Yeah, in this case it really seems random to me. There are certain triggers that are known to be likely to cause problems for a CZcams video, but I don't think this had any of them in it.
The origin have lot of wrong info , wonder if this reupload will fix those mistake ? Like quy nhon isn't the largest city in central Coastal Vietnam ( da nang actually are ) and few other mistake he made In the origin video

Hội An is not considered a Champa site, it was built by the Vietnamese kings and the architecture was influenced by China and Japan, probably with some other foreign elements cause it has always been a busy trading port (nevertheless it remains an iconic Vietnamese heritage site). Cham architecture is very distinct and more similar to other Southeast Asian cultures, anyone can tell the difference immediately.

Feudal times in Vietnam had Confucian culture. In Dang Trong there is Hoi An trading port, in Dang Ngoai there is Pho Hien trading port, a place to trade with merchant ships from other countries. These two trading ports are more famous than other trading ports.

My fiancee's family came from Rạch Giá, which is in the Mekong River Delta area. Her family settled in Pensacola. Her mom makes amazing steamed fish, banh xeo, and bun bo hue (as well as some great gumbo lol), and her grandparent owned a fish cake company. They introduced me to some amazing fruit, including soursop and the breast milk fruit... and durian. 😅
The Breast milk fruit is also known as Star Apple , and it is said that flavour somewhat close to longan

Glad you talked about the Bahnar not alot of credit comes with us, We also known as Montagnards and we’ve made of different “Tribes” like Rhade and jarai(I heard more exist but don’t know the names). I dont know much of my people as much was lost in the war but notably we have strong ties with americans and we even have a sizable community in the east coast of america.
In the video Jarai and Rhade haven't been credited unfortunately and are mistaken as Cham since they are Austronesian like Cham. Though being Austronesian their culture is more similar to Montagnards than to Cham. Video says most Cham live Central Highlands but there are only 2000 Cham in Central Highlands. The town names are also not in Cham language. Jarai and Rhade are the two biggest Montagnard groups and speak an Austronesian language unlike the other Montagnard groups who speak Austroasiatic languages (Vietnamese is also an Austroasiatic language). The biggest group after Jarai (514,000) and Rhade (398,671) are Bahnar (286,910). Other big groups are Xơ Đang, Koho, M'Nông and H'rê. Some of them have less than 1000 like Brau and Rơ Măm. Gia Lai is the province home to and mainly Jarai, Đắk Lắk is home to mainly Rhade, Đắk Nông is home to mainly M'Nông, Kon Tum is home to mainly Bahnar and Lâm Đồng is mainly home to Cơ Ho. There are also Montagnard groups that live outside the Central Highlands like Bru Van Kieu and Katu. I'm Vietnamese born in Netherlands but I find the Montagnard groups interesting.

My brother also has a bisht he wears it aswell in the winter but since the temperatures are rising here (up to 34 currently, it's gonna go higher in May..) he stopped wearing it, but if u ever visit kuwait just don't go in the summer you'll melt :,)

3:57 As a Vietnamese 🇻🇳 living in the Northeastern mountainous region (yes, its full name is "Northeastern mountainous region", if only called "Northeastern region" it would also include the Red River Delta region), I was really angry when I heard information about "they are of Chinese origin and can understand Chinese". I have never seen anyone can speak Chinese in my homeland.
First of all, you must understand that the concept of “China” is very complicated. The ancestors of ethnic groups such as the Hmong and Yao living in Vietnam came from lands that are now China but were not in the past. Therefore, they do not know Chinese but have their own ethnic language.
As for the Tay-Nung people - an ethnic group that accounts for more than half of the population in this area, their origin is here. More specifically, the living territory of their ancestors - speakers of the ancient Tai language family - is the Guangxi region (China) and northern Vietnam. Later, when the feudal states of Vietnam and China divided their territories, they cut the traditional residence of the ancient Tai people in half by the border between the two countries. Therefore, the Tay - Nung people can communicate with the Zhuang people in Guangxi (China) but cannot talk with other ethnic groups of China.
As for the concept of "Bach Viet", it happened more than 2,000 years ago, while the appearance of different ethnic groups in the Northeast mountains has only happened about 1,000 to 300 years ago. They are not related to each other.
It is an insult when you misrepresent the origin of a community.
And Northwest and Northeast only have 40.000 Hoà (Chinese) combined while Southeast regio has over 600.000

Hi there, If you are doing a filler episode on Malaysia in future episodes, here’s my explanation on the 13 states of Malaysia:
1.) Perlis: The Northernmost and the smallest state in Malaysia and is most famous for its caves the famous one being Gua Kelam and is famous for its seafoods as the main activities there is mostly fishing, also lots of paddy fields and is also famous for Wang Kelian Border Market which is located in Padang Besar bordering Thailand. The Capital of Perlis is Kangar.
2.) Kedah: Kedah is often considered a ‘rice bowl’ of Malaysia as it is one of the largest producers of rice in the country and its landscapes are mostly dominated by paddy fields. They even have their own Kedah Paddy Museum, Kedah is also known for places like Bujang Valley, Alor Setar Tower, Kedah State Art Gallery and don’t forget Kedah’s most famous tourist destination and its none other than Langkawi Island, which is very famous for its beaches, Due to its breathtaking natural scenery and landscapes. Langkawi is also one of Malaysia’s duty free zones and this also means that things like alcohol are openly sold there sometimes at a cheaper price without being subjected to tax regulations. The Capitol of Kedah is Alor Setar.
3.) Penang: Consists of Penang Island and the one on the mainland known as Seberang Perai. And this also gave Penang the nickname “Pearl Of The Orient”. It was also part of the three entities of the Strait Settlements It is very famous for its rich cultures, history and UNESCO heritage sites with its colonial style buildings, temples, arts, and not to mention for its Peranakan Baba Nyonya culture which are people descended from Chinese traders whom have intermarried with local people and have created a fusion of Chinese and Malay culture and traditions, Penang is also known for being a food haven and its most famous dish being the Penang Char Kway Teow. Penang is also known as a hub for its circuit board manufacturing industry. Famous places include Penang Hill, Baba Nyonya mansion, Batu Ferringhi Beach, Fort Cornwallis, Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang War Museum and many more. The Capital of Penang is George Town.
4.) Perak: Perak was famous for its history as a tin mining region and its history goes way back when the story starts with Long Jaafar, a Malay chief of Larut whom discovered tin deposits while he was bathing in a river and Since then, Perak have prospered for its tin ore mining productions and this also led to the migration of Chinese working as tin miners in Perak. These various Chinese clans began to rival one another and started vying for control over the tin industry and this led to the Larut war and Ngah Ibrahim, whom is the chief of Larut, and the son of Long Jaafar, began asking for help from a British superintendent from the British Strait Settlements named Captain Speedy to solve the dispute. Nowadays, Perak is most famous for places like Kellie’s Castle, Ipoh Railway Station, Gua Tempurong, Leaning Tower Of Teluk Intan and many more. The capital of Perak is Ipoh.
5.) Selangor: Sometimes referred to as the “Gateway to Malaysia” as it hosts Malaysia’s main international airport which is Kuala Lumpur International Airport located in Sepang. It also host one of the largest seaports in Malaysia known as Port Klang. Selangor is also a major hub for commerce, industry and service sectors and has a lot of industrial areas cities like Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya and more. Places of interests include Sunway Lagoon, Batu Caves, Sepang International Circuit, Klang River, Shah Alam Stadium and Cyberjaya. Kuala Lumpur also used to the capital of Selangor but then broke off to become a Federal Territory of Malaysia. The capital of Selangor have since moved to Shah Alam.
6.) Negeri Sembilan: The state is very famous and unique as it is the only state in Malaysia which the population mostly descended from the ethnic Minangkabau groups and that is why you can mostly see a lot of Minangkabau esthetics especially in the architecture, culture and arts. Places of interest include Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan State Museum, Istana Seri Menanti and many more. Capital of Negeri Sembilan is Seremban.
7.) Melaka: Also known as the Historical state, Melaka was also one of the three Strait Settlements alongside Penang and Singapore. Melaka Is best known for not only its rich history but also a fusion of cultures as Melaka was considered as a hub for trading due to its strategic location in the Melaka straits and people from all over the world especially Chinese and Indian traders not only stop to trade but even intermingled and marrying the local Malay people in which the descendants became the Peranakan people not only included the Baba Nyonyas, but also the Chettis Whom are considered the Indian Peranakan which is an ethnic groups whom are descendants from early Indian traders intermarrying with the local Malay people and lastly, the Kristang people which are descendants from Portuguese settlers and colonialists. Places in Melaka include A’Famosa, Stadhuys, Jonker Street, Melaka River which is also dubbed the “Venice Of The East”, The Church Of Christ and many more. The Capital of Melaka is Melaka City.
8.) Johor: The Southernmost state in Malaysia and also borders Singapore, It is home to the busiest international land border crossing in the world. It is the only state in Malaysia to have two coastline which are the Melaka Straits to the west and the South China Sea to the east. Johor is the only state in Malaysia to have its own Royal Military Force which protects and serve the Sultan Of Johor and is the oldest active force in Malaysia founded in 1886. Some of Johor’s famous attractions include Muar, Desaru Water Park, Kukup Fishing Village, Kota Tinggi Waterfalls, Rawa Island and more. The Capital of Johor is Johor Bahru.
9.) Pahang: The third largest state in Malaysia and the largest state in Peninsular Malaysia. And this makes it the most geographically diverse state with vast natural rainforests which is home to diverse flora and faunas. So this is also the reason why Pahang has many national parks and reserves and the most famous one being Taman Negara, Gunung Tahan Wildlife Park, and more. Pahang is also famous for places like Genting Highlands which is home to Genting Theme Park and Resorts, Cameron Highlands which is famous for its mountainous climate which makes it suitable for planting certain fruits including strawberries, passion fruits and also tea plantations, Bukit Tinggi French Village and Fraser Hill and also Tioman Island The Capital of Pahang is Kuantan.
10.) Kelantan: Kelantan is sort of like the Aceh of Malaysia as it is the one of the most conservative religious states governed by Sharia law with restrictions on clothing, gambling, alcohol, entertainment and etc. And this is also why Kelantan is the only state in Malaysia to have no cinemas and entertainment outlets, Besides that, Kelantan is most well known for its agricultural economy and is home to the most famous Gua Musang cave which is surrounded by limestone hills and popular with rock climbers and cave explorers. Kelantan is also famous for its beaches, handicrafts, marketplace and more. Places include Seri Khadijah Market, Kelantan State Museum, Istana Jahar, Wat Phothivihan, Sultan Ismail Petra Arch and many more. Capital of Kelantan is Kota Bharu.
11.) Terengganu: It is basically Kelantan’s little brother trying to follow in his elder brother’s footsteps, also a highly religious and conservative oriented state with heavy restrictions on alcohol, gambling and entertainment. Terengganu is famous for being the hub for petrochemicals and the largest complex can be found in Kerteh it is also famous for its scenic islands, pristine beaches, traditional arts and craft which includes kite flying contests and also producers of Batiks and Songkok. Places of interests includes Tasik Kenyir, Tengku Tengah Zaharah Mosque, Perhentian Island, Redang Island and many more. The Capital of Terengganu is Kuala Terengganu.
12.) Sarawak: The largest state in Malaysia and one of the two special states located in East Malaysia along with Sabah, it has one of the most unique histories, culture and status as it is one of the founding states of the Malaysian Federation alongside Sabah, Malaya and Singapore in 1963 which means that the state has certain autonomy and rights enshrined to Sarawak via the Malaysian Agreement 1963 which includes immigration in which Malaysians from outside Sarawak must bring a passport or IC to enter Sarawak and have a work permit if they want to work in the state. It is the only state in Malaysia to have a Christian majority population and have no official religion and this also explains why Sarawak recently also has a lot of separatist movements. Sarawak is famous for the Gawai festival and also famous for its lush rainforests, flora and fauna including the famous rafflesia flower and the Rhinoceros hornbills which gave Sarawak the nickname “Land Of The Hornbills”. Places of interest includes Damai Beach, Sarawak Cultural Village, Niah Cave, Semenggoh Wildlife Reerve, Mulu National Park, Niah Cave and more. The capital of Sarawak is Kuching.
13.) Sabah: Also known as “Land Below The Wind”, it is the Easternmost state in Malaysia and also one of the two special states along with Sarawak and just like Sarawak, it is also a founding state of Malaysia alongside Malaya and Singapore. Sabah also has its own laws and distinct governance different from Peninsular Malaysia including autonomy over its own immigration and more enshrined under the Malaysian Agreement 1963. Sabah is best known for its natural diversity, beaches and also its seafood.. Places of interest in Sabah includes the famous Gunung Kinabalu. Terengganu is NOT KELANTAN'S LITTLE BROTHER. It has its own identity and culture separate from Kelantan. There are more differences between Kelantan and Terengganu than there are between Perak and Johor!
Perlis and Penang are the true Kedah's little brothers and sisters. Kelantan and Terengganu are more like cousins rather than siblings. Terengganuan culture is more similar to Pahang than they are to Kelantan.

7:01 North Central Coast Region of Vietnam always fascinating me. It’s interesting where there was the division between North and South Vietnam, especially near towards the city of Hue. Big bummer someone tried to copystrike this video, but the extra facts are great. Vietnam is so interesting; I've been watching a lot of Uyen Ninh as well. Side note, my kids asked several times yesterday for the Vietnam episode, and I had to keep telling them that it wasn't out yet, haha. Hey Barbs. Before I ask you my question, I first want to thank you for two things. First, I want to thank you for making Geography Now as your videos are what made me learn to love geography and get over my misanthropy. Second, I want to thank you for making your last gift video as seeing you learn to embrace your Korean identity gives me hope that I can eventually learn to embrace my Mexican identity.
As for my question, I wanted to know what's your advice for learning Korean and/or languages in general? I ask because my sister and I are going to go to Korea in 2027 for a pilgrimage and I figured it would be useful to be at least conversational in Korean by then. (For context, I don't personally know any Korean speakers as of this moment)

In any case, to answer your question, I will admit, Korean is a very difficult language, because the grammar is completely unrelatable to English, or even any romance language for that matter. There are subject indicator sounds and these weird “situational suffix words“ -unless you are with a Korean person to guide you, it might be difficult. But then again, I don’t know your level of comprehensibility, it might be easy for you. I will just say, as someone who was raised around the language his whole life, I still have trouble with it. Lol
but hey! At least learning how to read is super easy, you can learn it all in like three hours.

Here are the corrections for the misinformative facts that have remained in this second version of this video
0:49 Vietnamese provinces are like that because well, Vietnam isn’t that big compared to giants like China, Russia and USA and provinces of this size are normal for countries of this size. Provinces in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Turkey are of similar size as well and they also have a lot of provinces. The main reason for these provinces isn’t statistical data. The division of Vietnam into provinces has existed since 1832, not very recent and way before anything was done with statistical data. The most recent change was a minor change in 2008 where Hà Tây merged with Hà Nội. Shortly after reunification of Vietnam, a couple of provinces have been joined together, but later in the 90’s had been separated again from eachother,
3:19 Bắc Giang is the largest province by population, but the capital Bắc Giang is not the largest city in that regio. The city Thái Nguyên is the largest city by population with 420.000 people, while Bắc Giang has 174.000 people.
3:35 The Northeast region isn’t home to Cát Bà island. Cát Bà is in the Red River Delta region.

3:59 Đông Bắc Bộ is actually the regio with the provinces with the least ethnic Vietnamese, thus also less Chinese ancestry in general. Vietnamese are a minority group in 4 of the provinces in this regio and 6 provinces in this region have less than 50% Vietnamese. Vietnamese only make up 5% of the Cao Bằng province, and around 10% in Bắc Kạn and Hà Giang. Most people here are from ethnic groups who speak Tai-Kadai languages and to smaller extent Hmong-Mien or Sino-Tibetan languages. Though having lower Chinese ancestry in general, this region still ranks 3rd after Southeast region and Mekong region by Hoà population (people who not only have Chinese ancestry but also identify as Chinese). Chinese ancestry is most common in Ho Chi Minh City which also has a large Chinese quarter (Chợ Lớn) and in the province of Bạc Liêu. As of 2019 there are 507.000 Hoà in the Southeast region, 149.000 Hoà in the Mekong Delta region and only 44.000 Hoà in Northwest and Northeast regio combined.

Hindu Cham mainly live in the South Central coast regio, while Muslim Cham also live in the South Central coast or are scattered around Mekong Delta regio with Châu Đốc city having most Chams of the Mekong delta region and even has a couple of mosques. The muslim Cham in the South Central Coast (Bani Cham) have still have pre-Islamic and Hindu influences/belief in their religion although they are Muslim. Because of this,their form of Islam is seen as unusual. The muslim Cham in the Mekong Delta are Sunni muslims.
9:32 In the video they are first referred as Hindu Indic people but later it is said they are the only non-Indic Hindu people in SEA along with Balinese people. They are indeed not Indic. Also, there are more non-Indic Hindu ethnic groups like the Baduy and Osing people (both on Java island, Indonesia).
10:11 Đà Lạt has its own climate due to being at higher altitude. The area where Đà Lạt is settled has the highest altitude of Vietnam excluding the Northern region.
10:15 Actually there are many areas in the Northwestern region of Vietnam which can be colder than Đà Lạt. There is even snowfall in this region sometimes, while snowfall is not possible in Đà Lạt (as shown in this video this time).
10:23 The Austronesian people who live in this regio aren’t Cham or are descendants of Cham. They share a common ancestor with the Cham people.
10:33 Though the Champa kingdom covered the Central Highlands in the past, Cham people don't live in Central Highlands at all. Out of the 179.000 Cham in Vietnam, only around 2000 live in the Central Highlands. Most Cham reside in the South Central Coast region and scattered around the Mekong Delta region, mainly near the Cambodian border. There are certain Austronesian ethnic groups in this regio (Jarai, Rhade/Ede and Chru) who also speak Chamic languages and descended from the same people like the Cham (descended from people of the Sa Huỳnh culture (1000BC-200AD)) but aren't Cham. The Jarai and Rhade both outnumber the Cham in population by 3-4 times. The Jarai and Rhade have in the Central Highlands a total population of 506.000 and 359.000. Though Jarai and Ede are Austronesian like the Cham, they are part of the Montagnard (mountain people also known for their gongs, as shown in this video this time) groups while the Cham aren’t part of these people. Their culture is more similar to other Montagnard ethnic groups who besides them, all speak Austroasiatic languages (Bahnar, Sedang etc.) than to Cham culture and they aren’t Hindu or had any Indic influences, except for Chru who look less like other Montagnards groups and are closest to Cham. Though being the ethnic group most close to Cham, they also don’t have Indic influences. In Đắk Lắk province, the largest ethnic minority is the Ede, in Đăk Nông it is the M’Nông, in Gia Lai it is the Jarai, in Kon Tum it is the Bahnar and in Đăk Nông it is the Koho.
10:42 The cities in this region don’t have Cham names but Jarai/Rhade names alongside with Bahnar, M'Nông, Cơ Ho, Nạ etc. Buôn Ma Thuột comes from Ê Đê language and Đà Lạt comes from Cơ Ho/K'Ho language. Pleiku (capital of Gia Lai province) comes from the Jarai language and Kon Tum comes from the Bahnar language.

The difference is that Khmer people follow Theravada Buddhism (and their temples look distinct from Vietnamese temples) while Vietnamese people follow Mahayana Buddhism mixed with folk religion. More Theravada Buddhist temples only occur in the provinces Sóc Trăng and Trà Vinh. The rest of the Mekong Delta region is almost entirely Vietnamese and have little Khmer temples like the rest of Vietnam.

Hey Barbs! I wanna know where do you announce your next trips cause I live in Chisinau, Moldova and I found out too late that you've been there, and I wanted to meet you, cause I am following you since 2020 and I never really thought you would ever come to Moldova.
Depending on the situation, I may or may not announce them, especially if it is a secret project I want to reveal later versus a project where I actually need locals to be involved in the episode. For Moldova, the project was way too fast paced and I literally did not have any time to meet anybody because we had so much driving to do and we had problems at the border which made things even more complicated. So sorry man, maybe potentially in the future there could be another meet up

The thing that I found interesting about Vietnam is, how the 2 sides of Vietnam were back in the day (North and South) and how people from the north live in countries like, Czechia and Hungary, and people from the south live in the US and The Netherlands for example, I absolutely love this country, for it's interesting history, amazing food, and great people
Exactly, and I wish I could’ve expanded a little bit more on the ideological differences prewar time, But again, the video was already pretty long and that’s a topic that can go on and on forever

It was greating seeing you cover the region of Vietnam as a pre-text for the vietnam episode but this video have a lots of incorrect information. I do hope you consider redoing the episode with more research again since a lot of the fact are either wrong or slightly off. Some could be consider offensive.

If possible, can you do a video of the administrative divisions for Bangladesh? I think that would be an interesting video. They’re not that many divisions but each division is rich in its history, culture, peoples, etc. I think it would be a very fascinating video since my family comes from Bangladesh. Would really appreciate it if you did.

Just came back from 1-week family holiday in Vietnam, visiting the mid Vietnam area - Da Nang, Hue, Hoi An. Interesting places with large Chinese and Hindu footprints from the past.
Different from what I experience from business traveling to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

I really enjoy the Vietnam episode as I'm from Vietnam. It's so cool to watch about my country after waiting for 7-8 years or so. Definitely looking forward to Yemen as it is a very interesting country but currently going through a lot right now. I just hope that after Zimbabwe, places like Taiwan, Kosovo, Somaliland would have their own episode. Regardless of politics, I see them pretty much as separate countries, Somaliland is doing much better than Somalia, and Taiwan is a success story. The recent earthquake proved how advanced Taiwan is, minimal damage for a strong earthquake like that.

That is seriously what I strive to do, to make the people of the country at least “somewhat satisfied“ of the country episodes, even though I may make a few mistakes here and there. Yugoslavia no longer exists as an entity, so it will not have an episode.
