As seasons change again, it's time for me to start gearing up on bait for the winter. My favorite bait for Pompano, Sheepshead, and Drum is sandfleas. I make sure to stock up and be ready for the winter season.

Seeing sandfleas move on each other like that, it really makes my back skin crawl👀

Keeping sand flies alive
Sand flies is nasty as shit lol I looked this shit up jus to be disgusted I’m weird like that
Now I'll never see the sand the same again
Great time with your daughter! So good to see you teaching her.
Great fishing and parenting tutorial 😉 Joey!
Love Pompano! :-)So fun to catch🤙🏼
looked like a fun day at the beach, and it's always hard to imagine the sand is that alive just below the surface. haha
I grew up right on Ormond Beach, so whenever I needed fleas, I just raked the sand for a minute and had a pail full. Now I live in South Florida where there aren't any sand fleas. Now that you've educated me on boiing them, I'm going to run up the coast to Sebastián and load up enough for a few bags in the freezer. Maybe I'll run down to Channel 2 or 5 and see how the bridge fish like them in the keys. Like you said, worse case senerio I can mix them with sand, oats and fish oil for chum balls on the slack tide. Heck I might even try a frozen block or two of fleas and ground up fish bits for bridge chum. Thanks for the inspiration Joey!!
i... i don't know what half of these words mean

Thanks for all the info, it's highly appreciated!
Thanks for the tips buddy, keep healthy and safe
Thanks for the cool video the best sand flea video education I’ve got yet
Nice video good way to get bait to catch a fish!!!🤙🏿
Thanks for the techniques. Awesome job to the like one reeling in the fish. 🤙🤙🤙
I love them with a little old bay seasoning
Nice work Dad, there's nothing like making your daughter happy.
Love the vids
Awesome video!
How far out do you normally cast for Pompano. Usually around satellite beach I just get black margate on sand fleas.
I NEVER LIKED SHORE FISHING UNTIL I STARTED WATCHING CZcams VIDEOS ABOUT IT, ONE GREAT ADVANTAGE IS THAT THE GAME WARDENS AREN'T COMING AROUND PESTERING FISHERMANS AS OFTEN
Nice idea!
Great job she's a true Fisherman
I absolutely love your videos. When is a good time to catch pompano morning or evening??? Thanks
Nice vid👍
The roches of the sea 🤣
Which size do you think is best for fishing? In Brazil i can get 1.5" size sand fleas, but i have more action with half inch ones. Nice video
I love pompano! I live on the west coast. How does pompano compare in taste to west coast perch?
I wonder if we keep stocking up on fleas, that soon there won't be many fleas at all. Seeing more and guys with massive rakes on the beaches. When the fleas are gone, so will be the pompano guys. The artificial baits work really well. I collect and freeze some also. But not as many as years ago. a GREAT way to take your fleas to the beach is frozen in a wide mouth thermos. You can keep it chilled in your cooler at the beach. Use what you need and return to fridge when you get home. They will be just as good on your next trip ( blanched fleas)..this cuts down on waste. Guy's take big bags of frozen fleas to the beach and throw out half a bag when then leave. We have conserve. and its easy to do.
They’re great for bait. Also Caught some stripers with them before along the beach
BTW awesome videos. Long time viewer but I don't normally comment.
Otherwise known as “sand maggots”
Can you freeze the sand flea's till ready to use again
thought u were gonna have'em as snacks😂😂, btw, is this in south fl?
Love the vid. I live on the beach here in vero and I've been dragging the kids out last few nights to get some fleas...and driving the wife crazy "cooking" them. Lol
Patrick "PatGeo" McCloud brought me here
Thanks
Just got back from the inlet & no sand fleas around here...havnt seen them in over 10 years since the county imported sand from somewhere else for the beach & I guess they don't like this sand?
I too thought those were called sand fleas, until I was bitten by sand fleas.
What?
Millions!!
I never see sandfleas around me and never caught a pompano but great vid
Are frozen blanched better than unblanched?
What is the More better hour for find sand flea ?
Nice video 👍👍👍
Cute little girl. I’ve got a daughter and two grand daughters. Fun times.
The fleas have been thick out there. I might have to bag some for future use as well.
You're in Melbourne? Me too... Does a busy beach make a difference? I can't find fleas to save my life at the beaches I go to... (Seagull park, others up near Patrick SFB) maybe I just don't know what I'm looking for yet. Thanks for the info!
Busy beaches do make a difference. With a lot of people walking on the beach, the fleas will tend to stay down.
Batter and season flour n deep fry pretty bomb!!
Mantap mancing mania 👍
How long can you keep em frozen before they lose their value?
Nice to find your channel. I'm an inland boy about to start shore fishing here in the area. Right now it seems a little scary.
not an island boy?
@@ravionmoyers267 nope. definitely not. lol
Good video cute kid. I live in St Lucie county where do you think would be a good area to start looking for sand fleas.
The problem in my area is beach renurishment. thanks

We can't wait to come down at the end of November and get on the POMPS
Excuse me, where can I buy this type of collector and what material is it made of stainless steel or iron and what name does it have ... Greetings from Mexico
I've never seen a sand flea I my life. Are they in Biscayne or the keys? Every one talk very well about them. The smile on the kids face made my day and great job. What can u catch also with sandfleas? Have a great day.
@kev docks I will keep watching to learn. Thanks.
@kev docks Very. Never tried it. Never seen one live...
I like the views of the ocean with that camera. So relaxing. 😌
Will they work on fresh water fish
Sand fleas did not work as well as minnows fishing the coast of NJ. Did catch a flounder with a sand flea as bait so they are a economical and effective bait.
What is that beach
Sands crabs catching equipment name plzzz.
With the fisheye lens.
Joey is there a tide that is best for catching sand fleas?
Low
Hey Joey Antonelli you get that pompano rig from Mr. Pope?
No I tie my own.
Who makes that scoop you’re using?
I have a question... Do these sand fleas bite 😱
Can you catch these in February ?
why does he remind me of mikey balz 😂

Dead is better than alive
What part of Florida are you in???Great video your daughter is a chip of the old block!!! Can you get the fleas in the winter months??
they're near impossible to find then
Hey just moved to the Melbourne area ... kinda random that you said you were from here ... do you have fleas? Have you seen any lately? Would you be willing to show me in person on how to find them?
Over the last year sand fleas have been next to impossible to find. Not quite sure what to blame it on whether it's weather-related or maybe the beach renourishment that they're always doing now. I do not have any but I'm always looking when I'm down at the beach.
You can also drop them into a ice bath also boil them in different dye’s
That was so funny how she guessed right.
100k subs around the corner ✌️😃
Hey Joey I’d like to get some sand fleas how much does a bag of them run?
I sell them for $15 a bag. The bag is a sandwich sized bag. That's really enough for fishing for 2 two trips for most people. Right now I am not setup to ship so they are pick up only in the Melbourne area.
@@JoeyAntonelli alrighty man when u are ready to ship I’m definitely gonna get some they are hard to come by in south Texas
I’ve blanched them or just frozen is sea water . The sea water works well also .
I have heard the sea water trick but I've never tried it.
@@JoeyAntonelli try it see what you think . Pretty easy .
Can you ask her for some lotto numbers? Can't believe she called it lol @Ladyfish!
Why do you boil them? Whats the difference if you just freeze them instead?
When you thaw them out, they fall apart.
By parboiling them the shell remains firm.
@@fjb4932 oh ok. Thank you
Wow
Love to see people take kids fishing, good job! With more kids spending thier days on a phone, game, or computer. Always love to see parents teaching kids how to fish. Good job!
Today I went to the beach I was digging and right in front of my camper I found sand fleas the size of the palm of my hand
I bought a $20 sand flea rake just like the one you carry. Didn't find any fleas. Then, I tried just digging into the sand with my hands and would get 2 to 5 in a handful.
Sometimes they're deeper especially when it's cold.
And people wonder why I hate the ocean
Me: oh cool bait
some people ewww that's why I dont swim in ocean
honestly it never worked for me blood worm sasuki rig is the best
U r in Florida
Where can I catch blue 🦀 from salt water beach

I can not find any sand fleas
Can I order sandfleas from u ?
love your video my man and the love you show for your child. I have a 7 years old son he hooked on me everywhere I go here in Brevard fl. take care everyone and go fishing and stay safe. god bless
Do you freeze those fleas? If not, why take so many? Over harvesting isn’t a good thing.
I’m sure others will say, there’s so many they’ll never deplete. Read some of the other posts where people say they never see them anymore.

Why did you boiled the flea s

They're sand crabs not sand fleas.
You can't recreationally harvest sandfleas and then sell them.
That's correct. Good thing I have my saltwater products license with a restricted species endorsement on it along with a wholesale/retail license for both county and state.
Seems ya cain't take a crap now-a-days w/o paperwork ...
Shouldn’t she not be hunting for sand fleas bare foot so they don’t get bites or have them lay eggs under the skin
Those aren’t the same sand fleas, the sand fleas in this video are actually Pacific Mole Crabs
IMSO glad I love Michigan ,we don’t have weird nasty things besides leeches, you can have your horrible Florida love your governor, hate your heat and muggy ,lol everytime I’m there I can’t leave the air conditioner.so if you like it ,I love our cold weather parasites and bugs die ,I go vacations in Canada much safer and no poison snakes or gators or piranhas.thank u jesus
I think I'm mostly annoyed that he's calling them Sand fleas. Those are NOT Sand fleas... They're SAND CRABS. Sand fleas are a completely different critter.
That's like getting annoyed that they call Snapper Jack in Australia. Look up what a Mangrove Jack is and a mangrove snapper. They look almost identical but have different names in different locations. When I have to write up a trip ticket for selling sand fleas on the FWC software they are listed as mole crabs. If I'm trying to talk to someone in my area about a specific bait and refer to them as mole crabs, no one knows what I'm talking about because down here they are called sand fleas.
Every single bait shop on the east coast of Florida and probably even further up refers to them as sand fleas.
Unless you're referring to the scientific name of an animal there could be many different names for one species.
