I love your Dad puns it differently put a smile on your face
In the mid '60s (maybe 10/12yr old) we got our John Deere tractor out of winter storage. My Dad told me to put 70psi in the front tires. I followed his instructions to the letter:) I checked the current tire pressure, added 70psi, well it didn't rupture but, needless to say it was as learning moment I never forgot.
So sorry to hear of your major "hail out". We had one back in '73 or '74 when we were wheat farming my grandfather's farm south of Malta, MT after he went home to heaven in '71. I will never forget seeing the clouds coming across the prairie from the west. My Dad was concerned as he pointed out the greenish gray cloud tops and warned of hail. We were staying with my grandma in town (16 miles to the north)...as we headed to Malta...it began to rain and then hail. It was SO loud in the truck cab we couldn't easily talk. That night Dad sat on the edge of the bed and told us..."we might be wiped out...The Lord gives and the Lord takes away...blessed be the name of the Lord." We lost about a third of our wheat...the other 2/3rds averaged almost 50 (which usually averaged 30). Indeed the Lord had given AND taken away! One way or another He will do the same for you!
Thats a really interesting story👌🏻 i hope welker farms can tell the same story after harvest!!!
We always hope but are realistic. Been through this before and either you allow trust to reign or discouragement will.
@@RobertWelkerFarmerBob We are all thinking of you Bob and remaining hopeful.

i heard of a guy who forgot he had a tractor tire inflating, he suddenly remembered it before it went boom and went to disconnect the hose from the tire. as he got close it exploded and broke the rim and sent a piece of the rim flying, into his head. he had a fractured skull but survived. so don't leave it inflating unattended unless you have a regulator set to the pressure you want so it can't go over.
This was always winter shop work. Replace hoses, chains, belts, pulleys, etc. Just before harvest, all we did was check fluids, remove any mice nests we find, make sure tires are full, no water in fuel, etc. Then off to the races.
Summer time was always play time. After spraying was done, we got a few weeks to finally relax before harvest.
And I'll pretend I didn't see a filter wrench while installing filters. ;)
Good luck with harvest this year. I'll be watching on pins and needles.
Man that oil really put on a show for us in that pan. Great video. Can't wait until harvest!
Your old man is the greatest. The inflation joke absolutely killed me😂😂😂. Then the “im not going to get bent out of shape about this one” Hahahah love it guys👍👍
My father has always said, if you’re a farmer you need to have a sense of humor
Gotta love Grandpa Welker's "Dad jokes"...he's raised a splendid family and is still working hard. A good man.
Nick - take a picture of the old routing of belt with your phone - reference for putting on the new one - a time saver.
Blowing up a tire by accident. Obviously leggarms needs to supervise you closer Nick!!! LOL
the dad jokes never get old
One of things I like about this channel is that it's family friendly and there's no stupid sexual innuendo that's found on other popular farming channels. Keep up the great work!
Yes I have noticed that and I think I’ve said something quietly. I appreciate The education with the other channel but not the other stuff.
I set up a pressure regulator with a whip hose and a clip on connector for the valve stem. I could leave it for as long as I wanted. It saved a lot of time.
My heart goes out to the Welkers. Looking towards better times ahead though.
Try taking a photo of your v-belt routing with your cell phone before you pull it for replacement. "Memory enhancement" at its best.
he did, he had the video footage 😂
Anyone else’s wheat ready and just sitting around waiting for the rain to stop
Your dad is like my 97 year old dad, always has those quick comments that make you chuckle. Thanks for sharing.
Always appreciate the creativity that allows you guys to do your task more efficiently. The wisdom and creativity of people in the agricultural business is impressive.
I wish belts went on as easy as throwing them on the pulley that gave me a good laugh. Thanks for the great videos Welker family hope to meet you guys one day I farm in southern Idaho maybe catch you at a AG show someday!
Oh my gosh!!! I absolutely love your dad’s sense of humor!!
Thank you for the video. "Hate" when you blow up a tire. (been there done that) Hope the family and you are doing well. Take care - be safe. You are in my thoughts and prayers - for rain and a good crop this year.
Nice to hear Bob's puns are on the straight and narrow :D
Sunglasses aren't just for fashion. The more you protect your eyes from sunshine (UV) they more you will see when your hair turns gray. Summer and winter!
I never wore hats or sunglasses till college. Now I can't walk outside without them, amazing how much they help!

Loved this vid! So interesting!!! The shots of the old oil bouncing around was stellar! You’re so creative Nick...
I truly love you my brothers continue to be bless with. All of you Keep mom and dad healthy and keep those babies and wives healthy
I am so heartbroken for yall and how hard of a year yall have had this year. I pray yall have a bountiful year next year.
Best thing we can do is support him with a CZcams and this prayer. Prayer is amazing thing with God. I am a living miracle myself November 2 ATV accident
Praise for the miracle 👍
@@RobertWelkerFarmerBob I was almost killed the same day Nicole got sick. ATV rollover highway and almost ran over by a semi. Yes God answers prayers. Look forward to seeing what happens with you all. God bless and prayers always
@@RobertWelkerFarmerBob Actually the ATV I rolled on a blacktop going 30+ miles an hour and then my neighbor who was working from home that day that stopped 18 wheelers one curve on a hill. Prayers are answered not always the way we think. I had a vacation time much-needed two weeks in the hospital. Three hours of memory lossNovember 2 same day Nicole got sick. We serve an awesome God.
Thanks for the good laugh at the belt change. It would be nice to just throw it at the pulley hahahaha. The Millennial finger snap might work to.
Love your dad's sense of humor. Whe my dad was on this earth we called his funny sayings Vern-isms. Miss that man.
That boost pac you have is literally the best boost pac ever. We have had ours for 15 years it still works
Awesome job servicing the combines . Those things sure have a lot of moving parts . Love the channel .
Nice work creating the special tool to get parts changed on the combine. Thanks for the videos guys. God Bless!
This is welcome to see. I worked for a farmer here in southern Illinois that waited until the day of bean harvest to change the blades on the sickle bar. The head was sitting in the barn for 10 months but instead of looking ahead, wait until the day of! I can't stand procrastinating!
😂 Bobs inflation joke was on point!
could have been a bit deflating
Your dad is king of the one- liners 💯 !!! Hope all you farmers have a productive season. Take care and see you next time
Thank you!
I have alway said the design engineers need to be put out on the tool to see the problems they create. I remember many many years ago I was looking at plans for ductwork and when I saw it I had to advised the engineers that what they had proposed would not work. Great solution Nick. 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Good to see all the equipment getting ready for action. Sorry to hear about the hail. Welker Farms will survive and adapt! Take care and God bless!
Yearly oil changes sound like a dream. The commercial fishing boat I worked on was every 5 to 12 days during the summer and monthly in the winter, while my summer car gets done once a month or before and after day of racing
You do a great job of making changing oil look interesting. Thanks!
Good statement about the inflation on the tire! Praying for you and your families every night!
My pops taught me early on to use a bit of spray paint to mark the pulleys, red if the belt goes inside, blue if the belt goes outside. Works like a charm.
Cool stuff. I like the slow mo of the oil splashing around that look cool.
This is always the kids favourite time of year harvester or seeding
Considering the amount of work the engines in those combines do, I think I would have switched to full synthetic oil. I also would have filled the oil filters with new oil before installing them. The engine runs without oil pressure for the least amount of time when starting them up after an oil change(the filters are already full)….all the best to your upcoming harvest.
Sorry to hear about the hail to your crops. Thanks for taking us along on the maintenance of the combines. God all the farms. Thank you for your hard work to feed us.
Love the tire inflation, thanks for the lol!
We had the same issue of over-inflating tires and blowing them. We added digital pressure gauge ends to our air lines which we fill tires with. We can dial in the pressure, lock it on the tire and it will inflate until it reaches that pressure. It was a great investment.
I haven't made a combine ready for harvest since 1965 but I see it is still a lot of work.
love your family !! you feed the country's needs appreciate your hard work
Y'all's had a hard year up there with the drought and hail.. mother nature has really tested all of us this year!!
This year is flying by. Just remember watching spring planting not that long ago. Now harvest prep. Hopefully you guys get a decent crop however you are not the only farmer that is struggling there are a few that I follow are having similar issues.
playing musical equipment is always fun...move everything around because the ones you need is always in the back lol
Still praying for rain for you and all those that are suffering. God Bless you too!
Hey guys thanks for the great video and information 👍. I wish you guys had some of the rain we have got here in South Central Ky, in the last 5 days we have had a little more than 5 and a half inches and we are expecting more. Take care guys 👍
Sorry to hear it’s been a drought there and a bad year for crops in your area but I am glad to see u guys are still happy and cracking jokes ! God Bless and thanks for the videos
Sorry to hear about the hail damage I seen leg arms post about it terrible buddy hopefully insurance will help and you guys don’t lose money praying for the rest of the crops god bless everyone
Pray for the crops you still have and for many many more better years to come! ❤
Thanks for another great video. As always your video was interesting with lots of good information. Big job moving equipment around and getting combines out for harvest season. Lots of work and inspection items on a combine getting it ready for harvest. Big machines with lots of moving parts. Interesting all the different parts and belts you have to look at and replace if needed. Good maintenance makes the machines last longer and you do a great job of keeping your equipment up to date. Your headers are huge. I think Bob said they were 40 or 45 ft-wow. Lots of maintenance there also. Like your oil exchange system. Very nice. I know you are extremely concerned with the lack of rain and now some crops had hail. I hope you can salvage as much as you can with the combines. Am sure you will run headers as close to ground as possible to get what crop there is. Makes for a hard harvest. I have had to do that myself and is really hard on equipment. I do think of the Welker family a lot with what the weather has done to your crops. I trust they will be enough to help you get by for the season. Prayers for all of you and trusting in god to watch over all of you. Sending a pat on the head for Colby. You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to next video. God’s trust to all. Thanks. The Iowa farm boy from years ago.
You guys are an awesome family. Thankfully, the Lord has blessed us with a few rain storms in southern New Mexico. We have a severe drought crisis and reservoirs are at record lows. We’re severely restricted on irrigation water. We are top producers in pecans and chile and grow onions, lettuce and cabbage. Water table has dropped and Wells are going dry. We may be the pecan firewood capital of the US. I guess we can plant solar panels on farms since we have 350 days of sunshine.
Sad about the tire but at least it wasn’t full of antifreeze. You know the famous saying, “s*** happen” and it sucks when it does.
Thanks for the video.
Ready!
Set!
...
Thanks a lot for the video! 😊👍🏻
Loving the dad jokes through out. The mid west definitely farms different than the mountains of the northeast
Your oil system is very clean /handy !! Stay safe this fall !
That used oil gives me a nice warm feeling :)
Bob you don’t have to cut the guards you can just position the knife so the gap between the sickles where the guards are then it is easy to take the guards of and change the sickles 🇨🇦🇩🇰
Once again, bob’s jokes are comedy gold! Hopefully you guys can get through this ok, when our last drought started here in Western Australia about 9-10 years ago it was a bit like this... hopefully this is a one-off and it’s a rainy one next year
I would love to see how you guys manage to plan out and accomplish the thousands and thousands of big and little maintenance acts needed to keep the entire operation moving AND to avoid duplication of efforts.
Really good to see that Bob is grinding out all those amazing puns! Must be a sign of something tho leading into the new episode of how the harvest grinds on? Stay Safe! -Bob...
Be sure to open the door all the way ,thanks for the videos !
Missing Scott and his family and hope they're doing well and will be able to return to the farm soon for harvest.
What did I miss? Is everyone okay???
@@zedhead2864 Yes everyone is okay Scotts father in law died with cancer so he is at the funeral in California.
@@giannidifrancesco193 Thanks. So sorry to hear.
That back oil filter is always a tight bugger to get off!
Milwaukee sells sockets with square ends fyi. Gives you the option to twist them with a wrench. Also keeps them from rolling away.
Thanx pop welker, for the inflation/tire joke, "dat's a knee slapper" !! Keep 'em coming !
We all do dumb stuff....your a good and humble man to share that with the world. Would have been easy to edit it out.
Hopefully you’ll get some rain soon so your crops will return soon money you you all. We are a little way off harvest yet but hopefully we will see some good weather soon. Rob from the 🇬🇧🚜
With your pea bushes being soo small and close to the ground this year I think you would greatly benefit from adding a wind/air bar system to your combine head - similar to what Larson Farms run. I believe they use a Crary Air Bar System.
Awesome looking shuttles Nick
I hope you have a good harvest. Hopefully what you do have will be good enough after the visit from the white combine.
Always good to watch your guys channel
I'm in your area of the country now and it's terrible dry. Here's hoping it doesn't wreck your year to bad. Praying for rain for you and the whole west.
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always, God Bless!!!!
Hope the farm got some rain from the cloud that come by Sunday afternoon. Thanks for the great video.
Did but wiped out a third or more of crops
Dad Welker is one hard working boss🙂👍 He deserves a vacation 😊👍
Canadian case ih combine technician here. You did that shoe belt perfectly. No special tools for the rotor, we just usually do rub bars when we have the rotor out of the machine. Also peice of advice, cut the most forward 2 rub bars off. All they are is un needed cone wear.
Thanks much👍
Nick, with a little bambino on the way during harvest, you need the crops to hop in the bins for you 😜😜
Look at the bright side about the blown up tire Nick now you know it is flat no move worrying about it lol.
Suggestion. Use a regulator that you put before the air chuck. Can set and walk away and work on other stuff and you don't have to worry. Blowing a tire like that is stuff that I have so much trouble with. Never blown a tire but I get distracted a little too easy. 5 hour energy is my friend.
Well you had a spare tire ,now you have to hope no more flats.🤣🤣😉.the quick fillers for the oil sure work well .take care 👍👍😊✌
lol lol love your Dads humor !
Good video I really enjoy this type of video because it shows if you maintain your equipment it will run like a top. God bless see you on the next video
We've been harvesting dryland wheat here in Eastern Oregon. Pretty low numbers, but some years that is what is it. We didn't much rain this year.
Hello from France. Great video. Good preparation of the material. 👍
That so sucks with the crops hailing out....everytime I see the big black cloud here with this heat I cross my fingers it's just heavy rain.
I take pictures of things it really helps when you forget
The slowmo of the oil bouncing around was deff cool

For walk-away tire filling, put quick connect fittings on an air tool in-line pressure regulator with a gauge. Deadhead against empty female quick connector, set desired pressure on guage, plug in locking fill hose and walk away.
Places like Home Depot etc usually carry the regulators, they are often used on nail guns and staplers to control depth without having to turn the air compressor down.
Edit: just like the one on the oil barrel transfer rig!
Saves a lot of time, tires, and sore backs lol
Nick, the hats grown on me. Looks good.
So I watched the ads on the channel instead of clicking the skip just to try and help you guys know it's not much but we appreciate the work you do and after the drought conditions you have had and the hail storm that did a lot of damage it's the least I can do.
Thank you 👍
I grew up on a farm in North Dakota in the last 50 's throw the mid 70 's one of our combines had
an belts that was 6 or 8 sized what fun to replacing it was
! ? !
Praying for you. Love you all! God Bless 🙏🙏🙏❤🇺🇸
That combine tire blow out reminds me of years ago in a tire shop in town they were working on a skidder tire and they are a heavy thick strong tire. The person working on it forgot the air chuck was still on it when lunch time came as its a large tire and takes time to inflate it. Well sometime during the lunch break the tire blew up and thankfully no one was in the shop as the force of the air release blew out all the windows and destroyed the overhead doors, they had to "shut their doors" for a while there to repair the building.
Thank you for feeding us all, god bless.
