Great video! We just got a Goldendoodle and I appreciate having realistic expectations about what is in store. Question - what kind of floors do you have? Do they hold up well with your dogs? I’m looking to replace my flooring and want something dog friendly.

Get stick down planks, if the dogs ruin a few planks, you can easily just remove damaged planks and replace with the extras you bought to begin with. Tongue and grove or snap together won’t allow you to do this

That’s great!!! I love that you are doing such great things with your dog!!!!!!! I TOTALLY recommend golden and labradoodles to anybody that can give like 1-1.5 hours of daily exercise and that has the time for one. They are awesome!
      My dog knows:
      Sit
      Down
      Sit pretty
      Jump
      Jump through my arms
      Jump over my leg
      Jump over/on top of things

      Salute
      Shake
      Wave Hello
      Army crawl
      Fist bump
      Place
      Heel
      Heel between legs
      Jump through a hoop
      Say your prayers
      Two paws up
      Wait
      She is learning:
      Take a bow
Put paws on an object (not my arm) and say her prayers
      Weave through weaving poles

i feel like this video put a downer on golden doodles ! i have one and he is literally the opposite what you are explaining! he is very very very relaxed and doesn't even like going outside. yes the fur is sometimes hard to manage but if you keep on-top of it it isn't a problem (like most dogs). they are very very smart dogs and easy to train, great around kids and can even be around people who are allergic to dogs ! my brother is allergic to dogs and hasn't found a problem with our boy who is now 10 years old. these are some of the many reasons why golden doodles are becoming assistant dogs and are visiting hospitals etc because they are calm and relaxed! maybe rather than saying "these are all the reasons YOU DO NOT WANT a golden-doodle" you could rephrase it to, things i wish i knew about my golden doodle before i got them or challenges of having a golden-doodle. i feel this would completely change the vibe of this video rather than saying stuff like "have i put you off having a golden-doodle yet" is the aim of the video to put people off this breed?? or to enlighten potential buyers of the challenges they may or may not face? x

Adopting from a breeder is not a sin! If you get a dog from a dedicated, dog loving breeder that does not mean you are doing something bad. If you can rescue, you should. But if you or someone close to you has a dog allergy, it is safer to get a dog from a breeder. If we didn’t have breeders so many people would not be able to get dogs. You should never make people feel ashamed of adopting from a breeder. If you pay money for the dog, you buy it. If you bring a dog into your family legally, you adopt it. Rescue is great, but it isn’t a sin to get your dog from a breeder. I think this is important to say. I love your vids and I am not on a opposing side, I just don’t want people that got their dogs from breeders to feel bad.

This woman needs to do some research on goldendoodles. You cannot tell if this is a pro or con video. No 1. Must well bred F1 goldendoodles do not have more diseases. They actual have some hybrid vigor that helps them from having diseases from the parent lines. No 2. I have a curly goldendoodle who only needs brushing once a week or so. He has a long beautiful tail that I keep very long and we go into woods and bushes all the time and if he gets byes I just put him in the bath rub conditioner on him and gently curl him out. My friends who have curlier doodle do get them groomed about every 6 weeks which can be expensive. I do my own grooming about every 2 months with a cut. It dies take some time and patience but really not that difficult. I also have a wavy hair F 1 goldendoodle that is very easy to brush and groom. Obviously she adopted a dog with poodle type hair. Not all goldendoodles have this type of hair. Depending on the breeding and generation. She may have a F1b which is a F1 bred back to a poodle and some of them have curly hair like the poodle. People have had poodles fir generations so most know what they are getting into when they get the goldendoodle. Everyone should do research before purchasing any type of dog. She did not mention that the pros are they usually do not shed or shed less then their golden parent. They are devoted loving family dogs. My digs do not have to be by my side every minute. They will play with themself for hours or take a nap when I am working. I just hate it the this woman misrepresents goldendoodles and all the wonderful qualities you get out of raising these wonderful animals. The only other thing I would say is get an F1 or F1b if you are purchasing a goldendoodle. And please adopt an older goldendoodle. They are wonderful companions. She adopted a goldendoodle that she probably know nothing about their breeding or what they have gone through that may have made him more clingy.

Iris Rose hey ! How long would it be on it’s own at a time ? Because everyone in my house also has full time jobs and my boy is usually home by himself for a maximum of 6 hours at a time. He always does good. Unfortunately in the beginning stages when they’re little it’s more difficult because they need potty breaks and stuff and you don’t want to keep your pup in the crate for 6 hours straight. I stopped crating my boy at 6 months because it was causing him a lot of distress. He was trying to hurt himself in there and does much better being free. Mine did have some separation anxiety in the beginning. But quickly learned that I always come back and he’s really good now. I recommend maybe getting one of those anti chew sprays to spray on those baseboards lol, my boy shredded mine 😅 give him lots to do while you’re gone! Lots of toys and maybe something to chew on ?

So to the people who have doodle dogs, and it's working out for you...great! But this is for the people who are considering them just because of how adorable and unique they look, then once they get one, they end up putting them in a shelter later on.

I’m getting a mini doodle soon, yes I’m prepared for them being hyper because most of my friends have them haha. What do you recommend to keep their fur healthy in order to maintain them happy? I’m so happy you’re spreading the message of adoption, though there haven’t been many doodles here so we got my pup from a sweet breeder (yes we visited their home to make sure it’s a good environment) and I would also love to learn from your side the best ways to help out my shelter!

Wow! Just watched your video! Unfortunately my grand daughters convinced me it was time to adopt another baby, since I lost my 2 mini-schnauzers (17 yrs old) last winter. Went to local shelter & there was this little black bundle of love! They said he was a Labradoodle. He’s 7 months old, I’ve had him for 1 & 1/2 months. You described him to a T! Omg, he has these outbursts I’ve never seen by a dog, where he runs all through the house, out to the yard, around the entire yard, back through the house jumping on every couch & chair, about 10 times! Then he lays down & rests! He slows down for NOTHING! He does this once in the day & then right before bed. We walk about 45 minutes a day. It’s like someone hit him up with meth or something! If I catch him eating a plant, carrying in a rock or stick or whatever & try to gently tell him no, he starts jumping & biting at my hands & shirt, etc. If I turn my back on him he begins to cry & will definitely do something he knows he shouldn’t do! Every time I tell him he can’t get on my lap, he climbs on top of my head! I reinforce his good behavior with a treat every time. But I’m loosing my mind! Help! We do have training classes scheduled starting next week!

I have had many dogs and while they have each been uniquely special in my life, I cannot imagine my life without my Goldendoodle, Kyra. She is, by far, the smartest and easiest to train, obedient and loving dog out all others. Grooming is super easy, due to her curls being more fleece like than the tighter curl of your handsome boy. I do agree with you on a few points though. Everyone loves to pet them, they like to be active, and they stick to you like velcro. However, these are the things that I like the most about my Kyra.

Excellent excellent video! There are sooo many people in the world who have animals... THAT DO NOT DESERVE TO HAVE THEM! Also a lot of people who think they’re a great owner, when they’re awful. People who live in tiny apartments that do not take their dogs out to play, to the dog park, who leave them in the house all day, can’t afford the vet, would rather party than come home and let their animals out, the list goes on. I personally love alone time, I wouldn’t want a dog in my face all the time. That’s just me, so I’m glad you posted this video. I want a dog who chills and doesn’t follow me all the time and does his own thing as well. I was thinking about getting a doodle, but I think I’ll take a look at another breed that’s less energetic and more chill. Thanks for sharing!

I just watched Wallace's premiere. And I had to watch this video again. I watched this video almost 2 years ago while we were in the search for our doc and we have the same problem that your mom had there were no rescue dogs for us some wanted us to already have a dog (well that didn't work We didn't have one .... that didn't seem really helpful in starting a dog family). After dozens of applications and miles and bizarre and strange rules I finally put my foot down inside we were going to find a new user. I have a child with ADHD And I needed a velcro dog. So I watched this video and pretty much found myself laughing all the way through because all of the reasons that most people might not want a doodle were exactly the reasons that I did.
Our puppy Haruki is now a year and 2 months old He is 50 lb 22 inches at the shoulder so he's a bit large for the breed but we love him so much!!!
Thank you for all the advice along the way. The reluctant but persistently competent dog mom.

I have a Golden Doodle that I refer to as my Angel dog, Jaxsen.
I've never had such a good dog. He loves to run especially along the ocean playing in the waves. I had trained a Malshi that Jax loved and as she did her tricks he learned just by watching.
The most awesome thing about Jax is his empathy toward other pets and us...I had never witnessed such thoughtfulness in a dog as he displays on a daily basis. People love him when they meet him and want to know where I got him. He is truly a blessing.
We also had a Labradoodle years ago when we lived by an elementary school. Rigby our Labradoodle loved kids so much she would escape the yard to play with the kids at lunchtime.
She got to be well known and loved by kids and teachers alike.
Not fair to judge a breed by one dog....Jax my Angel dog agrees...best dog ever!

I think that the most important thing to consider when adopting a dog is Time.
I inherited my doodle, Cal, from my son. Calvin was so bored. His chewing was out of control even resulting in property damage.
I never had a problem with Calvin chewing anything except his assigned toys. Not a single sock or even underwear.
I am disabled and not active. Calvin was content to lounge near me with only short walks and some off leash times with other dogs on occasion.
    Goldendoodles make great companions.
I would say that time and grooming costs would be the biggest concerns.

I absolutely love all your videos!! This one was a little interesting to watch for me. I have been around several golden and labradoodles they are by far the best ones with kids. Yes they do need alot of excersize but if your a busy outgoing family this really is a perfect dog. We have a labradoodle for out kid as a service dog and she truly is a gift to our family. Also I think dogs come with different personalities and that alone says alot. Also how people train them like any breed. Out labradoodle is the sweetest thing I have ever seen. I have also seen alot of out if control labs due to the lack of the owners not knowing how to train it properly. We were the first ones to pick out of a litter of labradoodles and ours I could tell her personality was very sweet and calm compared to the other ones and that demeanor of hers still holds true. I love that you rescue dogs but sometimes that can backfire on the owner as well as not knowing what your getting.

@@RachelFusaro it's been my experience that too many folks don't understand the challenges. Which means they get very frustrated with us groomers, we are not magicians. Groomers love all dogs, most of us wanted too many of our own, one reason for becoming a groomer. We love/ live to transform the look of people's pets. Yet one of our most difficult tasks is dealing with the uninformed. No one really loves to "shave" the doodle down to the skin! Nor do we really want to have to charge over a hundred dollars to groom the doodle. Reality is information is key: Love the doodle: love the cost: love the work, and please be informed before you get there.

So glad you did this video! I put up the exact same video on my channel but took it down due to a lot of negativity but the message needs to get out there to potential owners. As a groomer I was heartbroken to see how many owners didn't have the time to look after the coat so the dogs were uncomfortable, in pain, and full of mats, not to mention bored! x

I wanted to make this video bc I volunteer one dog rescues a lot, and the growing number of doodles is mind blowing
People buy them bc they’re cute and fluffy, but don’t want to maintain their coat or exercise them properly.
Honestly, of all the breeds I’ve worked with, doods are probably my fav or at least top 2! STELLAR dogs, I couldn’t imagine life with my dood. But they often (not always) require a few extra maitenance tips not needed by other dogs
Again thanks for the support! Awareness is key!

Well, it's a good thing you took it down. If you aren't smart enough to understand that these issues aren't with the dogs, but with their stupid, lazy, uninformed owners, then you shouldn't be putting up the video in the first place. You're doing a disservice to an amazing animal by shoving the stupidity of the owners onto the pets. If you want to help the dogs, educate the idiots that would watch your videos. They are the source of both the problem and the solution. The dogs are just being dogs.

@@georgianbents That's exactly what my video said, that the dogs need the right owner that is prepared to take care of their coat and manage their energy levels and the reason I did the video was my heartbreak & anger at seeing so many matted dogs in my grooming salon due to the owners having no time to brush them. Sadly people don't generally blame themselves but just as you have misjudged, think somehow I'm stating the issue is with the dog when actually I totally agree, the dog is just being a dog. You are preaching to the converted and ranting at the wrong people.

I know people talk about feeding dogs irresponsibly with poor quality food. What about irresponsible breeding (breeding every possible breed to a Standard Poodle)? It's awful.

  • @76katster
    @76katster Před 4 lety +1

A lot of great points!! Obviously all dogs are different especially within the breed of doodles because you have genetics and ratio golden/poodle that plays a big factor! My doodle looks and acts a lot like yours minus color- mine is charcoal. Looked black as a puppy ....surprise he turned out grey!! One thing you didn’t mention that goes with grooming is depending on the coat, these dogs can really trap smells. Their feet and beard can really become odorous! I definitely agree with them being attention magnets- if your in a bad mood do not go out in public with them because people are so intrigued with them!! My dog was easy to train but he isn’t the most loyal - or has add! We invested over 3,000 into positive only training with him and we still struggle with walking him on a leash - so yes they are smart dogs but not always eager to please!! Our dog likes to be around us but he doesn’t have to be touching us. He is very dog and kid friendly! He prefers kids to adults!! In fact when he is around a group of kids I really think he thinks he is one of them- he plays all the games right with them!! We got a doodle because of my sons allergies to animals- also because we felt they would be a good dog around children. If we took allergies out of the picture would I get another doodle? NO! I’ve had many breeds in my life time and I much prefer a purebred like a Labrador or a German Shepherd, I think with the over breeding of doodles at the end of the day it’s really a crapshoot what your gonna get. With a pure bred, even from a rescue you know their common traits. Btw, the best dog I’ve ever had was a lab rescue! I definitely would not spend the money I spent on our doodle ever again!! But that’s just me! I like simple and low maintenance, doodles are not that!!
