49 yrs old, I still get asked/quizzed bout Bonanza, because of my name.
I'm 65 and I used to lay in my grandparents living room and watch Bonanza! Pa, Hoss, Little Joe and, Adam And ! HOPSING!! :)
Can you say Hopsing these days?
Bem Captroayd.
Hop to it Hopsing.
Never heard the words before only the music, brilliant
Wow. 65 years old and I'm still learning Thanks Johnny RIP
As a little kid watching Bonanza, I always marveled that they could burn one of those historic maps at the start of the show each week.
I had a real hot chilli last night, going to the bathroom this morning made me think of the start of Bonanza.
@@hetrodoxly1203 Not the Johnny Cash song “Ring of fire”?

Lol!
That is funny. 😎👍
Always a treat to hear a "new" Johnny Cash song!
New …..lmao
You'll find it on the album "Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash" from 1963.
bonanza is now 20X cooler, since Johnny sang about her
Jaka nowa na początku swojej kariery Bonanzę śpiewał mmmy chyba jesteś małolatem !

That was great johnny! I'm almost 70 today and started watching Bonanza as a kid. But I never knew the words to the song! Thanks for putting it to words Johnny! I'm glad you had such a long and productive life! You suffered for your art, that's what made it so good!!
Out of the hundreds of time I’ve heard the bonanza song, I never knew it had words.
Hey how are you doing today?😮
Yes when i was a girl they sang the song every episode sung by Lorne Green utube has got him singing it if you want to hear it,,, then one day they just stopped singing it ,, i never knew way they stopped it
The original theme song was heard at the end of the premiere episode, sung by all four Cartwrights

i am 65 and watched bonanza and J Cash all my life and i never heard those sords before,,,,,,,,,,,,
The song is on his old Ring of Fire album. 🙂
😢😢😢😢😢.....que serie era Bonanza....una maravilla..❤❤❤❤❤👍🇨🇱
Love Johnny Cash! That voice🥰
❤❤❤❤❤❤. Wuuuuuuaauu. Que. Hermozo. Generó. Musical. Bonanza.
I never knew this song had lyrics.
Lorne Greene recorded a version of it, as well.
I've heard and seen it sung by the cast, but the lyrics were different. I recall something about "We've got the right to pick a little fight when we want to. BONANZA!"
Yes Loren Greene also sang it.
Me neither
@@evalehde3869 New to me, too.
A rare treasure from The man in black, Mr. Johnny Cash. Legend.
Hey how are you doing today…?
I was at Expo 67 In Canada when I was a kid, and I sat in the stands as Lorne Green himself sang that song!!!
I still watch Bonanza……and who don’t love Johnny Cash?…

Different lyrics, sung by Ben Cartwright/ Lorne Greene.
This song itself is Bonanza, thanks Mr cash
Super mon père l'adorait merci et moi-même
Loved Bonanza back then....just can't believe all those years are gone ....forever....!!!!!
Single drum, upright bass, early electric guitar. That's just a sound you don't head very much anymore. And I miss it.
Chi non si ricorda di Bonanza, del secolo ormai passato.
A taste of America at its best.
I love this Bonanza series...sweet memories...and I like Bonanza song by Johnny Cash...👍👍🎼
I think that is very possibly the only song that I have never heard Johnny Cash sing before. Thank you for this great video.
It’s on his ‘’Ring of Fire’’ album.
@@robertdoherty2001 Thanks for the information Robert.
I don't think you've heard him sing Single Ladies, either.
Do some exploring on CZcams. In his early days he sang a lot of the old standard folk songs.
@@andrewvelonis5940 Will do. Thanks.
Ero ragazzino, bellissima quella serie televisiva....♥
I knew that there was lyrics to Bonanza. In 1991 I got married at church of the Ponderosa. The song they played when we walked back down the isle was Bonanza.
Hello how are you doing?
Johnny Cash e Bonanza duas coisas que marcam a nossa vida 👊👊👊👊👊👊👊
The claim we hold is as good as gold, bonanza
Hand in hand we built this land, the Ponderosa Ranch
Our birthright is this Cartwright bonanza
We here belong, and standing strong, wrong ain't got a chance
Day by day, work or play, ready side by side
Hello friend, come on in, the gate is open wide
Bound to be a fightin' free bonanza
Singing pines of boundary lines for the Ponderosa Ranch
Every tree and flower is part of our bonanza
The stars at night, the morning light, water in the branch
We ride along four men strong together
Every plain and ridge is our heritage: Ponderosa Ranch
Day by day, work or play, ready side by side
Hello friend, come on in, the gate is open wide
Bound to be a fightin' free bonanza
Singing pines of boundary lines for the Ponderosa Ranch
Thanks for posting this.
Thank you sir 💁🇩🇪
Lorne Greene had a whole album out about the Ponderosa. He was a pretty good singer in his own right.
Ringo!
I didn’t know about the album, but I remember the B side of Ringo was the Bonanza theme. Totally different lyrics than Johnny’s.
@@gwenmanz”Hoss and Joe and Adam know, that this land is mine!” Is the lyric that stands out from the Lorne Greene version.
@@mantonyTheFirst , I remember it as “ Hoss and Joe and Adam know every rock and pine, no one works , fights or eats like those boys of mine “. It’s amazing how these song lyrics stay in our heads isn’t it?
@@mantonyTheFirst As I recall it also includes "no one works, fights or eats like those boys of mine" does anyone else remember that part?
Johnny Cash rarely receives credit for his outstanding rhythm guitar playing. As evidenced here he was a great rhythm guitar player.
I liked what he did in a Columbo episode as well (where he was a preacher).
@@drslyone seems like he played a preacher on a Little House on the Prairie too
You're right, I did see that episode just yesterday on a German TV channel. It was the famous song "I saw the line". In that episode he commited a murder.
I love his style, its so clean and smooth sounding
@@drslyone
I don’t believe he was a preacher in that Columbo episode. He played a music star-an analog for himself. Just did churchy music I think.
Luther on that guitar is killer
Johnny's Don Rich.
such awesomeness, the young Johhny singing Bonanza! Childhood memories surfacing......
Two beautiful Spanish words, Bonanza and Ponderosa, whose meaning is this:
Bonanza: Prosperity, favorable economic or social development.
Ponderosa: That something is done or done with great care.
The Ponderosa ranch was land belonging to the Spanish territory "New Spain" where Indians like Jerónimo were Catholics and Spaniards who lived in peace and were not savages.
Until the independence of Mexico came and then the conquest of the United States, snatching and killing its inhabitants. This is history... Greetings from Andalusia in Spain 🇪🇸.
Thank you for the history and the translation. I also grew up with bonanza but only heard the instrumental of the song. Loved the words with it especially with Johnny Cash singing it. 😊❤
Colonisation and greed. The evil parts of humanity…
Thanks for your explanation! I learned Spanish, but didn't know those words/ meanings.
NOT QUITE SO. INDIANS WERE NEVER SPANIARDS. . NOT EVEN " CRIOLLOS"( SPANISH DESCENDANTS BORN IN AMERICA) WERE CONSIDERED SPANIARDS. AND SPAIN COMMITTED THE WORST GENOCIDE IN HISTORY, KILLING ALMOST 90% OF NATIVE POPULATION IN ITS FORMER ANERICAN COLONIES. LEARN HISTORY, THE REAL ONE, . NOT THE SPANISH BIASED.
@@albertamaycurtis1012 That's not history. That's a bunch of lies.

Luther Perkins facial expressions were priceless.

Great interpretation 👏👍🙏 RIP Johnny and all from the Bonanza Cast, who are no longer with us 🖤
I didnt know Johnny Cash was that hot🔥🌶
Luther’s face during his solo is his trademark look which you never know if he’s dead serious or laughing his ass off

Prototype Jaguar, Fender Super amp with the Presence set high with a external tank. Luther rocked that combo from 1961 to 1963
I love it. What a beast.

Luther Perkins was a low-key (in manner) and under-appreciated genius.
Just like Vic Flick of the James Bond theme.

O.M.G you send me back to the past...
I didn't even know there were words to Bonanza. I sure do remember watching the show. Also my Mom & Aunts calling each other to talk about "little Joe". They were discussing weather Little Joe would get married or if they'd (the writers) would kill the girl off the show. Naturally she died in a fire. Little Joe had to stay single. Mom & my Aunts did the same with Mat & Kitty from Gunsmoke.😄😄
Exactly same for me....😄😄😄
There is a second set of lyrics to the Bonanza theme music, as sung by Lorne Greene/ Ben Cartwright.

Also incase you didn't now, there were also lyrics to the themes for Dick Van Dyke and Andy Griffith Show

I was a die-hard bonanza fan as a kid. I have never heard the theme with lyrics. You did good Johnny, great tune.
Great guitar solo and facial expressions
Underrated solo...
I recall an episode of Cheers, where Norm, Cliff and others sang the Bonanza theme. Their version went something like: "We got a right to pick a little fight, Bonanza. Anyone of you want to fight with us is gonna fight with me."
This is the line from the lyric I was always taught.
It appears as well in one of Uncle John's Bathroom Readers.
Great to hear this version. I grew up and it was Loren Green who sang it and is still my favorite version
Yes
Lorne Green also sang the ballad "Ringo", remember?
Nearly 70 years and this is only the second time i hear the words.
That`s a classic for sure. I never knew it had words.

They had a good time which their smiles prove!
The best thing about Johnny Cash is actually Luther Perkins and his lovely guitar sound.
Hey how are you doing?
I can remember the Lorne Greene version, but I've never heard Johnny sing it. That was nice to see and hear.
I remember watching bonanza with my grandfather every Sunday night at 8 o'clock. He loved that show I think he must have gone through a pack of old gold every episode.
I could spend all day listening to and watching Luther Perkins👋👋👋👋👋👋❤️💋😉
I’m up to hour fifteen👍
Very cool to hear Johnny do this song. My favorite country singer doing a song about one of my favorite TV westerns.
What's most interesting about this remarkable piece of history is just how so infinitesimally small Johnny's microphone is.
Não conhecia a letra desta icônica canção instrumental que ouvia, da inesquecível série BONANZA da TV, desde minha infância. Ficou mais valiosa agora na voz de Johnny Cash. Bravo 👏👏👏
Realmente. Nem sabia que tinha letra. Bonanza e Johnny Cash: dois ícones!👏👏👏
Bonanza, Chaparral, Laredo(meu preferido), James West e Big Valley. Me lembro que passava na tv 1 em cada dia da semana, lá nos anos 70. Tô velho.

Song written by Ernie from my 3 Sons Tv show! 😎
He could make any song interesting
Lorne Greene sung this on the album "Ponderosa Party Time". It had different lyrics though. I guess they lightened it up for TV on this version.
Reminds me of the first time many years ago when I heard the theme song to the Andy Griffith Show sung by Andy himself (Fishin' Hole). These gems are probably the best thing about CZcams.
Even Bewitched has lyrics.

I never realized how handsome Johnny Cash was. ❤
Visited the Bonanza Ranch many a times, in Tahoe. Did the hayride breakfast, then the TV town of Virginia City. Perfect!!
I was lucky enough to see him live 3 or 4 times. He had the most amazing magnetism. You just couldn't take your eyes off him. He and June had great chemistry and one show also had her sister Anita who had a fabulous voice.

There's a part that he didn't sing, goes "If anyone fights with any one of us, he's gonna fight with me."
Found it. There are two versions of the song, one official, the other Johnny Cash:
Bonanza Theme Song Lyrics
We chased lady luck, 'til we finally struck Bonanza.
With a gun and a rope and a hat full of hope, planted a family tree.
We got hold of a potful of gold, Bonanza.
With a horse and a saddle, and a range full of cattle, how rich can a fellow be?
On this land we put our brand Cartwright is the name, fortune smiled, the day we filed the Ponderosa claim.
Here in the West, we're livin' the best, Bonanza
If anyone fights any one of us, he's gonna fight with me
Bonanza.
Hoss and Joe and Adam know every rock and pine/ No one works, fights or eats, like those boys of mine.
Here we stand in the middle of a grand Bonanza.
With a gun and a rope and a hatful of hope, we planted our family tree
We got hold of a pot full of gold, Bonanza.
With a houseful of friends where the rainbow ends, how rich can a fellow be?
On this land we put our brand, Cartwright is the name, fortune smiled, the day we filed the Ponderosa claim.
Here in the west we're livin' in the best Bonanza.
With the friendliest, fightingist, loving band, that ever set foot in the promised land
And we're happier than them all.
That's why we call it Bonanza...Bonanza...Bonanza...
Bonanza!
