When I saw The Great Gatsby in the spoiler warnings list, I was desperate to see how in the world that fit in. I was not disappointed.

I honestly thought there was a point and click game that I didn't know about based off the book

Something I have discovered as a programmer is that the user NEVER does what you expect them to. Its as if they go out of their way just to spite you.
But of course, actively trying to break a program is one of the best parts of being a user.
The way I handle that is to assume that I'm designing a program for Eric Cartman. If you show him how to use it, he'll do the opposite. F**k your authoritah.
Code with the worst possible user in mind and you should be able to avoid at least some of the problems you would otherwise encounter.

That's exactly the reason why you have someone test it though, isn't it?
I have people test it and I try to think of every weird option they could do yet they still manage to surprise. Even with a text adventure game they manage to do crazy things!
One of my uni professors said that always test with a toddler, if it survives then it probably good enough for actual users.
Me and my friends play a "suicide game" with GTA. We take it in turns and have 2 minutes to produce the most entertaining death. Each round, there's a judge to rate deaths. Points go to best death and deducted if you fail to die within the time limit. You guys should do it with OXbox and have James as the judge
My brothers and I fly helicopters in GTA down a certain street, jump out, and grade each other of distance, "grace", number of things hit, and how awesome the death was. Negative points for living.

We pretty much just took turns trying to survive dropping from the top of Mount Chilead in various vehicles. Vehicle damage/character health was the metric for how well you did.
Skyrim's death rag doll physics (including those of opponents or the player itself) is hilarious at times.
Case and point: Playing a wanted khajit form markath, gets beheaded by my first encounter with a bounty hunter.
Talk about WASTED and Geeeeeeettttttt dunked on!

The best ragdoll death I've ever seen in GTA was a guy driving into a lamp post, flying through the windshiled, doing a sommersault with his back crashing into a wall, while the lamp post flies after him and like a stamp crashes him into the wall.

Actually, as much bonkers fun as the injury side quests in SR games are, I think Trials has them both beat in terms of the sheer addictive quality of dieing over and over in creative ways. Especially when you can make your own custom track and engineer those ways to be deliberately more hilarious.
never played a single gta game but enjoyed the heck out of Saints Row 3 and 4. Gotta love me this character creation and the over the top sillyness. ;)
also SR4 = best superhero simulator ever! It's even a better Deadpool game than the actual Deadpool game
I started those kinds of games with GTA3. GTA was more fun when it didn't take itself too seriously. Since GTA4 it's this uncomfortable mixture of extremely juvenile and weirdly serious. I just don't find it compelling any more. GTA:SA was the best one by far. However all through the series the mission design was still frought with problems; you only put up with it because it got you to the next awesome cutscene.
Then a penpal at the time told me to try SR2 and it was wonderful, just like they'd taken all the silliness of GTA and thought "hey, let's just go all out in this direction huh". Lovely. Customization in that game still has GTA's ass beat several times over.
I'd heard that SR3 was a disappointment so I didn't get it, but I'd heard SR4 was a blast so eventually, I got that one. It certainly was! Was a bit jarring leaping into some sudden new characters I hadn't had the introductions to, but that's my fault for skipping a game I guess. And yeah, awesome superhero simulator! At first I was a bit worried that it made stuff like cars pointless, but... they went with it enough that it made stuff like cars being pointless not matter. Cars are just like fun little accessories now!
Still a bit baffled as to why they took out the gender slider between SR2 and SR4, and made it a plain binary selection instead. Odd choice. Wonder if it's a reflection on how the world is right now. Lot of people on board with limiting things like that. Doesn't hugely matter of course but still an odd thing to ask a programmer to go in and deliberately remove from something you already built.

Skate 3 (and all the games in the series) has some great ragdoll physics, so much so that there's an entire game mode basically built upon it.

It's not a game over screen thing. They read the plot twist of the book in a small skit during the video so they put up spoiler warnings for it.

Sonic had an interesting Game Over in the 90s games that activated if you wait around doing nothing for too long. In it, Sonic taps his foot impatiently for a minute, stares at you as if to say "let's get a move on", and eventually just leaves.
Also, I feel like the WASTED sequence in GTA V was cut a little too short. I preferred the length of the slow-mo noir death bit in GTA IV more so.
