Gotta say, I do find it mad that people keep bashing Martin about rehooking a Barbel for a film. Hes certainly not the first, or will be the last to do it. Nearly 30 years ago, my old man caught the "legend" Matt Hayes doing just that to a Pike. He was filming on a lake in Shropshire where we're from (Matt lived locally too at the time). Its the norm and theres plenty of your favourite anglers doing just that. Personally, I like Martin's films, and his approach over the usual drum 'n bass filled "lets see who can be the biggest numpty on the bank" films that are far too often made these days.
Totally agree with you. Re hooking a fish to to make a better video doesn’t upset me, it’s not the end of the world. I’ve seen plenty of worse thing online. I like he’s approach to fishing and he’s still a great inspiration. Lovely videos as well!

That's what i thought before i even considered watching this , shame because I used to love watching his mentor John Wilson 😥 who'll will have turned in his grave , bless him . Can't even watch the video in disgust , I've been fishing since 1976 and what he did makes my skin crawl .
@@SteveMartin1971John Wilson was a prolific re hooker of captures for the cameras along side many more, matt hayze.... All of the older lot did it. I suspect it happens even now amongst all the newer lot. Ain't no one perfect and they are all trying to achieve the same thing that one perfect shot.

Great video Martin and a Lovely way to catch carp , Much better than being part of the 3 rod bivvy brigade!!! Just go and find your fish and use simple tactics. what rod were you using by the way ? You mentioned the reel and line but not the rod. Cheers Nick☺
Most carpers I know, go camping, they get their rods out on the syndicate as quickly as possible, straight on the known spots and then go off to socialise, eat, drink and whatever else...I've done it myself but I much prefer a good day session, where I am angling all day, trying different things on a pretty estate lake, with loads of features to fish too, fish right in to the evening then pack up, for me that's my favourite angling BUT each to their own....
Wouldn’t it be nice if people just enjoyed the video for what it is instead of worrying about leaves on the trees or feeling the need to slag Martin off.
As for me Martin has other angling philosophy than Nash tackle. He looks more garmonic together with Mr Chris Yates than with Alan. I can not explain it exactly but its feels and i am not sure that these two different types can work togher. But i wish to Mr Martin all the best in new company, sometimes we need to do other thing that we did before.

if your using hair rig you dont need to look at float as fish will hook itself ...also fishing a water like that on your qwn makes it easy to catch lol also looks like autumn ....did you rehook for cameras!!!
It’s not the hair rig that self hooks,it needs weight to set the hook,or a strike when the float goes to set,won’t just do it itself when float fishing.
Really like the contrast in angling styles that Martin brings to the Nash brand. Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter.....who gives a sh!t! Fished this lake a number of times, had a few carp out of here. Two lakes joined together by an old bridge. Stalking is the way to ca5ch here

It's a Nash Scope 10ft 2.25 TC. Fantastic bits of kit. I own a pair and they are by far the most versatile rods I own.
