  • The new svs pro series looks good on paper but where does it fall with the 3000 series close by? The 2000 pro series may be a bit underwhelming...

    I completely agree, I would love to see SVS make a flag ship sub that competes with PSA or JTR. I could not afford it at this point, but I’m sure it will be a big seller.

    SVS has high prices because of the customer service. If they were like any other sub companies prices would be a lot lower. Where else can you get this CS elsewhere?

    My SB-2000 has been terrific for the past 5 years; I'm not convinced they are "overpriced" as some have stated in the comments. However, my tastes have moved away from movies and toward music so I'll be looking at a servo controlled DIY sub in the future. Great video as always Kpaceguy!

    Very nice video, love the honest and clever advises like you did. Cheers from France mate ! (if a french people understand you, you can be sure you speak crystal clear) Btw we don't have much choice here in my country (beside american brands, we have a lot of fancy & expensive european brands and not so much perfs, so i got myself 2 x pb-3000 which are really nice but i keep thinking about these monsters from Rythmik Audio (FV15HP) i once heard during a US travel which was my #1 dream sub, and then there is PSA or HSU like you said. Too bad these brands already gave up on invading europe ! If you haven't tested out the Rythmik Audio im refering too, please do ! the experience will make your life complete !

    I have just received two SB-2000 Pros subs. I have only opened one of the boxes. I am disappointed with the thinness of the cabinet. Sounds very hollow and thin when I give it the knuckle test. I'm now thinking of exchanging for the SB-3000 which is a heavier double layer cabinet. Must check again with other companies as well. You are cute to watch! Thanks.

    I'm upgrading my Sony 7.1 theater in a box sub to the SB2000 pro. I tend to do more music listening than movies, and wonder how this new sub will compare to the REL T7i? Reading the specs simply didn't clarify the musicality knowing REL leads in this category, but I'm sure the upgrade will be significant.

    I honestly don’t think svs would be able to profit if they built a 18inch sub it would cost them too much and it would probably retail around $3500 and not many people would buy it since there are id companies that make great subs for cheaper

  • @Agent-fg9ol
    @Agent-fg9ol Před 4 lety +5

    When I saw the specs I was a little underwhelmed to be honest but then I figured, svs wouldn't have done this if it was a noticeable upgrade to the 2000 series. That's just an assumption on my part obviously but with the pedigree svs has I would be very surprised if the new 2000 pro series doesn't offer very noticeable improvements over the previous series. One area I absolutely love is the app integration allowing users the same control over thier subs as that of their higher range subs. I personally like the fact that they offer subs to fill almost every category of the marker but I do agree with you that they should try to match the other companies in terms of sheer monster subs. The pb16 ultra is over built in my opinion but there's no denying that of all the other subs, the sheer look of the pb16 ultra puts it in a different category all together at least in terms of the looks and build alone. I absolutely love the subs from the other manufacturers as well, especially the monolith thx15 and the Jtr's that youthman is currently auditioning. As it stands, I don't have a big space and I'm more than happy with my dual pc2000's. They don't even break a sweat and offer tons of bass and definitely more than I need.

      @Agent-fg9ol Před 3 lety +2

      @@MrBleujob I chose the PC 2000 because of space constraints and I also like the look of the cylinders. As far as the cloth is concerned, I haven't had any issues with the it getting dirty. As far as how they sound compared to the competition...I don't have the luxury of comparing various subs of comparable brands because I live in Barbados and our choices are limited, I had to import my subs and paid four times the US price for them. I chose the PC 2000 based on numerous reviews I've read regarding it and comparative subs from other brands. As for the performance..... I couldn't be happier with the performance, the extention in my room reaches down to 13hz at only 1.5 dB down from 20hz which is insane.

    Svs is a business (like any other business) that is trying to maximize revenue. Sometimes being the “best” isn’t always profitable (ask Oppo) they are trying to skate the balance of offering products that will appeal to audiophiles with a price point that the general public can afford/justify the cost. For their price point , they are the “best” subwoofer you can buy.

  • @peterotremba8980

    My big issue is the fact that they are raising the price of the subwoofer that is already expensive and making it more expensive. I'm struggling right with a decision between dual SVS SB 3000 or Rythmik F12's. I know for you Kpaceguy you're a ported sub guy, but for me sealed just fits my needs. Smallish space, music first, and really want to eliminate as much bass bloat as possible. Anyhow, SVS is really about impressive spec sheets. MUCH higher power, low extension, and to their credit plenty of frequency graphs. Rythmik on the other hand seems to be more about the servo technology and pushing their superior integration with speakers, analog PEQ filters, and marketing to the "audiophile community". SVS is a fairly local company to me and I want to support them, but I'm not convinced the biggest numbers are necessarily the best subs for me. I personally would love to see SVS do a servo design subwoofer, or passive radiators, or dual driver sealed box, or anything that would would bring some differences to their lineup. It's like small, medium, large or extra large ; sealed or ported. I like your videos and respect your opinions, but I am a bit confuse of your thoughts? IF the 2000 pros are close to performance with the 3000, why would I pay more for the 3000, when I could save the extra money and put that towards something else? Also that monolith dual 15 as cool and great that it is, it is also a niche market the majority of people will not have space or the funds to purchase that beast of a sub. I am sure that SVS or any company could come out with a huge, wild awesome sub, but it would probably cost more than your average consumer would be willing to spend, therefore your profit margin on that item is very small. The Sb2000 for SVs was their top-selling subwoofer out of the rest of their subs because of the price point. They offer their other lines to meet the larger rooms and larger budget consumers. There many reasons to choose a particular brand over another, Price, performance, looks, warranties, customer service. You are absolutely right when we have different brands it benefits us the consumers, choice is great!!! , But in reality, what brand makes the perfect or best subwoofer, each comes with its + and - it's up to us to decide which subwoofer works for us. Oh off-topic, I think your auto-focus was going crazy in this video

    • @Kpaceguy
      @Kpaceguy  Před 4 lety +2

      The power difference between the 2000 pro and 3000 series is a big jump from one peak power to another. The sb2000 was their most popular subwoofer ever so going off the past the sb2000 pro should sell just as well BUT you can spend 200 more dollars and get a sb3000 and gain 1000 watts of power. I don't see why someone wouldn't do that. So it puts the 2000 pro in a weird spot. You get a big bump in performance AND a BIGGER driver. So more output and better performance in larger rooms. For not much more money. It's too close to the 3000 series in capabilities. It can't do it at the same output level or room size as a 3000 can but it's more capable than the 1000 series. So it's a weird spot. So the video was just saying I wish the 2000 pro series didn't exist lol. I think it's time for them to try and bring us something we haven't seen from svs.

      @@Kpaceguy Yeah I see your point, but I think they wanted all of their subs to work with their app, and they couldn't do that with software. I agree if you were just getting 1 sub to get the 3000, but getting 2 is an extra $300, it might not seem like a lot but everybody got a budget(unfortunately, lol) I guess my point is for some people the bigger driver is not needed in their space and paying more is not worth it, I would rather spend that money on going to separates or getting a better receiver. In Svs mind, they probably just dont know if it is worth it to get that wow factor and get dual 18-inch woofers or something like that to have that wow factor as I said before its such a niche market and the profit margin would be too low to justify. Anyway tick for tack, they should have just gotten rid of the 1000 and 2000 line and just offer the new 2000pro and up, I just wish they would have kept that metal grill, or at least gave you an option to get the metal grill but I do appreciate your opinion and video keep up the great work!! Checkout Audioholic review on the SVS 3000 series. The 2000 Pro doesn't even compare to the 3000s series. 3000s have the performance of a 15in driver for the cost and size. Based on testing the 3000s perform like the 4000s within the 30-40Hz range, but 4000s wins below 18Hz and who really listens that loud? Not to mention the 3000s have 14in driver coming in at 13 7/8 with rounding it's 14in. SVS rounded down for some odd reason 🤷‍♂️. If people are looking at the 2000 Pro just spend few more bucks on the 3000s. With that being said do not bypass the 3000s, because it has middle child syndrome.

    Define better? Sound and bass is a very personal taste. Is somebody's truck inferior to anothers super car because its not as fast? Or is the super car inferior because it can't go off road?
    People buy for diffrent reasons and purposes, room size, bass extension, tight bass ect. Sound is subjective, if someone likes the svs subs over other brands, because they like the output, sound characteristics and is of the size they want, they are not buying an inferior product are they. The inferior product to them would be the sub they didn't like as much. They have bought the best of what matters to them.
