- Here's the long version video I took while taking Boogaboo across Lake Simcoe for the first cruise! We had the boat booked in for a complete canvas replacement and this was the day to take it to Canadian Yacht Tops to have the work done.
As the place is located roughly 27 miles away by water, this was a great opportunity to give her a good run for a decent distance. Happy to say that the trip went without incident and the boat performed flawlessly.
This video will also give you an idea of how I drive/steer by just using the shifters. I'll be posting a more descriptive overview on that subject soon, so please keep an eye on my channel for it - and much more.

What a beautiful boat. I had a 1998 24' Sundancer. My plan was to start out with that and then work my way up to a 30 footer. My wife wasn't a big fan of boat life, so we sold it. I'll do it again someday. Maybe I just need a more comfortable mattress for her.

im without boat, now. I cut my teeth on a 380DA. Some of the best boat memories I'll ever have. Keep up with your vids. I'm living vicariously through you at the moment. Yeah, you're doing great work with the GoPros. They're amazing cameras. With the wide angle they eliminate the need for stabilizers or fussing with them much. I like the long format vids. I always enjoyed your Sunday night vids. Okay, so I have a lot of time on my hands these days LOL!

+Ron Fanning If I had my way, I'd be tossing everything that had Raymarine on it overboard. Never been a fan. Will be looking at swapping the while works out next season. Plotter, radar and VHF. Gotta replenish the #boating budget first though

Hello from Rhode Island! Loved your video. In fact, when I started watching, I thought, wow, I have the same boat! But nope, I actually have the Sea Ray 340 Amberjack. 1999. But your boat looks so similar. I bought it last year used, somewhat a similar story. Brought it around from Plymouth MA to Narragansett Bay in RI. 123 miles! My brother and I were wiped out. But the boat ran well. This year I updated the canvas, headers risers raw water pumps etc......So its getting back to being "happy". It sat for several years. Its name is Quidnick! So congrats on the new boat. The Sundancer is a popular model. Love the Amberjack too - its so wide and a very heavy boat. I have the 7.4 Mercs as well.
+Alan Rothfuss Very cool! When we bought our last #boat in 2010 (our Sea Ray 400 Sedan Bridge - lots of vids on my channel for that beauty), it was from just outside of Detroit, all the way home to Ontario, for a total trip of 662 miles. That was an adventure!
It sounds like you've done a bit of hands on work on your baby. I tend to do all my own repairs and upgrades as well. Check out my DIY playlist for lots of getting g my hands dirty on the last boat - plus much more to come on this 'new' one.
As an aside, I've enjoyed a few 'Narragansett Beers' back in the day, as my brother in law was in Boston for some schooling, way back in the late 1970's and brought us some home to try. Is that even brewed anymore?

Haha...omg, that brought back memories - Narragansett Beer! It was actually brewed very close to where I grew up in Warwick- the brewery was about 3 miles from us in Cranston RI. I don't think its around anymore but I have clear images of my dad and uncle enjoying the brew!

Great! This 330 #Sundancer is our fifth (!!) #SeaRay and we love it. After downsizing from our 400 Sedan Bridge, I thought it might feel too cramped, but happy to be loving the sportiness of being back in an express style #boat again. Those big 7.4 Mercruisers are a welcome improvement over the twin 350's we had in the 300 DA, years ago.
I'm struggling with the I/O vs. V-drive decision. Both are available but I'm leaning toward I/O for the performance gain. What's your take on that debate?
Great video my friend. Thanks! I'm SO hooked on boating - and Sea Ray's! The lifestyle is so relaxing and freeing, if you will. I'm a newbie, so it may take a couple of years for my dream vessel. But know that i will own and operate one day. I can envision some overnight boating as well. Here in New Iberia, LA. (Home of Tabasco), I am just mere minutes from the Gulf. Tankers used to pass through on the Bayou Teche right down the street from me. So, it won't be a problem hugging the coastline and getting to Florida! Really loved your vid. I'm all in! Sea Ray is the way! Happy Holidays and yes I'm a sub now! Blessins to you and the family.
We started 25 years ago, with an 18' runabout before 'moving up' to our first Sea Ray - a 1976 24' Sundancer. Currently on Ray Number SIX and loving it!

Hey.... good video..... we took our boat for a 3 hour ride down to the delta today!!! Whoop woop!! Our maiden outta town no work on the boat voyage!! Funny you had a banana..... I had the wife remove 3 fresh bananas prior to our departure. Neighbor took the bananas and said he's eating them on the dock, not the boat. Trying to put a video together as well! Looking forward to more adventures !!! Way to go captain 👩✈️!!

+1armedguy Agreed. But for now, that's gonna suffice. Still have a list of priority jobs to do a full arm's length long. And you know how it is - one job inevitably leads to another. Like my simple genny impeller replacement.
On that note, found a rebuild kit for the water pump. $600 later, I'll be doing that project next week, so keep an eye for the co.pmete video!

When running at 3200 rpm did you have your tabs down?
love the sound of those V8s. Question. I'm trying to workout the 2 throttle things next to the steering wheel. I thought 1 for each engine with 1 lever for forward/reverse and the other lever for throttle. But watching you it doesnt workout that way. So I give up what are they. Thanks
John Rybka looks like the controls on the left are for reverse and forward for both engines and the controls on the right is for throttle.
+John Rybka The two on the Port side if the helm are the shifters, and the two on the starboard side are throttles.
I'll be doing a more descriptive video on how they work, coming up soon, as I get a lot of request for that!

I'll be doing a more in depth video to show how they are used, as well as how to steer using only the levers, with no I put from the wheel. As I watched you going across the bay, I noticed something you were doing constantly that I discovered drives me nuts on my Bayliner 2855. The hight of my seat, puts my eyesight directly in front of the top trim of the window and it makes me crazy... always trying to look over or hunch my back so I can look under... oh well... I guess it is what it is. thinking of chopping the seat 1.5 inches... ? I keep ya posted... p.s. nice video!

how did you trailer it home? isn't it too wide? here in mass width is 8'-5" (i think) and bigger needs a wide load permit to be trailered on the road.

Funny to see the same fuel gauge problems like i have on my 340 DA, after less than 50% of fuel left, the gauges is in sync again in my boat.. =)
Do you have any small vibrations on your boat at sertain rpm? i put some zinks on the shafts and i don't know how well they are balanced, maybe that was a bad move.

Hoping you see this. I have a 2004 340DA, same fuel gauge issue. Did you fix yours? What did it entail? New senders or a connection or gauge issue?

Nice video. I've had a 1999 310 sundancer since she was new and we love it. At LOA 34 and a beam of 11'2" she's wider than today's boats of similar length. We run Mercruiser 5.7L MPI's and find the performance to be a perfect fit for her size. As for tabs, I noticed you were sitting in the helm seat, so needed to lower the bow a bit. No big deal, whatever makes you comfortable. I usually run standing up and lean against the bolster seat. That gives me great visibility while on plane and clean line of sight to see any floating logs, flotsam, or the myriad of lobster pots here on the north shore of Boston. Check out a few boating videos on my CZcams channel and you'll see a bit of the boat. I have lots of video that I'll put on here over the winter. Enjoy your season!
When we first decided to sell our 400 Sedan Bridge last year, the 310 Sundancer was the first #boat we were considering to replace her. Agree that it's quite sizeable for is LOA. We happened to watch a video last night on the 2017 320 'Dancer was were thoroughly underwhelmed. Not sure when it happened, but #SeaRay has definitely made a sideways turn with their styling over the last few years. Sad to see such a venerable marque loose the classic and passionate styling that was their hallmark for decades :-(

I agree about the new SeaRays. They measure them different too, not LWL, use LOA now. My 99 310 has 31 feet of hull in the water. Today, the 310 or 320 has about 27 to 28 feet and is a smaller beam. To get nearly the same beam and length of my 99 310 today, I'd have to buy the current 350 model. Strange. I was at the boat show, in Boston, this winter and went to the SeaRay display. I was on several of them and the sales person asked what I thought. My reply was I've owned 3 SeaRays and loved them all but if I was buying today, none of these would make my list. The hulls are thinner, narrower and offer less room than my old 99 310. The sales prices are absolutely crazy. I said it looks like you don't want to sell new boats given the prices. My 99 310, new, was $125K off a list of $160K. The 350 I looked at was retailing for ~$260 or $280K. If I had that kind of cash to spend I'd buy a used Sabre Yacht. So things have changed. As a result of all this, I re-powered my 310 and changed one transmission. She runs and looks great, albeit the style is showing her age a bit. We'll see what time brings but for now it's all the boat I need.
Can you do the great loop in that boat?
In theory, yes, but most prefer diesel powered boats for that 6,000 mile adventure for both the superior range, as well as the availability of that fuel source. For us, we will stick with gas power ;-)
I am curious to know what accessory you use to attach the GoPro to your railing.
Non, as I've never attached any of my GoPro cameras to a railing. Always attach to hard surfaces using the GoPro suction cup mount 👍
@@BoatingWithBoogaboo thank you for the quick reply. What editing software do you use? By the way I used to own a 330 sundancer myself with the twin 7.4's, that was a great boat. Well with the exception of trying to do anything in the engine compartment.
@@SeaRay380DA I've used the same software for the past 10 years - Sony Vegas 11.0. Spoiler alert; It's no longer available and despite multiple attempts to upgrade it to the current version, a no go. I've tried pretty much everything out there from Adobe, Davinci, and on and on, but I keep coming back to Vegas 11. Works well for my purposes.

Quick question, What year is your 330? I think you mentioned in your video you had the twins 7.4 right? I found a few very clean 330s and 370s, it's hard to find diesels so i might get a gas one for a year or two. I'm from Montreal but the boat will be registered in Miami that's why i'm hoping to find a larger vessel. Thanks.

Wow she looks great and I loved the vid, but I never understand why US boats nearly always have twin lever controls ? They are difficult to use and it is very easy to get it totally wrong in an emergency situation and for a few Bucks more they could fit single lever controls, which are easy to use - if you need to stop you just pull them back and if you really !! need to stop you just pull them back a little bit more.
I really don't understand it and its so un American, you would never find a manual shift Cadillac with wind up windows and no AC but spend even more money on a boat and you still get the Flintstones way of doing things. There must be a reason for it but I cannot think of it or is this the first thing I have found in 59 years that we do better in the UK !!!!
+Chris Flower Not to dilute your pints, but I've been on both sides of the equation our last Sundancer had I/O's with the setup you described, but current #boat is equipped with inboard power, hence the twin controls arrangement. After having that on our last boat, I much, much prefer it. I'm sure if you were to try it yourself, you'd feel how much more responsive and confidence building it is...

+SuperJlonergan The issue here was the fact that idle was running way too high on both engines, forcing me to compensate for the lurching g the #boat was doing. I've since fixed that and you'll be happy to know that I'm much more gentle with it.

Ya, I'm brand new, with only 45 years experience of boating on these waters, but what do I know? Don't worry about it man, as I realize you clearly have no idea of what it's like to be boating in the north.
Unlike the warm waters of the Bahamas, the water temps in the lake that early Spring day would have been only a little over freezing. And given the fact that there were probably only one or two boats out on that vast lake that day - plus the fact I was traveling a mile or more off shore, plus the fact that the boat was completely new to me (first cruise aboard her after just buying it), plus the fact that I was alone on the boat, there were many factors involved. Me wearing a life jacket was not only prudent, but it would have been foolhardy to not wear it on this day. Yes, if things went bad and I had to jump in the water, I wanted a chance to make it back to my family before hypothermia kicked in. Yes, hypothermia is a big word, but it means basically freezing to death, but why would you know about those things in the Bahamas?
I know this reply is a waste of time, but next time you start typing your comments, maybe take a look at the contributors channel to get a little background on the situation before formulating a complete idea in your head as to what is going on.
