Compressing VX1000 Footage for Instagram

- Here is how I personally compress my VX1000 clips for Instagram. This method is ideal if you are still using Final Cut Pro 7 and/or if you export your clips out of your editing software as a full res QuickTime movie. Feel free to hit me up if you have any further questions or any VX/filming questions in general. Mad love!
I suggest watching this in full screen in order to be able to clearly see the settings.
Yes, I know that the Mac software I am running is outdated, I keep the older version of the software intentionally in order to continue to use Final Cut Pro 7.

if deinterlaced properly, resizing to 960x720 will give you a 720p50 option on youtube

Dropbox is a good alternative to emailing clips to yourself. Export directly to Dropbox on the computer > open Dropbox on your phone > Export > Save Video to device. You may get a "this may not be savable to your device, proceed?" warning, but it should work no problem. Works for iOS, not sure about Android. Quality comes out great.
i’ve started using airdrop recently to send photos and videos from my macbook to my phone recently; no need to limit the data rate and you can get clips on your phone in seconds. works prefectly. still use mpeg streamclip tho to convert to h.264
what does h.264 mean I'm new to filming vx
Be aware that if you edit clips in iMovie on your phone you lose quality from the original footage.
You can also use google drive to save to your iphone btw

hey man I love this workflow but I realized if I update my mac firmware MPEG stream clip won’t work- is there any way around this?
Curious if there is a way to get FCP7 or a newer iMac? I was told before you’d have to go back and download old software that was never even available on a newer version before. I used to have FCP7 on my old MacBook Pro but unfortunately can’t get it to work on there any longer due to problems with the laptop itself.

Wow, I am stupid. Didn't see that you posted your insta. Anyway, I used this method and it won't post to instagram unless I import from creative cloud (which then makes use of the screen zoom setting in insta. How exactly do you get your clips onto yor insta timeline? I used all the proper settings.
I tried downloading this for my Mac but I have Catalina installed and its not working because its a 32-bit program. I tried getting the updated version but that didn't work either. any alternatives maybe? thanks!

@@provinceskateboards5006 i figured it out, i was running MAC OS CATALINA, that software on my mac wasnt working so i downgraded back down to "mojave" and it worked perfectly

Hi, we have a better solution for VX footage, a platform that supports NTSC/PAL interlaced footage.
Then, if you have NTSC footage, edit and export on NTSC, then upload it directly on skatehype.com has full support and goes 60fps automatically for all devices.
You have to be a registered member but, no data tracking or ads on this platform, just skateboarding.

Is it the same for youtube?
You can use this method for quick CZcams uploads, but it won't give you the best CZcams video image quality. I would only suggest this method for Instagram videos.
