"But if a corvette driver loses a street race, they'll call the cops."
I am lost in laughter.
You ruined the punchline :/
Urtext that's the reason you MUST NOT check comments before or while watching video
Urtext You're the one who spoil the punchline. I didn't said it is the punchline or anything, do I?
DustyRabit Dacia Guys who like American cars only are annoying
Yup. Lost my shit. So, so fucking true.
"They just go buy more polo shirts"
Accuracy is unreal
I TAPED ONE THIRD OF MY WINDSHIELD SO IT WORKS LESS
IgnoramusMare I'm so glad I'm not the only one bothered by that.
For track day purposes, it acts as a giant sun visor, because when you get to the last few runs of the day and the sun is getting lower, you don't want to be staring directly into the sun going 75 through a tight corner.
Yup, I have this on my race cars. I think it's probably the same size too but the Porsche's windshield is smaller so it looks larger :D
Do you even racecar bro?!
Race events usually require you to put sponsor stickers on your car. The windshield banner is a common one, and yes, in some cars it's annoying. In others, it's just fine.
Is this a subaru? one of us. one of us. one of us. one of us. One of us. One of us. one of US. One of Us. ONE of US. ONE OF US ONE OF US
Kikker861 *flat four rumbling in the backround*

*RUNNING IN THE NINETIES!!!!!* (dololololol dololololol do do do tu tu do do do tu tu)
*SHEMALE PORN ADDICTION*
deja vu?
I'm getting texts from people I haven't talked to in years telling me my ass in a car review video. It was a pleasure meeting you, nice job on the vid!
Let me think about it for a while
I thought about it. Pass.
If I had a dollar for every time I heard that I'd buy you bongo drums.
I got a dollar for you for every time you let me do it.
I bet the ladies love it.
There was this red Porsche next to them while they were filming the cayman, that was a Porsche Flatnose, it was created for racing purposes and there were little to none of them. and it was just sitting there like any old 3.2.
Mr regular always uploads at IRREGULAR hours
techno.logic it's 6 pm where I live, so that's not that irregular
techno.logic nuthin irregular about 6pm on a school night! UTC+10 reprahzheeent!
James Ferro he tends to do it around 4am (EST) for whatever reason.
James Bos I'd love to see RCR do an Australian trip and explore Aussie car culture
Jeremy Clegg I know! would be awesome to see him in something like a EA Falcon or a VK Commodore!
That was a classic RCR great ending statement.
The bit about the Vette guys calling the cops if they lose was so accurate. Haha
"Oh shoot honey I lost to a corvette today" -husband of a Porsche "it's okay lets go to Bloomingdales and buy you more polos" -wife
you're telling me that I could have gotten a Cayman less than my fucking Civic!? insurance be damned!
I bought a 987 boxster, same gen as the car reviewed for 14.9 k and insurance is around $80 / month
shadowreaver752 There is one catch to its bargain used car price: intermediate shaft bearing. It is a bearing that is connected to the camshaft end that meets the transmission. Very costly to fix and it is not under warranty.
Doesn't apply to Caymans or Boxsters.
does apply to early boxsters and probably early caymans too.
For a Pre-06 (I think), just replace it along with the clutch and you'll be fine. The newer ones I believe have a reworked bearing but it isn't user serviceable. The IMS thing is WAY over blown, as long as you take care of it as a wear item it's no big deal... It keeps the prices lower though for the rest of you though!
I've got a 987 Boxster S with the same mods, and you perfectly described everything about these cars. It's uncanny - right down to the Bumble comments. Keep up the good work!
Vetts fans gunna be triggerd
iliovecaRS perhaps, but some of us can take a good joke! 👍🏼
iliovecaRS I really wanna see leeroy race this tho. Cos if this Porsche won that then I'd be Uber impressed
Vett owners have spines and can take a good joke. It's not like we are driving mustangs.
I like Corvettes (except the C5 and the C6) and I don't mind the jokes.
iliovecaRS You should have seen what our old Mercedes did to a new 5.0 Mustang on the highway last Thanksgiving! XD
I ship Mr. Regular and Stef Schrader
dyran We all do.
"Oooooohhh... sweet, sweet nectar. It's like my pool is tearing ass around the back yard. But it's stayin' still. Still waters run deep." -Carl
that last statment will piss of corvette owners......... and i love it
But is that based on truth, I wonder? Cuz that was a pretty specific statement.
bigvirgotube At least in a straight line, the Cayman R can't beat any Corvette from the past 20 years except a base C5.
@@alpinez28 Straight lines are for science experiments. Real racing has corners.
@@alpinez28 A Cayman still has more horse power per pound than a corvette due to their very light weight so even if the corvette has more hp in total it wouldn’t beat it plus the fact that Corvettes (except the C8) are way less aerodynamic than a Porsche.
When Mr.Regular gets CZcams money and a Porsche becomes a regular car ;)
money wise, at least on the used market, it is.
did you even listen to what he said?
Behemothokun But how about the upkeep costs?
Keksi the Labrador I have an older boxster and it's been fairly reliable. If you go to the dealer it's definitely expensive though ($150 per hour). Independent mechanics are probably much better with pricing.
Doesn't he review not so regular cars at the end of each season?
this is one of the channels I always regularly watch and like. thanks for making us regular mr regular
It´s 10 AM in Europe suck it
miki is the one yeah 💪 perfect time for coffee and RCR
miki is the one 9AM.

miki is the one It's 4 at indonesia
2:24 Flat Nose Porsche spotted
Yeah man...That's the one I'd like to try :-)
Me too! In the car world it's a true Unicorn
let the corvette win!!!!....... nah fuck'em smug middle aged/retiree racer wannabees, but if it's somebody under 40, brace yourself and because it's going to be a fun race.
Hi :D < 40 C5 Z06 track car owner here!
actually you get away with it because you drive my favourite corvette generation.
I've only ever met one other person under like 50 that owned a Corvette. When I go to the track, all the old men come over and talk to me :[
chbrules here in Australia theres C4's and C3's everywhere with retirees driving them and they try and race you and it just gets really annoying, but there was one that was a '63 split window in blue that looked like it just rolled off the assembly line, I dread to think how much that'd be worth
I have a 450hp saturn sky - went to a meet-up once and felt very out of place so I feel ya. I'm 33
This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I sure do love red accents
Did I notice a quality bump? Really good looking and edited video. Love you guys.
If anyone in the comments was curious about purchasing a Cayman but are afraid of paying the "Porsche tax":
I bought a 2008 Cayman S. Manual, black interior and exterior, 80k miles and only bought it for $21,000. That was before the trade in value of my other car was added. Insurance with USAA landed me at $60 a month (and having the S model didnt matter apparently) Clean driving record. Honestly if youre considering a Cayman as a daily, in the words of our Lord LeBouf "Just do it". Greatest car ive ever owned simply because it just feels good being in it. Also the car maintenance is only expensive when you do it through Porsche. Other mechanics are a decent alternative.
The Subaru joke... oh man... seriously, and then the ending was so perfect.
N O T I F I C A T I O N B O I S
Ive driven one of these. Can confirm that it is an absolutely amazing car. And on the corvette thing. Whether it would win it a race is irrelevant. Even in the unlikely even that they do lose, the guy in the porsche is less scared, and having more fun, because it's so easy to go fast in a Cayman R.
Best ending I think i've ever seen on an RCR review. Excellent work as always, guys.
Stef Schrader... are you jealous?
Stef Schrader... are you jarglous?
Stef Schrader, are you Jarvis?
BIST DU NEIDISCH, FRAU SCHRADER?
... what's up, Stef?

Corvettes must be different in america. everyone talks about them as sad dad boomer symbols, yet all of the owners I've met in Aus (I owned a C4 at 18 because I wanted one) have been 33 or younger. I guess we might just appreciate them more as a platform than america does, because here you own a corvette for the drive, not for the symbolism.
Lots of Americans love the Vette, of all ages. They just don't have a CZcams channel which specializes in snark.
RCR is great shit but he gets hard talking about older American men losing influence. Don't take it too seriously.
...there's a level of truth in RCR's snark. some people are just more sensitive to their own stereotype being flaunted back so accurately, and the irony here is they blast "snowflake" at everyone. waiting patiently for the day my Gen X'ers have our own failings mirrored back, and we say "whatever" again (which i think will be our ironic fault - not caring enough).
@@craytoncaswell4558 RCR does make a good point about the typical corvette owner. I remember watching a Vin wiki story about buying used corvettes and it checked all the boxes
Corvette owner with a Corvette channel here. I love the Cayman. I love my Corvette more bc I put my money where my mouth is, but I still love the Cayman. Great video as always!
you sure does put dat respek in da vette name... ya heer
Not brown
diltzm not diesel, not long roof, not Jalop.
it's 3am dude

Yung Trev not in Australia :)
PazmatiKz 6:45 in Queensland ;-)
This color setup makes it look like the Yakuza Stinger from GTA3 and Liberty City Stories.
Owned a C6 and a C7 but now I'm on my second 987 gen Cayman. Perfect car for the twisty back roads where I live.
Corvette Grand Sport: The official car of "i'll never need anything that goes faster around a corner"
Everyone talking about how he uploads at late times, meanwhile it's 11:00 AM for me so I would say perfect timing for me.
hey I mean schools out now so i gonna watch this at 2 am without feel guilty.
Great job Mr.Regular hope you make more vids when I get my frist truck I will do the steps to get you to review it.
I love this channel so much it makes me think it must be illegal
I can't believe RCR doesn't have 1 millions subs
1:21. "Twansmission"
1AM in Cali but that won't stop me from watching an RCR vid!
Nice version of "brick". You guys always do a good job.
Dear Mr Regular,
Porsch-eeeeh.
This would make the video perfect.
Yours sincerely,
A German Lover.
Andreas Prokscha t
He purposely said it like that to piss you off.
Baby Jesus cries with me all the time.
As a German speaker, there really isn't as much emphasis on the e as Americans say it with. The "porsh" pronunciation is closer.
Yeah it's correctly pronounced more like: Porsh-eh
The "eh" being very short. Almost like "uh" or "euh" - Porsh-euh
But it's not important. Americans also spell "Heckler & Koch" wrong. They spell "Koch" like "Cock" or "Coke" because they don't have the "ch" sound in english. But be german and try spelling an american car how you would spell it in german and americans freak out. Can't have both ways boys.
The whole commentary at the end could almost replace "Corvettes" with "1911s" and "Porsche" with either a brand new 9 mm Sig.
I was going for the 9mm/45acp because he said superior in every way except displacement, but didn't say Glock because they are kind of the Honda Civic or Toyota Camry of guns. Not sexy but reliable. I said Sig because they do make some quality pistols that don't all look alike.
Fair enough.
After doing extensive research, I purchased a 9mm Sig p229 e2 as my first handgun. In the nearly ten years since I bought it, It has been the most reliable gun I've ever had the pleasure to work with. I don't mind 1911s, but I certainly prefer my 15 round double stack over a 7 round single stack any day.
1911s helped win WW2 and still serve MARSOC today. They're the Jeep of the gun world, not the Corvette.
MARSOC is actually replacing the M45 (which I did a video on) with a Glock 19. I am not necessarily comparing the 1911 to a Corvette (although I have called the Ruger SR1911 the Corvette of 1911s as it is exponentially better than 1911s that are just $100 cheaper and 95% the quality of something that costs twice as much), but his whole commentary about the Corvette can apply to the 1911.
That last line was possibly one of the best *zingers* ever produced by this channel
Starting to get the old angry raunchiness back into RCR. It's refreshing and about time.
Throughout the Heian period, the power of the imperial court declined. The court became so self-absorbed with power struggles, and with the artistic pursuits of court nobles, that it neglected the administration of government outside the capital.[44] The nationalization of land undertaken as part of the ritsuryō state decayed as various noble families and religious orders succeeded in securing tax-exempt status for their private shōen manors.[45] By the eleventh century, more land in Japan was controlled by shōen owners than by the central government. The imperial court was thus deprived of the tax revenue to pay for its national army. In response, the owners of the shōen set up their own armies of samurai warriors.[48] Two powerful noble families that had descended from branches of the imperial family,[49] the Taira and Minamoto clans, acquired large armies and many shōen outside the capital. The central government began to employ these two warrior clans to help suppress rebellions and piracy.[50] Although Japan's population stabilized during the late-Heian period after hundreds of years of decline,[51] this was accompanied by the growth of a new class of slaves composed of poor farmers, debtors, and criminals sold into bondage.
BurnAfterEating you okay man
Thank you for this history lesson.
BurnAfterEating I had a social studies test, thanks dude
BurnAfterEating is it Japan history month in the comments section?
wooooooooo bondage yeah we gonna get fukin kinky.
Hi Everyone. It's 4am. Good morning.
Not in Best Coast time :D
the songs at the beginning and end are getting a lot better !
A poetic contribution as always, Mr. Regular.
what about the young vette drivers in their mid to late 20s pushing c5's c6's and even c7's around? I also dont get the sandbagging the cayman has to do to let a vette win. A vette of the same production model year will outperform a cayman any day sans the snobbery and pretentious image
Not if there is a even a slight bend in the path.
Ok,so a priest, a rabbi, and a Muslim cleric walk into a bar. The cleric having abstained from alcohol due to religious constrictions, does not drink, and his friends decide to do the same. They spend the night laughing and having a good time
Was that an anti-joke, or is there some meta I'm missing here?
MegaEmmanuel09 correct, you may carry on youtubing.
their was a priest, minister, and a rabbi, and they were our playing golf one day and were deciding how much money they're going to give to charity. so the priest says we'll draw a big circle on the ground, and throw the money up in the air and whatever lands inside the circle we'll give to charity. the minister says no, we'll draw a big circle on the ground, we'll throw the money real high in the air, and whatever lands outside the circle we'll give to charity. the rabbi says no, we'll draw a circle on the ground we'll throw the money way up in the air, and whatever God wants he keeps.
Might wanna slow down on that reverb in the intro song...Great video as always!!!
10/10 review. This will be my next car. Most likely a base model, or S. So much car for the money on the used market right now.
it's just a Volkswagen.... beetle
That's adding more insult to vette drivers.
I am a Volvo Ford person
a pretty fucking fast beetle though....
i sexually identify as an attack helicopter
If I saw this statement on a t-shirt...
Porsches are for rich dudes Buggatis For the win !
Joke damn it I'd rather take porsche than buggatis
Frizzie
I have taste so I’d go for an etype.
this channel is upping their game
5:41 - 5:45 Hover round Mobility Scooter that fits the exact corvette guys he's describing!!! lmaoooooo
This is a 2012 Cayman, you can't compare it to a C5 Corvette. Compare it to the C6 or C7.
The C5 Vette will win because it has 350-400 hp at the wheels stock. It is way faster than the Cayman, even around certain circuits. Believe it or not, the Corvette can take a corner!
CL Anthony He never specified which Vette, he probably just had more b-roll of the C5.
CL Anthony You
You are the Corvette owner Mr. Regular is talking about in this video.
He seems to forget how many PIT maneuvers the Porsches on the tracks have had to pull just to keep the Corvette from soundly beating them.
CL Anthony not at the wheels dumbass
I never comment but that last comment was BRUTAL and a little too real.
DAMN Mr. R.
That was a great Maurice Fisher reference! kudos
Man, I haven't heard "Brick" in forever. Thanks, Roman.
@2:17... Stef reference, well done I lulzed out loud
That Ben Folds Five cover is one of the most slept on cover choices.
Love the parody of Brick at the end.
Wow, a reference to The Office and an RCR Ben Folds Five cover. Nice. Also, a Porsche.
I like how Aggressive WRX Guy has become the villain of Regular Car Reviews
I have Ferodo brake pads on my 928 and love them. Still more interested in the Boxster Spyder in the background at 2:13 than the Cayman you are reviewing.
That exhaust sounds perfect
04dram04 thank you! Although I'm sure that Lambo sounds even better haha
Yeah, I dropped the mercedes. but could only source adjustable camber links for the rear. Anyway, proper camber for rear helps with even tire wear on wide tires. I guess even wear is good because whole tire on surface. However, for the narrower fronts with the heavy engine, a good bit of negative camber got those wearing evenly too, so while the look was slightly off, it held onto the road tight.
The intro song is amazing
The Roland's songs always make my heart happy.
This is my second favorite car, after the gen 1 Acura NSX. It's so cleverly made and the Type R is Porsche showing exactly how close they're willing to go to outperforming the 911. Except you know there's more room for growth if you're willing to pay to play.
Love my Cayman as well. Brilliant cars.
Dont be afraid to go nuts once in a while. It is still youtube. You can do it. That is why we love you.
This is hands down my favorite RCR.
Gotta get some trackday experience my friend. It's not as intimating or unaccessible as some people make it out to be. I already have done my first 2 trackdays just in the past month and I'm on track to do about 2-3 more this year.
I will maintain that the Porsche Cayman is the best car I've ever driven and the one I drove was a 2007 non s 2.7L. The way it rotates around corners is like nothing else, even on the street if you give it some gas around a turn, it's like a video game, I have no other way of describing it. It's also my favorite looking Porsche next to the 996. If they didn't have the IMS issues I would own one, so I guess I'll have to wait until the later models come down in price
i think that was the best review this year
When I thought RCR couldn't get any better, Roman sings a song about a Porsche to the tune of "Brick" by Ben Folds.
That flatnose in the workshop though! 😍
As an Australian I appreciate uploading at a reasonable time
My dream car, or at least the Cayman S After shopping around last year (and not finding much locally) I bought a new Focus ST. Love the ST, but it's far from a Porsche. And I never got owning a Cayman out of my system. So when I've worn out the ST, I'll be back in the market, and next time I'll be willing to go much farther to get "the one"
as a porsche owner I can tell you the advantage of buying a 2nd hand porsch is you look money even though 2nd hand porsche's are dirt cheap. Also as the designs don't change much over the years the average person is not going to know your car is 15 years old.
the big downside is 2nd hand porsche's may be cheap to buy but they cost a fortune to maintain. every replacement part down to the most mundane are 4 times the price of any other car.
If you buy an old porsche from the early 2000's expect to dump $5K+ a year in general maintanence.
Respect for the Brick cover, guys. Long live Ben Folds Five.
I appreciate the Inception reference, Mr Regular
That is shot a mile from my house. I drive down that straight and turn next to fab speed. Oh baby, I'm so happy
What is the outro song a cover of? The chord progression and vocal lines make for a nice combo.
Onto my 2nd 911 997/991 won't settle for anything else, but surprisingly a lot more affordable than people think.
ungh you tease taking a shot of that RSR badge
I saw a yellow one of these day and besides the fact it was yellow, I was actually in awe.
Now i'm just a teenager and i've been watching RCR for a few years now. I find it quite funny how the older i get, more of the references i understand. Now my question for you Mr. R (or The Roman) is what tv-shows and/or movies should i watch so i could understand even more of the references. Oh and books too, i got into Hunter S. just because of you Mr. R
-Cheers from Finland!
Congrats, Regular Car Guy.
Next up, eyes wide shut parties...
I'm surprised it took you guys so long to make one of the intro/outro song to "Brick". Seemed right up your guys' alley.
Moose 17 I just realized that after doing "The Freshman" for the 330ci review, this is now the second song about abortion that I've parodied here.
both of these songs are right next to each other in my heavy duty 90's playlist. Always associated them with each other.
That might have been the most damning thing anyone has ever said about corvette drivers.
You've gotta do a few track days, you learn so much about driving and car control
I’ve wanted a cayman since they got released.
Porsche tried so hard to keep this chassis below the 9-11, but it’s just better.
It handles quite a bit better, imo.
It just needs power to match the 9-11. Then it’s faster around a track.
Wow that's great consumer advice. I was looking into buying a a cheaper Porsche like a 996 but they are just so old at this point. A base model Cayman with half the miles and that's 5/6 years newer is some how cheaper. Cheers regular car dude.
