Dangerous Dan! He never got the the recognition he rightfully deserved.
I saw this band open for another guy about 5 months after this show right here. Let me say that it was a highlight of my life to hear Allman sing and Toler play . The guy they opened for was Stevie Ray Vaughan .My life soundtrack is pretty much Allmans, Stevie and Govt Mule. Ask my neighbors, they get a heavy dose when Im home.
Wow Stevie Ray Vaughan,Makes me sick that they’re all gone
Gregg's band was actually opening for Stevie Ray Vaughan right here...in his home town of Daytona Beach. You can be sure his mother, Geraldine 'Mama A' Allman, was here watching. She died in her sleep at age 98 in 2015, in Daytona Beach Shores.
Miss them both so much. Gregg Allman and SRV rockin' it up in Heaven now.
Mama allman sure raised a few rockers. God bless that woman!! I'm sure she prayed over those boys quite a bit!!
LOVE TOLERS PLAYING
This was for me one of the greatest bands Gregg assembled outside of being in the ABB. This was his comeback, which led to the original surviving four reunion.
And this was about the same time that Warren Haynes and Matt Abts did pattern disruptive with Dickey Betts. Check that album out It’s blues rock with kind of an 80s production value but it rips
@alandavis1245 Yeah, that album surprised me to be honest. I didn't know Betts could rock so hard!
Not one cell phone in the air...the Good old days
Lol Pam! So True No Cell Phones just enjoying the Music!! I saw this tour in New England in Massachusetts they were fantastic!!
@@SusanAngelettiMusic I saw this lineup open for SRV at Old Orchard Beach on a warm summer night August’87. What a show.
@@kevinwatson4541that had to be an off the charts night of Blues!! Wish I had been there.
Or fkn lighters!
This is a rare find on UTUBE... many thanks to its source !!!!!!!
I loved Gregory. His voice and music will last forever. Rest easy all of you, that have passed away. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
😞😭🙏
Fantastic 😅😅😅
Rest ea su Both Duane , and Gregg. (and Duane said; e need a keyboard player real soon; "in about 2 weeks", Gregg "delivered". Yeah, has his "share", of up's, and down's, yet never kept him, and "a few other' down from delivering all of us some really great talentu, and Music. R.I.P., G.L.A. ,Duane, and "Butch".
R.I.P. GREGG . But everyday l always here your music, it's Like implanted in my brain 🧠 and that's a great gift .Thank U....
Same. Been listening to them literally my entire life, from the very day I was born and bestowed the greatest middle name a guitar player could have, Duane. All thanks to my dad, their 2nd biggest fan next to me! 😁🤘
I live in daytona for 40 years. Many memories of gregg allman in this town!!
Hey there did you happen to know Barbara Tronci? She’s my aunt and Greg’s high school girlfriend who kept in touch throughout his left until his passing. Just wondering if you knew her? Thanks so much ✌️
Grateful to be able to say I was at this concert, part of the Spring Break concerts in Daytona that year. It was a free show but you needed a ticket. Still have my ticket stub
Same.. by the time Stevie Ray
came on I was front row !!! A top 5 show for me✌️🌴
Saw this lineup at the Fillmore West in SF….blew my mind!! specially Dan Toler on guitar-what a great player he was.
Thanks I needed this our Era is ending.. my heart is still there..
Gregg Allman King of the White Man's Blues miss you Brothers 😘
This is some of the best Gregg Allman
Thank you for sharing never get tired of Gregg Allman ♥️ RIP
I love gregg allman
Made me tear up with joy. Miss Gregg so much. Thank you for posting this.
When Danny was onstage with Dickey, he made Betts smile like no other.
THIS is incredible!! I was at this show.. I can't believe this was filmed! I thought I'd only remember this in my dreams... Also playing that night WAS Stevie Ray Vaughan! My 17 year old mind was blown that night.. thanks for posting..
Stevie Ray Vaughan's set was also filmed. It should be on CZcams. I have both acts on DVD.
Extreme respect for Mr "dangerous dan". Dickey always said if Dan got any better....Mr dickey would be out of a job!! He and Jack pearson were true blessings to the bros.
Love, love this. Have just discovered Gregg Allman...I am amazed by his voice, musicianship, songwriting, and of course his looks too. He sure had it all.
He's one of a kind.
Among the best the USA has ever produced...
@Mary Marcus, enjiy the journey! I been in it for just over 50 yrs...it started when I was 15. Ir's always a warm place to come to often. Gregg's the best white blies singer ever IMHO.. They are all fine ppl and true artists. Hope this fills ur lufe w/joy as it does mine. This country was a better place when I was young. I'm glad thete's still some if us to share and spread this around. Peace and love
Hot, HOT, HOT!
Him & Duane were going to take over the music industry. And they would have if Duane hadn't passed away so soon. Then they brought Dickey Betts in, who only pushed Duane to be even better.
The Allman Brothers Band were about to take over the world. And then it all came crumbling down on October 29, 1971. The day Duane was taken from this earth. One of the saddest days in music.
The love between Gregg & Dan, I just witnessed. How effing cool!
I'm really into this concert! When I bought I'm No Angel, Faces Without Name became the favorite song off the album. I actually wore out this tape ( yes tape ).
Gregg Allman Band and the various incarnations of The ABB and all it's members have been my favorite Band of all time, I got every album, 8 track, cassette and CD and DVD that the ABB has ever put out to the masses. For all the members no longer with us, may they all RIP ! ! ! My late cousin looked just like Gregg Allman but he could not play any instruments nor sing, though he was a Roadie for a 70's touring Southern rock/blues band. His name was William "WiggylWig-Wam" White, RIP ! ! ! It's really something to hear songs like Whippin' Post played improvisationaly for 30+ minutes straight live ! ! ! Peace & Play 🎸 & Yaw'lls Instruments On FretBro's & FretSis's . . . 👍😎🎸🤘🙏🌹 DDH 6-4-2021.
Dan Toler -- what a player he was.
Amen! Sadly missed, RIP. Never tired of hearing this man's very talented guitar playing. That solo he did on Things That Might Have Been (and many others) put him on my top 5 list of players.
yup, he was "Dangerous"
GREAT GUY TOO
@@NUKE-W.E.F. Who was playing bass here...I want to say Bob Glaub, but....???
@@starwoodstudios1 Nathan, that would be Bruce Waibel . According to Wikipedia... Bruce Kenneth Waibel was an American musician who played for several artists and bands. He was last remembered for playing bass guitar and touring with rock band FireHouse. He died in 2003 and his death was ruled a suicide.
RIP Bruce Waibel.
My heart breaks because these guys were so connected
Gregg was soooo Hot 🔥
You rock Sharon ! ✌
I LOVE this Line Up - Dan and David Toler are amazing - also Gregg Allman did beautyfull work on this "I'm No Angel" Solo-period
Thank you jaxflfreebird for uploading! The "Gregg Allman Band" of the late 80's was my favorite era of these guys! I only wish they would've made more albums!
Totally agree with you on that!
I saw them on this tour By far the best concert I've ever saw. I was kinda young at 22-23 and didn't have the appreciation for this kind of music like I did after this show. One of my fav singers definitely
PEACE N LOVE TO MY ABB FAMILY💜🤴
Ditto !! And ROCK ON ALLMAN BROTHERS ALWAYS !!❤️❤️❤️
legend already and rocked on 30 more years !!THE GOAT !!!!
That's a sure footed goat for ya! Lol
it was great that the gregg allman band held down the fort...so to speak.... for a few years back in the 90s.........but ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE...WHEN THE BROTHERS GOT BACK 2GETHER..IN FULL FORCE.....WITH DICKEY BETTS!!!!..7 TURNS...and Back Where it All Begins...were truly the best work..since duane and berry left us.....
I think you mean "for a few years back in the 80's" And you're right, he did!
This just never gets old..
Toler Brothers Frankie and Dangerous Dan RIP they are sorely missed
Love this so much!! RiP Gregg. Great job by all!! GOD speed!! Wish I could have seen Gregg and Allman Brothers in concert!! Blessings
Hired the Toler Bros. Band to play at a small festival here about 50 miles north of Daytona Beach back in the 90’s. They blew the roof off. I still have the signed Toler Bros cd in my car. Dan & Frankie were badasses
Best Band at that time . To me Dan Tolers playing is unique and I like his point of view , playing the guitar .I say this, having in mind , that Jeff Beck passed away this week too... Puh ...Give me a break ,please . R.I.P. ,and peace on earth too
Thanks folks ...
This is the best Gregg Allman show on #CZcams
Met Gregg in Delaware at the old Talley Ho restaurant and bar , great guy and down to earth!!! Rip 🪦
I encourage people to check out Dan Toler as he jams on Whipping Post. He does this machine gun thing with the guitar and he stands in front of the drum set and brother Frankie Toler helps out with drum flurries. I also think that keyboardist is AMAZING. I love the straight up keys and the synthesizer sound or whatever it is. Daytona, Florida was a homecoming for Gregg since he went to High School here and knowledgeable fans will acknowledge how Gregg stayed in school to graduate. Gregg had heard more than a little about people who had failed in music so he was smart and stayed in school. Rest in Peace Gregg. Thanks for the many years of compelling music. Also, Rest in Peace Dan and Frankie Toler. Rest in Peace also Bruce Waibel. So many musicians who have left us here to remember them.
Tim Hedding on keyboatds
@Dan Mills That would be Bruce Waibel. Sadly he committed suicide.
That was a lovely tribute to great, great musicians and Mr. Gregg Allman, songwriter, singer, all-around genuine man and musician...he is so missed. This was a great night for him...
41:01 - 41:20 👍😎
amazing
I saw this tour same month in Philadelphia’s Tower theatre......terrific band maybe my favorite of Greggs solo work but they all were great,
All time - big time fan of the Allman Bros. I live in Daytona Beach, FL and was at this concert. Stevie Ray Vaughn opened for them and I must say Stevie Ray took them to church.
I was there too..
I’m from Boston, I was in Daytona for three months that winter of 87 and worked at Finkys as a bouncer, I was given a back stage pass to this concert , my roommate had to go back to Boston , we were down there in his car so I had to forfeit the pass and head home a few days before the concert ... I wish I had stayed !!!
@@johnmellyn2700 Talk about slitting your wrists right? I used to go to Finky's once in a while. There were so many great venues back in those days to hear live music.
@@mardicole4202 yeah that wasnt the only thing I missed out on,... my bosses at Finkys were Two Daytona police cops and they asked me if I wanted to work for MTV and do some concerts, it payed $3.50 an hour, I told them I didn’t want to be paid and that I just wanted one of those black satin MTV jackets, the next night I got in a fight with one of the unruly patrons at Finkys and broke my thumb so the whole MTV deal never happened
Saw the same tour in DC at the Warner Theater...awesome acoustics‼️‼️One of the best concert I’ve ever seen and I’ve been to many🍑
Day-um. Love this, love Gregg & Dan & . . .
Damn - they sound great. Gregg's using Will Power again! This was my favorite period for Gregg's voice. Especially "Before the bullets" album
I hope people see how good the Toler Bros were -
"Dangerous" Dan Toler, and his brother Frankie.. 👍😎
was there $$$ involved here
@@rickt2982 .. it wasn't enough
GREGG & ABB, is my go to music
Played thought out my walk in life
Still listening, nice when you can find old new music
I had the privilege of seeing Gregg Allman on this tour when I lived in Charlotte back in 87' at the Palomino Club on Albemarle Road. Great show!
Dan didn’t get the recognition that he deserves .!!!!!!
I agree 100%. What a killer player
He was an artist
Saw.these.50.times.never.gets.old.stonepony
Love it.,we miss him
As a Maconite and was there to bury Greg He always was good real music to the core so proud of my Georgia roots!!
i saw the gregg allman band at the blue moon in elgin illinois with the toler brothers in 1980...one of the 35 times that ive seen the brothers......it was a great lineup back then with the toler brothers....at the end of the show....gregg came walking down the center isle...and i thought...this is my moment....so i quickly stood up....and met him in the isle...and shook his hand and said..great job gregg...and he replied...thanks man!!...and the bouncers came right up behind me....and were ready to grab me....thinking i was going to shoot him or something...and gregg said....hey leave him alone!!
1980 was The year Lennon was shot. Great reaction from Greg. I would have tried what you did too. I bumped into Warren at the Ice machine one night the band was in OKC. We were standing in line behind a Japanese fellow that bowed when he turned around, and Warren and I both bowed simultaneously then looked at each other and both burst out laughing then Warren headed back to his room. Strange shit always happened when I was stoned. I think about where Warren went and where Greg & Dicky was when that happened.
I have seen Gregg and friends and the Allman Bros about 45-50 times, one time at Brassys (coco beach) Gregg, Dan, & Frankie signed a album for me,I have meet Dan & Frankie at a floped mid west blues fest in Tol,Oh. Dan was so cool to me and always rememberd me great men.Now Brassys,Dan.Gregg,Frankie are still and always will be in our memories.Bless ya all.
The Gregg Allman Band was not together in 1980. Gregg was fully occupied with the ABB from early 1979 until early 1982.
I was born in Elgin Illinois on April 1st 63✝️☮️😇💐🦋🎼🙌🕯️
I'm freezing 🥶😊🕯️🎼🙌
Dangerous Dan was the man!
Epic performance, miss you guys.
God Bless man. 😎🙌🙏🌍👏🌞
Thank you for sharing ♥️
jaxflfreebird what a great video, thank you so much for the upload!
Frankie & Danny were about the best friends I've had in my life..And Gregg I'd known since I was 6 years old & listening from there back yard( 100 Van Ave. Daytona )..Duane threw pine cones at me till he found out I was from Nashville like they were..It's hard to wrap my head around that there all gone..I had some great times with these guys & all were decent & respectful guys..And that's somthing rare these days..Eat A Peach.
Way cool brother. Much love out to you and yours from Tidewater VA James River
Good friends for years Mama A Gregg and Duane you are truly missed
Saw this tour and Dan was something. RIP DDT
Love you Greg. All of the Greats are gone.
I believe it was this tour when I caught the show at the Palace Theater in Columbus Ohio. I had front row seats in the balcony (which extends well over the main floor) so I was really digging the view as I was able to see the view of him playing every key unhindered.EPIC is the best word to describe that night. His solo band was great. I saw as many ABB shows that I was able.If my memory serves me correctly I believe Joe Cocker played shortly before or after Gregg's show. I think I will go eat a peach now.Southern Blood to listen to next.Peace Bros.
When he died, a little piece of me died too. I took solace knowing Gregg was out there somewhere. No more.
Greg was a good man and good friend, help me buy my first car in 1980, will always miss Greg Dwayne and Mama A. Life was so much better with you here
The mullet on the dude playing congas is hilarious. His little dance routine kinda sticks out like the Keytar did w ABB(81')Oh yeah DAN TOLER WAS AWESOME!!!!
Miss this band really bad
Gregg Allman (organ & vocals), Dan Toler (guitar), David "Frankie" Toler, Bruce Waibel (bass), Tim Heding (keys), Chaz Trippy (perc)
Old time"s you. Never forget with some good music
and good old friend"s....
Man I loved that band. 😅 As nd the man.
Have Mercy!!!!
and that Hammond.....damn thats a GREAT way to start it out-
Go to love it when 'Dangerous' Dan Tolliver steps out of Dicky Betts's shadow.
His name was Dan Toler. He had a brother named Frankie who played drums who played in Gregg's band, GAB. I think Frankie was also in the ABB for one album, the Arista years. Jaimoe was not on one album. They were the Toler Brothers and they even had a band by the same name, or they played at the Toler Brothers.
Keyboards man.🙏✌💪👆😎😇🤘🙌
Damn...... Dangerous Danny Toler!
bass player are great !! that´s a band !!!!
Bruce Waibel on bass guitar. Also an excellent guitar player too.
I was there Awesome
Gregg...
Excellent sound and video
u alright ? did u see them b4 or after this cuz this was kinda sad esp vocals awful like Elvis where he couldn't remember the words n just made up shit never seen worse oh well perception its a funny thing
@@rickt2982 You know Rick it's hard to be a musician. You try playing an organ and remembering song lyrics at the same time. You try touring and not gaining weight and sounding good and looking good every show. I was listening to a 2003 ABB show this week. Gregg was singing Who To Believe. He butchered the lyrics so bad to where they simply didn't mean what they should have. You ask, how someone could screw up so badly. Well, I don't think Gregg wrote the song. I think they were Warren's lyrics. And they had an entire album of new material an they were playing most of the album and different songs each night and they were even playing Layla and Gregg was in his early 50's. Gregg was I think 53, a recovering drug and alcohol addict, a hard core addict who later died of liver cancer. Anyway, it's easy for us to judge people. Just imagine being Gregg and having all of those ex wives. Gregg lived in the fast lane, fast women, drugs, alcohol, people dying all around him, people he was close to. Anyway, I post comments like that all the time. It's easy to judge people. But also, if you go back to listen to the old stuff the music was always changing. Gregg's vocals changed a lot from 1970 to 1972. It's hard to go from hearing Dickey and Duane to just hearing Dickey on guitar. The five man band lineup was simply not the greatest. People just cheered this band because they continued and didn't quit. People came to see Gregg right up to the end of his life simply because the man wanted to play and to sing. So feel free to comment. I too think I'm a know it all but honestly, I know very little about living such a life.
Awesome!
Dangerous Dan!
GREAT!
@Bryan Scott .. I was at this Show . It was Awesome.. Greg opened up for Stevie Ray Vaughn. And it was a free show .. by far the best show I've ever seen .
Greatest rock band eve
Love the organ!
2022!
Awesome
It's June 27th 2024! And I thank God for being able to see the Allman Brothers at the saenger theater in New Orleans Louisiana in 1979 or 80 clearly I remember George thorogood coming on before The Allman Brothers played! After the show! George thorogood would not let us backstage! What an a******! I still don't like George thorogood!! We lost dickey Betts this year and I think he was going to Big gig in the sky! There spirits live on in their music!❤❤❤
That VOICE!…was never off…..
I saw the Allman Brothers Band four times they were killer. I saw the Gregg Allman Band twice they were killer as well
51:36 "Dangerous" Dan Toler on fire!
Dan toler amazing top notch guitarist......his brother is on drums
whretched my new car, love it.
How sweet it was !!!!
Brutal
Dan Toler was a damn good guitar player , for sure
Greg played at the Wreck Bar here in Daytona
Hey can anyone help with this, I was in school in Boca Raton in 1983 - 84 and saw the Gregg Allman band with Dr. John opening. For the life of me I can't find any info on this show. Anyone remember?
What a jam. Kick but. 😇🙌✋💛😎😍🎁
