    I’m 72 years old and I wanted to be a cowboy so bad when I was a kid. The first time I saw this beautiful animal I was in love with it.
    I had dreams of riding a horse across the prairies of the west.
    I’m an old man now and I love reading books about cowboys, cattle drives and other western stuff.
    This is my favorite breed of horse.🐎

      Old man if it is possible play "Red dead redemption 2" on PC or PS 5. You can still ride a horse and be a cowboy/outlaw :)

    I had a snowflake Appaloosa , he was the best horse I’ve ever known,his name was Poncho(my Dad called me Sysco😅)❤ I got him when I was 16 and he was 7 , he died at 37. 😢
    He had a blue spot on one eye (glass eye) but not the whole eye.

      I’m crying thinking about my blue eyed Appaloosa my cousin gave me but I was too young and immature to take care of her. She was gorgeous. Men love dogs so much but have you ever bonded with a horse?

      Just needed to request you get a more accurate estimate on sizes, etc, of these horses. The last one I laid eyes on that was ONLY 14 hands, was a yearling! I've see up to 17 hands. Just FYI.

    I've owned 3. Hobo, Vagrant, and Stella. My experience is they are highly intelligent, playful, but also highly mischievous. Apps are quite spirited when young and I don't recommend them as your first horse unless they're older and know you. They have to have a lot of interaction and exercise or they start getting cranky. While they are also friendly, they only bond with a few people at a time, Hobo only really wanted 3 people to ride him. Mine were all very fast and always asking to run, they loved it. Almost as much as they loved bath time.

    14 hands is barely bigger than a pony! Average appaloosas are 15 to 15 1/2 hands.

    How come many websites have Appaloosa in lists of " The best horse breeds for beginners"? Although I have read it is high-strung and not the best for novice riders...

    You need to watch True Appaloosa. The Dna clearly shows the old data and theories are wrong. These horses crossed the land bridge with the first native peoples 10-12 k years ago. They are native to Kazakhstan.

    How can the horse have come to America 500 years ago and also have been bred by a tribe in America.

    • @gilliangreen2920
      @gilliangreen2920 Před 9 měsíci +3

      The Nez Perce developed the breed from imported stock, breeding the best to the best and gelding or trading the lessor stock. This is not creating a breed ......it is good horsemanship.
      The only thing purely American about the Appaloosa breed is the name Appaloosa, derived from the palouse river by European settlers.
