Do your research - Despite everything you here in the press unfairly singling out Range Rover thefts (don't get me wrong, they are indeed one of the many manufacturers using the same inadequate security technology), do you realise that they are NOT BY A LONG WAY the most stolen car in Britain?
Please do your research before spreading unfairly targeted and consequentially misleading information. I will give you a head start for your research though - it is a Ford.

Our daughter and son in law’s insurance doubled this month. They drive a 15 year old Renault capture, have had no claims etc…but it jumped from £300 to £600 on their policy. Are we being fleeced for these bloody expensive EV cars, because the insurance companies are trying to spread the exorbitant claims for these or is it the government who are trying to price everyone off the bloody road?

Why does car insurance rise every year when your car depreciates every year if you buy a new car and it's stolen the same day it's very often valued way below the showroom price just because its now classed as second hand the insurance companies appear to be fraudulent I think we want a Mr bates and the post office type program on insurance companies

    • @malp78
      @malp78 Před 3 měsíci +3

I'm sure that the Insurance Companies will argue that their renewal quotes automatically take account of your car's annual depreciation. (This of course is BS as they will charge as much as they think they can get away with). I'm sure that they would further argue BS that without this automatic mechanism your renewal quote would be even higher.

    Not just BCA!!!
My car was damaged on Wednesday 31st Jan and recovered to a temporary storage yard, and later that day, the insurance company told me that it was beyond economical repair and sent instructions what to do with the V5 document.
I wasn't able to find the V5 until the weekend, but when I tried to fill-in the necessary 'Change Of Ownership' section, I wasn't able to - because someone else had already done it!
Then I tried to transfer my private reg plate, and found that they had done that too!
Not only that - DVLA accused me of fraud and sent me loads of paperwork to try and prove everything.
I later found out that the car was collected by an auction company the day after the car was damaged, and sold at auction the following day!
How did they manage that when I still had the only copy of the V5???

I’m pretty sure I can tell you exactly what’s going on with the car auctions. Firstly there’s so many Range Rovers being stolen isn’t it one every 2 minutes.
    The scumbags need legal plates.
If they copy local plates you may see them. You may be contacted quickly over parking toll or ulez. You’d inform the police there’s a cloned plate on a car same has yours. But if a scrote took reg details from an auction. Previous owners will say I sold it. ( so police won’t think there’s anything wrong) new owners will blame previous owners. They both blame the auction agent. And all the time it wasn’t even that car. By the time it’s all been worked out. The car has either gone to Eastern Europe or been stripped for parts.
And they’ll just go to the auction and pick a new reg. Free driving they’ll steal your car and khan will try to make you pay these scumbags fines. Because he knows the thieves certainly won’t.

Just renewed mine on the 29tn of Feb. Went up by 57% to just over £700 for the year. I did a LOT of shopping about and that was the cheapest that fitted my needs… I’m 43 in a few days, maximum NCD’d, no claims (ever) live in the Cotswolds where there is hardly any crime (only about 500 in the village) I’ve tried hard to work the justification for that much of an increase considering I’ve got an extra years driving experience and another year I’ve not claimed for so much as a windscreen but I’m struggling to add it up.

My Mitsubishi Pajero was 1,100 gbp to insure in the UK through one of the motoring organisations. When I took it to Spain in 2007, I got a quote from a Gibraltar based insurer for €450 , then got a call from ‘Linea Directa’, (Direct Line) in Spain and got fully comprehensive coverage for €330. The UK insurance industry is just another example of rip off Britain.

It’s about time people realised that insurance companies in the uk rip you off year on year. They use what ever reason 5hey can to put the insurance up. Take a look back in time, first it was some cars you can use any key to get in them, then it was an immobilise was needed, then key fob, then the area of the country, then post codes, the vehicle type, and then a persons age, now keyless or Ev.
Each time the insurance has gone up in the uk, but funny enough not with the same insurance companies subsidies in Europe their insurance has stayed the same. It’s only in the uk that the insurance has gone up. Why because the insurance company are basically a rule to themselves and do as they like in the uk when it comes to price.
Some years ago a German mep did an experiment with to male drivers who passed their test on the same day, same age, one lives in Germany the other in the uk. So the male in Germany goes into a Mercedes dealership an buys a vehicle uses an insurance company that is available in the uk. He drives out with the new car on the day. The British male goes to a Mercedes dealership in the uk, can buy the vehicle same model as the one in Germany, but cannot get any insurance what so ever.
When the insurance company was questioned by the mep they didn’t have an answer. The mep stated that insurance in the uk was a con on price and victimised people in a number of ways.
Why can’t insurance be on the vehicle and not on a person to drive the vehicle? Other countries have vehicle insurance on the vehicle only. So why can’t the uk?
The other issue is the uk is an island so the only way to get a vehicle out of the uk is via a port, by ferry or shipping containers, why are these not policed better to stop stolen vehicles leaving the uk. As it has been going on for a good 50 years, yet nothing has been done to cut down stolen vehicles leaving the uk. If insurance companies wanted the costs to come down for policy’s etc.. then they would work with the police to make it next to impossible to get a vehicle out of the uk.
The other issue is that insurance companies are to quick to write off a vehicle over a simple repair which would be much cheaper than writing off the vehicle. They should also stop using manufacturers main parts on all repairs when repairing a vehicle, as these parts are available from other places at half to third of the main dealer price.
An when a person has a crash or vehicle stolen it should be them that pays a higher premium on the next vehicle, not every one else. After all it’s not the fault of everyone else that a person crashed in to another or someone didn’t secure their vehicle correctly so it got stolen. Yet everyone is paying the price for that.
Insurance should be a fixed price, in line with the cost of the vehicle. Not like it is now which is a big con.

Why isn’t the government looking into the cost of insurance? I had two quotes from Aviva for the same car - a Citroen C5x. One was from Aviva UK and the other from Aviva France. I had recently moved back to the UK, but had lived in France for 20 years.
In the UK with full NCB applied, the quote was £765.00
The Aviva quote from my insurance broker inFrance which included Europe wide breakdown and homestart was €465.
The insurance broker in the UK stated that they are currently refusing to insure Tesla’s and Range Rovers.

Andy I had to give up a car I owned many years ago due to suddenly being out of work through I'll health (OK now) but after the car was put on a low lowder and taken away and the paperwork sent off I thought no more about it. Six months later I got a speeding fine and quite a heafty one at that plus 6 points on my licence. If it wasn't for the fact that at the same time of my so called speeding I was also on a speed awareness course in my home on my computer I would have found it very difficult to prove that it wasn't me. The driver who was at fault was fined and from what I gather was lucky that he didn't get a custodial sentence but he was sacked. DVLA sorted everything out thankfully😊 this happened many years ago and I've had a clean licence for many many years now 😀 the last car I got rid of a few months ago now I gave the paperwork to the company that bought my car plus filled out the transfer form online the same day and recently received notification from the DVLA of vehicle not mine anymore slip of paper. This time all ended well with the day I got rid of my car I was sent a bus pass😊what great timing. Great programme as always Andy. Ps. Passed my driving test first time in 1984 at 30 years of age and now at nearly 70 years of age I leave the driving to the bus or someone els to do😅no more prospective fines to worry about 😅😊

I would like to point out that it's the registered keeper's responsibility to inform the DVLA that they are no longer the registered keeper of the vehicle ( remember the registered keeper is not necessarily the owner but is liable for tax insurance and fines etc) You are to immediately inform DVLA as soon as you sell or hand back a vehicle on finance. This can be done online with DVLA and although it can take up to 4 days to update the register the time and date are logged instantly
If anything happens in-between the update period you are not not responsible from the actual time and date the change was notified to DVLA. So, get it done before the car leaves your driveway or property, preferably before you hand over the keys.
