Had an appaloosa all his life, trained him myself as a teen. His father was at the barn where I rented...was the sweetest stallion I had ever met...leopard appaloosa.

Aren't most Appy's manes and tails short? I have never owned one, but I had a couple who I was close friends with. One was a mare, and the other was a gelding. They both had natural short manes and tails.

The "traditional" early bloodlines had what they refer to as broomstick tails and shorter sparse manes. Contemporary Appaloosa's will typically have more mane and tail. I have 3 Appaloosas. I lost one in 2019. Best horses ever.
I wish there weren't so many solids in shows. Not all of them can be leopards, but at the very least they should have some characteristics. And for heaven's sake, could you PLEASE stop using fake tails?! Appy manes and tails come in all lengths and thicknesses. My leopard mare is quite proud of her little tail and would be insulted if I told her it was inadequate.
A couple of years ago, my horse spooked on the trail, and my buddy said that she could see the whites of her eyes. No matter how many times I tell her that the horse has white sclera, she insists she can see the whites of the horse's eye.

I agree about the color and characteristics, to much out crossing no matter DNA testing has made the breed look like colored QH and not the old foundation type the Appaloosa was . There are still that type .

@@roguewolf5597 Glad you mentioned it! My girl is 1/4 Arab, and her temperament is very different than my 5 generation Appaloosa. I've known her for 20 year, since she was. 1 day old, and she's a very loyal horse. Her half sister is a 5 generation Foundation Appaloosa and she's far more calm and level headed. I'm currently buying an Appaloosa Shuffler, which is very old breeding.

It’s not an app at least in my eyes. Just like paints don’t have to colored to show.

Appaloosa or not. I saw a lot of crossbred with arabian and thoroughbred. To me that is not pure and not a breed.

  • @daniloaugustorodriguescard8065

Estes appaloosa são mais quarto de milha e não appaloosa, perdeu a originalidade

  • @Loki1815

Eeerrr, aren't you allowed to cross breed an Appaloosa and still call it an Appaloosa?
    Sort yourself out!
