My mover he did baby grand moved by him self, he strap himself to the piano when he bring Down the piano out to his low step truck

Yes, a piano board is absolutely necessary to move a grand piano. If you don't use a piano board, you will damage the piano. The board is used to help move and protect the piano

My friend (250 lbs, 5’8”?) and I (150 lbs, 5’1”) need to move an old?, out of tune baby grand piano. I know I have bed sheets and comforters, an upright dolly/hand truck, straps, and bungee cords. He has access to an open trailer (like for a hayride.).
What advice do you have so the piano won’t be in worse shape after we get it to the final location (my house.) from his mom’s (RIP) previous residence?
I'm really sorry, but what you have isn't going to protect it from damage. You need the skill and expertise that only comes with years of training. I wish you the best of luck, but unless you know exactly what you're doing you can easily damage a piano. It's much harder than it looks to move a piano.
Hi, thank you for sharing your videos! When you are moving a 9' grand that has two side rails on the long side, do you typically remove these before lowering the piano onto the piano board/skid, or are the side rails left on for the move? Thank you.
This is a wonderful question, thank you for asking. When it comes to those two rails, we do not remove them. However, you must be very careful. If you are worried about damage, the rails can be removed easily and reinstalled when you set the piano up. I hope this helps!
Does the piano action need to be removed?
Hello! For general moving and storage, the action does not need to be removed. That being said, sometimes the more difficult moves may require removal of the action. We will make a video explaining some hypothetical times the action might need to be removed. Thanks for watching!
