Wow this recipe made me feel like I'm a little girl again and I'm in my grandmother's kitchen learning from her. It's important to me to teach this to my daughters. My grandma was from Accra, Ghana but I always felt more connected to the continent of Africa than I have felt to the USA even though I am born here. Keeping tradition alive keeps me connected to my family and roots in Africa. Thank you for posting such beautiful cuisine.

They taste differently , Naija Jellof has a unique flavours, and senegalese jellof tastes like the Naija native rice with palm oil I 've eaten Senegalése jellof, it's has got veggies, meat yes with Broken rice like you did, but okra in it too but I prefer the one I grew Up With, the one that we all know. It's hard to pick one. I Will never answer that question either because Jellof rice is originally from Senegal, but Naija perfect it for their palate. Thank you for sharing sister 👍

Many people don't want to research the truth about jollof, it's senegambian and other Africans try to claim it!!!! We are the Queens of jollof and see no reason to join the madness of cooks trying to claim it as their own!!! we are the architect!! We are more than honored that the whole world wants to claim such a delectable dish!!! We do not respond to naysayers because the truth is there for everyone to see, anybody who wants to debate the truth needs no response from the Queens 😂...we are above any such trivialities....with that being said we rest our case...

It's thieboudienne when it's with fish. Thiebou yapp, Thiebou Guinar... The name changes based on what you cook it with. So they just call it Thieb also spelled Tchep by others.
Di + vowel makes j sound.
Ti + vowel makes a ch sound.
E is silent at the end.
      Ou is u
      So Thieboudienne is pronounced chebujen.

For everyone one asking where to get a pot like her’s, it looks like a Chinese sand pot. I think Japan and maybe Korea has something similar, but I don’t know their name for it. They’re made of clay, and you have to learn how to use and take care of them or they’ll crack. Only use them on open flame stove or in ovens. Soak before using, and there are probably other maintenance tips too. Remember not to wash them with soap/detergent or the clay will absorb the soap/detergent. Hope this helps❤
