  • In this video I talk about changes / differences between the pre production / first batch V1 to the second batch/ V2 Keplers. V1 and V2 are terms i use! this info is not official from Ariel Rider just my own observations after watching other videos on this bike including Ariel Rider website compared to what I received on my Kepler.

Really appreciate your taking the time to put out these videos. Much, if not all of your points are indeed accurately reported.
I took delivery in the very first week of deliveries, of the Version 1.0 group of Keplers.
To clarify, yes, the crankset on the V 1.0 is made by ‘Prowheel.’ The ‘Solio,’ is how it is branded.
    Also,
In your display, you can access an App, that may allow your bike to be more interactive, to include gps, the ability to communicate with other Kepler owners and share information with them, and other ‘cool’ things, us V 1’ers did not get.
Then there is also speculation that your controller may be a TRUE 1800 watt output one, versus ours being rated at 1300 watts peak output. This is not confirmed, but the math, based on the amps shown in the two different displays of either bike V 1.0 versus 1.5, metes this out. Plus V 1.0 electronic components are not compatible with the V 1.5 controller. (We can not just go out and buy your headlight or tail light and switch them out with ours), since AR already told us the two controllers are different and not compatible for electronic component swapping.
We also call you second batch guys, the Version 1.5, due to it being delivered only just two weeks after ours. That just seems more of an accurate description to us, as the differences do not seem to be super major, also the timing of the release, (two weeks), and lastly, the price points of both are the same. Ariel Rider also told us very early on, that after they sell out of the first batches, they will increase the price by $200.00, at the end of July, which also warrants the reason(s) why we call it the V 1.5. Because yours is still in the same price group as ours, just a later batch. Version identification is nothing to argue about, I’m merely just pointing out how we came to the determination as to why we call yours what we call it, as we anticipate a true 2.0 may have significant differences to both of ours, and a price hike to justify it.
We have also confirmed, there are currently three different iterations of the Kepler’s rear light as well, one being the preproduction all red, rear tail light, then one being the red reflector and clear outermost illuminated area (like mine), and then yours, with the turn signals included.
IMO, Ariel Rider needs better quality control protocols, be more standardized and consistent in what they are putting out to the public, and more transparent in their marketing.
You can also visit the unofficial “Ariel Rider Kepler Owners” Facebook page, to find out more details about either of our bikes and to link your videos.
    See you around.

One thing I ain't too happy is that I order mine mid June and still don't have a specific date for delivery. I'm using my local bikeshop address to receive my ARK to avoid missing the delivery guy while on vacation. Again thnx for the video and looking forward to more. Happy Independence Day!!!

Each bike is custom 1-off made. They still use bike assemblers to put certain things on it, then the tools and accessories. Each assembler may be working on 3-5 bikes at a time to hit a number like 20-25 bikes assembled a week.

  • @dlbark

I think (1) those CZcams reviewers got a pre-production version of the the bike. It was sent to them to to give their opinions and feedback of suggestions. (2) You more than likely have the production version of the bike. These companies usually run production of these bikes and if they run out of a number of certain parts, (Shocks, handlebars, tires, inter tubes, break systems, grips), to keep production they order those parts and continue production. For example, the hub motor may have been 1 of 250 custom made with that script on it, so the 251st bike would get whatever similar in-house or Bafang 1600w motor that custom one was built off of.

You’ll accelerate A LOT faster if you put a little effort in and pedal when you’re accelerating. I only use gears 4,5,6&7. Plus you’ll get more range outta of it if you help the motor out a little bit. Throttle only eats up range…especially when taking off from dead stop and low speeds

    • @bpoydras1503
      @bpoydras1503 Před 2 lety +3

      Paul Doley,
      True it all.
I will add, throttle only, especially at take off, lends itself to premature wear and motor burnout. Same as climbing up very steep and/or long grades, using only the throttle, as one would not be giving the motor any assistance pulling the cumulative weight of the bike and it’s operator, plus any additional payload on the rack.

Some users report the bikes motor being louder than other ebikes. I wonder if this has to do with the new custom bafang motor. I suspect (and hope) it is the metal geared motor from the x class 52v that people report is also loud. The original Bafang only motors wouldn't have metal gears.

I think 1000 watt rear hub is just louder than a 500 or 750. And louder than a mid drive motor. Not much you can do about that. Except buy a smaller quieter bike with less power or buy one that costs twice as much and get a stealthier one

Watching the video by Ariel Rider on stem angle it's completely different then the v2 (mine aswell). You seem to have yours angled and figured out. Also the two side bolts that show the angle degrees functions completely different then the original video released.
Also on the front wheel part, i was losing my mind watching their video and trying to get mine on. Originally when opening the packaging at the bottom of the box was the skewer which i had no idea what it was and it was all bent from being in the bottom of the box, so i couldn't even use it
