I was sweating until the very end when he said REMEMBER - DO NOT CONSIDER THE MEMBERS YOU DON'T CUT. Jeff, you solved about 10 years of me hating this method with that statement. I've always screwed that up and over-complicated my problems.
This is huge. I was so confused why he ignored EG in the sum of Y forces eq.
it was the same with me
@@SuperPenguinpenguin I made the calculation later for EG, and it's equal to zero. But if there's zero reaction, why even have a member there? What's the point of having a structural member with zero force? Why not just remove it then?
@@martinAbC for loads -- ie a bridge needs to handle movement of cars, wind, etc. it's just that the current forces don't make use of the member, but it would have purpose in another situation
Hey Jeff, i wanna take this moment to thank you for teaching me statics. I didn’t know what’s going on in my statics class until my friend recommended me to watch your videos. Here I am at 4Am watching them for my final which is at 7AM. Whatever grade I get, it’s because of you, sir!!! Merci pour toutes 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
mood
@@FinchyTV Hope you did well.
GRADE? what did you score?
Mood
Your watching his video at 4am when your exam is in 3 hours? Don't put whatever grade you got on him 😂 that's not fair
I'm just joking, but seriously not sleeping and cramming is not a good idea
Your videos are SO helpful! I'm a high school teacher who hasn't taken a statics class since 2009, and when I started getting ready to add an engineering endorsement to my teaching certificate, I realized how much stuff I had forgotten! I wish you had been on CZcams back when I was in engineering school!
I never understand anything in class buy you are always my last hope and you never disappoint. Thank you for clearing all my confusions sir
Hey Jeff, great videos! Really clear and personally, they l have helped me out a lot. So thank you!
You have a small mistake at the end of the video Calculating HE (should be 3.54 or(2.5/sin(45)= 2.5*2/√2) not 3.34) this means that DE is an even 12 not 11.86)
Hope this is helpful. Keep up the good work.
noticed that too! :)
Thanks for this. Thought my working out was wrong.
I was saying the same thing!!!!! Your right!
thanks for the clear up :)
very true
I am seriously so thankful to you Mr.Hanson, my static teacher is probably the worst teacher I've encountered and teaches everything hard for no reason. Times like these where I wish good teachers like you would be more common
Old man Hanson, great sir, you are my saving grace for this semester. I wish you and your family a good life. Hope you're doing great
Thank for the kind words. I need all the blessings I can get! Hanson
thanks my friend, I take your greetings and bubble wrap it in my soul.sincerely, Dr. H
thanks so much for your contagious enthusiasm and for continually making my life easier with your memory tools and excellent teaching skills, definitely going to be the only reason I pass this class. :)
who else has statics exam this morning
Ohh no we're studying in advance 😊
Legends can understand this only😅😅
had mine on tuesday, absolute slaughter 😭
Studying for the FE rn and this has been very helpful as a refresher. Thank you.
I literally love you. I'm an architecture student and we have required structure classes that are kicking my BUTT. thank you for these videos they make my life so much easier !!!
honestly, you are such a wonderful teacher, I am very glad I found your channel and I hope you have a wonderful life!
Professor Hanson, thank for explaining Trusses and The Method of Sections with a massive example. The step by step process is very helpful for solving Trusses.
when my lectures made me feel dumb your videos make me feel smarter all am saying is great job jeff really appreciate this
thank you so much! this video helped me through my assignment. very concise and straight to the point while understanding!
Your explanations are very easy to understand, thank you so much!❤❤
Hey Jeff,
I have learned so much from watching your videos. I wish my professors were half as good you.
HEY JEFF, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, IT WAS VERY VERY HELPFUL I UNDERSTAND EVEN BETTER NOW
This is a blast to watch, thank you!
Jeff thank you very much for these videos. My professor is great, but he tends to teach a much theoretical style and doesn't go into the "plug 'n chug" as he says. You're a great supplement and I wouldn't be doing as good if not for you.
I cannot begin to thank you!!! you might not read these but seriously, without a professor like you, I wouldn't be able to pass this class!! thank you!! truly.
Amazing video! Really helping me with my Aerospace degree! Couldn't Understand MoS without your help!
Thanks so much!!!
HE is 3.54kips compression - small error
hey, sir jeff! thanks for making this kind of educational video. really helped a lot for me to understand my Theory of Structures subj. God bless!! CONTINUE MAKING VIDEOS!!!
This was so helpful!! Thanks
Great explanation, thanks!
Thank you jeff you explain statics really well thanks!
thank you so much! I was so confused on how to sort out whether or not the members were in tension or compression, but this cleared it all up!
Thank you for the help! I am using your videos to study for the Architect Registration Exam. Very helpful!
I just started methods off sections and this video summed 6subchapters very well. Thank you so much
best professors i've had in college so far? Hanson and Leonard.
you are such an amazing lecture. this was really helpful
Love this guys attitude!
Once again Sir, you are great! Thank you so much!
The notes for cutting sections helped so much.

So glad I finally found your lessons Jeff, thanks.
Thank you so much for these videos. I'm not kidding when I say that watching these last two have taught me more than my statics teacher has in 3 months.

Really nice explanation before my statics final exam. Greetings from Mexico
Reviewing for my FE exam and this video helped a ton!! thank you!
you're a life saver thank you so much
Great video and explanation
Man this helped a lot
Thanks teach, it helped a lot.😊
Best teacher ever.
thank you so much Sir..
Incredible explanations thank you very much! The way you labeled what would typically be joint “C” as being joint “D” kind of bothered me lol, but regardless you’re the man!
You just saved my life
THANK YOU ❤
pop quiz tomorrow, this is what i needed
You are amazing!
So easy thank you Jef
YOU ARE FREAKING AWESOME ALWAYS FUN TO LEARN FROM YOU.
Sir , As we cut the truss into two frames and use the moment equation to solve further , how do we decide ,about which joint it would be more convenient to take the moment about? for example in the above Q we took moment about E!, In other problems including big trusses this point is confusing !!
Thankyou so much!
Jeff, I got confused when you were solving for DE. It looks like force DE and 3.34*cos45 should have the same direction. so I am thinking the Fx force summation is 0=9.5-3.34*cos45-DE. Can anyone clarify this for me and much appreciated.
Thank you Jeff. Great videos. Calculation at the end should be HE=3.54 kip (C) and DE=12 Kip (T). You do have it set up correctly. Again thank you for the great videos.
very useful!
I was blanking on an assignment due tonight and this video saved me
Thank you for your videos. Hope I pass my exams.😊
amazing thank u
Thank you very much 🙏🙏
