- Here is a short video for how to replace the cabin air filter for the 2018 and newer Toyota Camry.
Special thanks to JackTannehillPromoter for helping me understand that the "UP" arrow on the cabin air filter cover and on the housing do not mean air flow in this car. You can check out his channel at: / @njsongwriter
You can buy this filter at Walmart:

Can you believe a mechanic just tried charging me $120 for this
Same!!
Air filters, battery replacements, wiper blades etc can be done at home. No need to pay a mechanic.
I got the paper in my hand from the dealer mechanic, it was gonna cost me 78.42💀
Saved me about $50 in 5 minutes thank you sir
Shop wanted to charge me 70 bucks....didn't realize it was so simple. Thank you!
Toyota wanted $90. Thanks for your money saving post.
Correction: the service would have been $80, not $90.
great explanation dude. didn’t miss a single detail
This is the best video for changing the cabin filter!!!! So easy with your clear instructions.
I watched a lot of videos about changing cabin air filters and I was struggling about how to know the airflow. This one has the best explanation about airflow and overall how to put the filter. Thank you.
Thanks for syncing your audio and video instructions. You made it so simple, yet very helpful.
Thank you for the clear directions. Just did mine today. I do like being able to do these things myself. I even do my headlight lamps which my husband can’t believe I know how to do. Thankfully, they are easy (for me with smaller hands) to get to.
Thank you so much for posting this!!! So clear and easy to understand!
Thanks for your video. I really understand everything. but sometimes some people post a video we can’t even understand them. Thank you again 💪🏿💪🏻
Just did this on my ‘14 Camry and it worked perfect!! Paid 14 bucks for the filter and the rest was easy, thank you!!
Awesome video sir. I just replaced my sister’s car with Fram CV12157. Thanks to your video, now I know I already put it in the wrong direction as I thought the housing’s arrow was air flow. Now I have to change it again. :)
My car is in for service now they called and wanted to charge me 50 bucks to change that filter. lol
i work at a boat repair shop and know the mark up on parts.
$9.98 at Amazon. and with this video I'm sure i can do this. thanks for posting
Good job and good explanation of difference between an up arrow and air flow direction.
Thumbs up.
Best video I've seen on this process 🙌🏿, had mine done in minutes
Thanks friend. My wife is happy now. :) And you know what they say about a happy wife. The new filter has only been sitting around for 8 months since the place forgot it in the front seat.
Love the way you explained everything. I wish other people doing videos would do it like you. Im about to go do it now, thanks!!
Perfect timing. I just now opened the cover and housing, and discovered a rodent nest. I don't drive it much in the winter. I will replace the filter tomorrow, and remember to check it more often.
Mine was developing a smell. It was really dirty and needed to be changed.
Thank you so much! I definitely needed to change mine. It was easy to follow your instructions. 💚😁
Thank you for posting this. Anybody saying they saved money doing it by themselves, changing the engine air filter is just as simple if not simpler, so do that yourself too. There are plenty of online videos like this one about how to do the engine air filter.
Thank you! Very Informative and helpful video.
Saved me 80$ 🎉 thank you!!!
Thank you for posting this video! You made it very easy! You have saved me money. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks for sharing…video was precise and to the point!!
GREAT Instructional Video-Thank you!
Thank you so much, this was very cool to learn!
Thank you so much for your video! I didn’t have to wait for my husband to do it or take my car in.
So simple. Thank you!
Thank you for Sharing. Explained Very Well 🙏🏾
Thank you very much. I bought the same filter and the arrows confused me. Awesome vid.
Me too. I have to change it now. :))
Pretty simple and saved $25 Thank you!
Thanks bro, really helpful
thanks man very helpful!
Excellent video. Thank you 🙏. 👍🙂
Thank you so much. I saved a lot of money. ❤❤❤
Thanks bro that was easy as pie
Thank you soooo much saved me 60$
This was so helpful. I replaced my filter in less than a minute after watching this video.
You saved me $80!
Thank you
Nice to see it done right. Actually, every car that has a horizontally mounted cabin air filter with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have the air flow going downward.
For my 2020 Camry. The air is coming from the bottom going up. So the filter indicates that arrow down means filter facing down(airflow is coming from). I also use a piece of paper & turn the ac on without the filter. Paper moves upwards.
Thanks man I'm trying to remove glove box for filter 😂😂😅
Thanks
I realized the airflow I'll always be down so the dirt and other contaminants don't fall when the air is off.
Thanks for info. On the cabin air filter, I suggest using needle nose pliers to squeeze the inner tabs on the right side to release. Then simply pull plastic to the right, so that it releases from the left side hinges.
Today replaced air filter on my 2020 Toyota Camry , no problem . Then replaced the cabin air filter and regarding the first cover . I could not get the rifght side tabs to hold into the notch , And one tab broke off , I think a very poor design . Cheap plastic tabs when squeezed in again anfd again are going to break and loose there " springyness " . This was a new cover as the one in car also had one tab that had broken off . Also , where I am it is freezing weather , not good for plastics . You also need a lot of light to see clearly . I guess to buy another one and use a headlamp when inserting it . I have been smelling other vehicles exhaust when driving . Don't know if , their catalyltic converter needs replacing or ? I has a purolator charcoal filter installed and repllacing the same one . Since it's winter time and exhaust stays close to the ground . I thought a charcoal one would block out exhaust smell .
Lol dealership tried charging me $70 for this? 😂 when to autozone bought a $20 filter and did it myself
Toyota wants to charge all this money when it’s about as simple as it can get with these cars
You didn’t properly explain the release mechanism for the housing mines won’t come off I’m pulling it hard
I can't tell if my filter is in straight (how do you know?!) and the front clip won't clip back in... I'm losing my mind lol
manual says it should point up
What damage can be done to the Camry by installing the filter in the wrong air flow direction? How severe would the damage be?
The filters are designed structurally to have air going in one direction. Putting the filter in backwards just increases the possibility that the filter comes apart from the suction. Which can possibly get stuck in the blower motor. We’re talking extremely minimal chance of that happening considering the housing also has structure to keep the filter contained for the most part. Dont think I’ve ever heard of catastrophic filter failure leading to blower motor failure but I’m sure its happened once somewhere.
The biggest damage happens when you reinstall a used cabin filter after cleaning it.
Well, why not just do it right and then it doesn't matter for sure. However, they claim the filter will last longer before getting clogged if it's done correctly.
@@njsongwriter The filter that I purchased has an arrow on it, but it doesn't say what the arrow represents
@@landshass2849 Oh. Can you explain why please? I just cleaned my cabin air filter with vacuum as I just replaced it 5000 miles ago.
Why did you put the dirty side down by the fan?
That’s the activated carbon side
$200+ at the dealership LOL
I'm sorry, but this is not exactly true. I purchased this filter for my 2019 Toyota Camry LE and it doesn't fit. It's much bigger than the one in my car.😡
Toyota wanted $72 for a two minute job. I paid $13.90 via Amazon. I feel bad for the people who pay these bastards. Total rip-off. Thanks Brother.
Screw the customer at all costs!
Went for service 2 days ago, dealership recommended me replace the filter for $77.+ .
Push in here pull like that??? Push where????
lol hahahah engine and cabin filters are simple changes. I take the recommendation checklist from them and research how to do all the stuff, then do it myself. Filter cost $ 15-20. Labor $0. Vs the dealer $175 +
Thank you. You Tube is my friend ..excellent explanation thanks
