The Mummy managed to equally entertain, thrill, scare and amaze me all at the same time as a kid. They got away with so much. I agree with you on the characters 100%, spot on, one of the strongest points. They don’t make em like that anymore. The movie’s got everything for everybody, man, just so much of that old-school adventure romance spirit. Forever in my heart. Thank you for revisiting and letting us revisit it with you.
The Mummy is the closest thing we’ve gotten to the Indiana Jones Trilogy. You honestly could swap out Brendan Fraser’s character and add in Indy and it’s spot on.
This is my favorite movie, ever. It has literally everything you need for the perfect action/adventure/horror movie. The cast is phenomenal and they perform like one fantastic machine. Their chemistry feels like it was put together by the worlds top scientists in a lab. The set pieces alone made me go from loving acting, to loving movie magic overall. When you guys dropped the National Treasure vs The Mummy I was hoping to see you guys give it a deep dive and you didn’t disappoint with this absolute banger of an episode. 🤞 Hopefully, Universal will see the lasting love of this classic and return to the franchise for a fourth to tie everything back together.
The Mummy is fantastic. Watched this film on repeat when I was a kid.
I was 9 when I saw it in theaters. I laughed, I was scared at points, and loved the action. 25 years later The Mummy still holds up. I can't wait to watch with my son when he is old enough
Somewhere in the Mummyverse: “GOD DAMN BUNCH OF MUMMIES!” as Rick Dalton flamethrows Imhotep
I was born in 96 this came out in 99 so I wanna say I saw this way too early. This scared the shit out of me. I hadn’t watched it since then but watching it as an adult it actually still holds up
As much as I do enjoy a lot of Indiana Jones 4 & 5, "The Mummy" (1999) feels closer to the spirt of the original three Indy movies than the later legacy sequels. At least in the tone and breakneck pacing aspect. Brendon Frasier's Rick O'Connell really was the Indiana Jones of the late 1990's and early 2000's. Even if second and third sequels were not great, Brendon Frasier was terrific in them. I'd be down for a fourth movie, but it would have to have a good script and be better than the last two sequels. Also, Rachel Weisz would have to return as well. Happy 25th anniversary!
I personally cannot put on The Mummy 1999 without following it up with The Mummy Returns.
I love this movie and the sequel. Saw them as a kid and they kicked off a lifelong love of ancient Egyptian history and mythology for me.
Awesome episode guys! I remember when my sister took me to see this movie on my birthday back when it was still in theaters in 1999 and I was scared and amazed at this movie. This was as a kid of the '90s the closest we got to a fourth Indiana Jones movie before they actually made Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008.
One of my favourite childhood movies. The VHS was on repeat😂
I had some issues and complaints when I first started watching you guys, but I’ve fallen in love with your dynamics and senses of humor, my complaints were petty! Re-subscribed!
Lemme guess, spring cleaning? 🪑
Mummy is a fun film, wish we got more adventure films like the mummy now a days.
Why does the curse give Imhotep powers?
Evey was also the person who put the world in danger by reading the book in the first place 🤷♂️

The mummy is awesome! Is it better than LOTR? 🤔
crock.
