That's why I'm wondering how you arrived at your type and brand? Did you just make a decision and pick these adjectives based on what you enjoy most and what you feel comes most natural to you or is that based on recurring feedback you got from casting directors/agents/teachers?
I’m currently only getting opportunities for commercials as the happy/friendly mom/wife/business professional.
Anyway, I really appreciate you passing on what you’ve learned on your journey and I wish you lots of success with your upcoming projects!
Now I have to watch your episodes again 😁😃💞.
Hehe stay tuned a video reacting to all my scenes is up next! Either today or tomorrow!
I needed this kind of knowledge 😂
lfs student here. i appreciate this video, it’s as helpful to an aspiring director as it is to an actor :) thank you for not gatekeeping your knowledge lol
I’m so happy this helped! Yes understanding actors is the easiest way to give them what they need as a director! For me, it’s all about helping in whatever way I can, and I definitely feel acting is the one thing I have a ton of knowledge on. ☺️
So cool! Congratulations Tristan!
Thank you! 🙏🙏
Great video man!
Thank you Faheem!!!
My guy, thanks for your info, one day I'll be like you
Of course I’m happy this helped!!! Just keep growing the craft! 🎉
Inspiring video Frfr I’m from Texas and dream about this bless!!!
That makes me happy to hear!! And ayy howdy to a fellow Texan 🤠 We got lots of talent here.
@@TristanSpohnAKASpiderman yessir awesome to see how u created so much and ur from Texas as well im gonna take your advice and work on monologue and headshots . Im only 19 so i wanna try!
I'm not an actor but I really enjoy watching this content. It's nice to see how the industry that we all consume actually works. WHEN you become an A Lister, will you still keep this channel?
Wow this was very interesting to watch :D
Hey Tristan! Just found your channel and really like & appreciate your content!
What agency are you with (if you don’t mind me asking)?
Any tip on how not to smile or cringe while doing it 😅
I do!! I actually go pretty in-depth about this in my Your Honor Audition Redemption video! Specifically at 3:51 of that video. It’s specifically about identifying the cause of it.
It’s either A) you’re not allowing yourself to fully commit to the scene B) you’re letting your nerves override the scene instead of adding to it C) you’re too attached to coming across as likable and so your brain subconsciously smiles as that’s the most likable way of self-presenting
There are different solutions depending on which of those three it is.
Hello from Macedonia keep up the work❤
Hello TO Macedonia! Thanks for being here! 🙏
Ur acting was literally so on point tho i wont lie
Awww thank you 🙏 I appreciate you for watching my video!!
@@TristanSpohnAKASpiderman :D
good acting man!! If you can say hi to millie for me
Great job. Remember me when your famous!!!
Thank you!! Of course! 🤠
@@TristanSpohnAKASpiderman np!!!!
What is the name of the website to post reels for agents to discover you?
Reminds me of how I approached my audition for James Potter in Harry Potter on Max. I didn't go for just pretending I'm talking to my son, but talking to my son Harry, like he's in front of me. Having different headshots is an eye-opener, which methinks now is what my agent wants from me.
Yes nothing is more important than the relationship to who we are talking to. And the more specific the headshot, the easier an agent can market you for a specific role. ☺️
First 🎉
Ayyyy!!! Thank you for being here!!!
How would i start off in a country like Ireland a distant one that doesn't really do that sort of stuff ?
Great question!! My editor, Jamie Barclay, is actually from Ireland! I would actually recommend researching some of Barry Keoghan's career. He's at least the first Irish actor I thought of that is having a TON of mainstream success right now. I will say this...there are a couple of big projects coming to Ireland in 2024. But, I would say, similar to what I said in this video, find ways to start filming yourself to at least start practicing and training your craft and see how it translates to a camera. One thing I could've mentioned in the video is FaceBook actually has a lot of valuable film communities you could join where filmmakers will post casting and crew calls. Try to join a class either virtually or in-person to build a community of other creatives that could film things with you. And then once you have some footage and a great headshot that communicates the character type that best fits you, you can go on IMDB Pro to do a search of local talent agents and managers in your area you could submit your materials to. I hope this helps in addition to the video!
@@TristanSpohnAKASpiderman Thank you so much
Of course!!
Hello can you please recommend to me someone from Croatia (Europe)🥹
It awesome ❤
I'm not an actor, but as a viewer I wholeheartedly support your stance to fight the "bobble-head disease" of delivering lines with over-exaggerated head or body movements.
Sonequa Martin-Green did that so much in the early Star Trek Discovery seasons to accentuate the gravity of the dialogue and it got so distracting (and annoying) to me that I almost couldn’t continue to watch it. I read somewhere that this was what the director wanted, so it's probably not her fault. But still a bad decision, IMHO.
You’ll make it big bro
To audition for stranger things and get the role a week later is no small feat. Not to mention the role being a fairly huge speaking role…
Nah you def gonna be the main lead of some big show in a couple years
Thank you! 🙏 I appreciate your words brother and am excited for whatever is to come, even if it may currently be unknown and unpredictable. It’s easy to kind of take for granted some of our achievements after it becomes normalized. So I appreciate the reminder that it is something to be proud of! ☺️ Wishing you the best!
Hey man, loved hating you in stranger things! I’ve got another channel under the name “Jayce Sifre” where I’ve been making short films and such since I was 14, 18 now. I’ve edited together an acting reel and have headshots, just wondering how you go about making money while doing the passion. I only do part time but it’s not enough to where I’d be comfortable paying for an agent at the moment. Kind of a silly problem but just some complicated life stuff. On another note, hopefully we’ll work together one day!
Hey thank you Jayce! I’ll have to check some of your stuff out! First major note is you do NOT pay for an agent. If an agent is trying to have you pay them directly, it’s a scam. They take a percentage of work you book with them. Typically 10-15%.
Outside of an agent sending you professional opportunities, you can mainly use Actors Access to find professional paying work. There are also some FaceBook groups you can join for even more localized stuff. But Actors Access is the only place you will find reputable professional opportunities before you get an agent. Getting an agent is major first step to opening the door to the big big opportunities though. You can find stuff that pay you money for acting on your own, but they won’t be to the caliber that you will find through an agent, unless you’re looking to get into extra work. Which be very careful about contracts you sign for extra work after some of the reports of studios including clauses that allow them to use AI generations using your likeness.
I hope so too!!! Keep plugging away and eventually the opportunity will come! I’m planning to at some point make an agent specific video to answer as many questions as possible around that!
Omg I hated 002 as well!😂 but he played him well!
pls reply to yhis because im really wanting to be an actor, how did u get so good at acting?, any tips
Wow, you are goooood...I see absolutely none of that character in you at all. That's huge for an actor, I definitely want to see you do more. That character was so mean and serious Wow 😃👍. I'd love to know how to have that actors way of talking so i can talk about things I'm passionate about on CZcams, i get to embarrassed hearing my own voice 🙈🤭☺️love Tasmania Australia 💕🦘🇦🇺🦘.
Did you take acting classes? Or did you learn through making the short movies and teaching yourself?
A mix of all three! I went to a performing arts high school where I learned a lot of the foundations of acting. I then took some film acting classes. Then I got to teach myself my version of my craft through my audition tapes. And now that I also teach acting at a studio, I get to learn how to process some of what I’ve learned into more digestible concepts, which in turn helps me better understand them as well. ☺️
@@TristanSpohnAKASpiderman thank you for replying!! I’m trying to get into some acting classes as well and of course the end goal for me as well is to get into an acting school when I’m old enough to enrol. I’m also saving up the money to neves into some books that can help fill out the grey areas in acting and give me tips to strengthen them :) you channel is the biggest help I’ve found so far! Thank you so much for making it
ngl I jumped back when u shook the chair, I see why they chose you, they probably did too.
Hey Tristan I need some help with something, I can’t find a agent and I tried so many companies that help with giving you a role but they all turn out to be scams, I also tried to use the backstage app but I have no idea how to use it. I’m also only 15 with two parents and a sister who works all day, I am also trying to audition for the new season for stranger things but I already told you what is happening😭 so can you please help?
Hey! I know it’s definitely cloudy my NEXT video which we’re uploading before the end of the week will cover this!! 🎉🎉 Thank you for watching my videos!

Lol at least it’s free shit 🤷♂️ Based on the response to this video, a lot of people got value from it but you can’t please everyone. Thanks for watching multiple videos of mine despite finding them filled with shit. 🙏 I hope you find what you’re looking for somewhere on the platform if it’s not from me. 👍
Ngl i had a personal vendetta against you and stressed when I saw you on my screen lol😂
But I honestly can’t wait to see you be in bigger projects!!!!!
Hahaha yay! I can’t wait to keep growing!
I love playing villains or hideous characters. Started out in musical theatre. That's when I realized audience members focus more on the bad guys vs just the good guys. Being pretty and innocent is so boring to me 😆 I've learned also by watching Dacre Montgomery. I did my own version of Nancy from The Craft and I looked psycho. Which is actually good. 😆 I live nowhere near Atlanta. Been trying to apply with Casting Taylor Made for any photodouble for Stranger Things role. I did the extras thing over 10 years ago for other movies. But I'm over that phase. Want something bigger. I have demoreels on my page 😊 czcams.com/play/PLmKU8T4KwGU1ONxAi7RM4VdpeujXUyJCx.html&si=68aX-pJeKgYnEmnz
