Fab episode, keep them coming!
Really appreciate the folks from the school being OK with you walking around. Especially since they invited you back. EVERYONE should make sure to thank those responsible. A lot of places are understandably camera-averse.
They were incredible, and the fact that at least one of them are huge KR fans who actually work there because of the show, was the icing on the cake. College of the Canyons is a wonderful establishment, as is the Advanced Technology Center: atc.canyons.edu
100% agree. Just allowing a member of the public to just wander round was surprising enough, let alone actually engaging and assisting #TopWork
Its the accent 😂
@@rick-deckard You aren't wrong.
Being a massive Knight Rider fan but living in the UK I rely on you and the K.R Historians for this stuff which I could never do. Thank you for the nostalgia.
Wow, so many goose bump moments there. especially the double door outline still on the wall where you faded out the 80s footage leaving the outline visible, and the roller shutter coming down with the big 5 still on it. Amazing work here Peri.
Thank you! It was amazing fun to make this, as you can imagine
That happened to me too when I saw those scenes! Great job!
Why am I crying?!😭 Man, that was fabulous, the reveal of the door with the big 5 on it totally broke me! 😂A joyous video. Thank you Peri!
That's lovely to hear, as when I'm editing these I only know how it makes _me_ feel. It's true joy when that translates to the new viewer of this as well. 🙏
yep, that was nice
I was emotional as well. The 80s were an INCREDIBLE time to be a child
Tears in my eyes, Peri. Thanks for these memories. Really makes me want to binge watch Knight Rider. Haven’t watched since it aired when I was a teen.
I think what gets me about videos like this is that so many of my personal places from my childhood are gone. My school torn down, my video game arcade turned into someone's law office, shops where I bought my D&D stuff and plastic model kits replaced nail salons and pawn shops. It's nice to see something endure, even if it is in a changed form.
I feel exactly the same way. Well said!
Peri, this is a masterpiece of entertainment. More thrilling and more fun than a lot of triple a movies these days. Hats off for your passion!
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹
That was amazing. I really appreciate you going back to the original film location so we can all rehash nostalgia. Thank you for taking the time to out this together along with all of the other episodes with finding the location for The Duel and Knight Rider. Those were the best days and you’re bringing them back to life again for us all.
I'm a grown man, i'm watching " seeing the light section".... tears... jesus, what an impact this show really had on our lives.
It's incredible what can come back to us when pulling the past back into the present through the sands of time...
14:05 when that music kicks in it gives me goose bumps, amazing work and damn was that trip nostalgic
what is the music from?

"WOW" Perifractic: you have dusted out the cobwebs and ignited wonderful memories from a loved past history of mine. Watching your exploring of KIT's filming history gives
me goosebumps and feelings of how lucky I have been growing up and being a family in the 1980s. Thank you.
Thank you! I sometimes can't believe I was alive in the 80s, yet alone conscious and alert enough to experience it all. It feels like a magical time that shouldn't be allowed to be visited, yet here we are today...
Just an FYI - KITT has TWO T's, for Knight Industries Two Thousand.
7:06 "Well I guess that makes me a Knight Rider Historian"... We see what you did there.... And we appreciate the shout out!!!! 😉 Of course, fantastic video, as always, Peri!!!!
Thank you guys so much for your kind words and for leading the way in keeping the Knight Rider flame I mean scanner alive
It's such a good episode! I can think of any other show that would have something like a sentient car overcome psychological trauma.
You know now that things have settled in after watching this about an hour ago, I must say this is legendary documentary film making that hits the deepest parts of the heart and soul.
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹
Hello, I am writing these lines as a child who grew up with Kitt in the 1980s, thank you very much, I am forty-five years old now and I pray to have a copy of Kitt one day 🙏🏻
The way you reworked the Knight Rider intro is nothing short of epic!
Wow thank you!
It always gives me goosebumps when you find old filming locations from Knight Rider or movies like Duel etc.! Great moments and memories! 👍
Junkyard Dogs really shook me as a kid... The thought of KITT... dead... It was just so much for a little kid.
Seeing him be rebuilt wasn't just a neat scene for me... It was _needed!_ KITT _had to live_ again!
Incredible finding. I love how you're putting all those memories together and blend them with today's reality.
Thanks for sharing that pure moment of nostalgia with us.
Well that was absolutely riveting! I'm loving these videos, so much fun!
So glad you liked it, and thank you for supporting the channel and making this possible!
I'm not crying. You're crying! ❤ You definitely tapped into an emotion in us that loved this show!
Man i so loved this and that music was perfect and i can not wait to see the next part of this. As always keep up the amazing work and have a great weekend, so until then take care 🙂🙂
So glad you liked it! Have a good one!
This is a great video, I love being able to look at "then and now" videos of movie and TV filming locations , thank you to the staff and others at the location for letting us in to have a look and film 👍
I can say that in this episode I was disoriented quite a lot about direction and positions... until you brought it all together in the end. This really illustrated the situation well and I felt I went on the rollercoaster with you. Great Job. BTW: I kind of remember this episode, but even as a kid I thought some of the "repairs" were hokey...anyway, it's all about telling a great story and having fun. Cheers!
So glad the illustrations and edits worked! It's always hard to judge how much a new viewer will get of what I'm showing so I tried to strike a good balance without over-explaining.
@@RetroRecipes I think you had a huge challenge because of the remodeling done, but it was luck that you ran into someone that knew the history and helped you sort out the mystery! Even though it's a bit of trivia, those details and research made this episode complete and it wrapped up beautifully in the end!
Amazing nostalgia. This was one of my favorite episodes when I was a kid as well. It aired February 3 of 1985, exactly 39 years ago. Season three Episode 14 junk yard dog. Thanks so much!
Fantastic film editing and compilation! Fun video.
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹
Wow! I’m stunned, I can’t believe the lengths you went to in order to find this location, the footage you got, and the amount of work that went into putting this video together. I am blown away! Thanks for doing this!!
What an absolutely epic and well crafted video - the walk around and fades into episode footage with the Knight Rider 2000 theme tune gave me goosebumps!
After years of watching CZcams, this is the first time I've ever sent a Super Thanks--I had to set it up and everything. This was my favorite/heartbreaking episode of Knight Rider from my childhood. Thank you for putting in all the work and dedication to finding this piece of my childhood.
This is Emmy award winning journalism that we didn’t know we needed.
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹
the production for these videos are amazing buddy, thankyou so much for taking the time for this .
We were so lucky to be kids when Knight Rider was on tv & these videos are the kind of stuff youtube was made for, thank you for making such great nostalgic entertainment
And for such discoveries, great Knight Rider archeologist Indiana Fractic, I thank you very much and waiting eagerly for even more future discoveries of the past of our childhood.
Being a huge Knight Rider fan and a former student there, i am blown away. I used to walk down that exact hallway several times a week. Very cool video, and great detective work. thanks!
Oh wow, and you had no idea? I can certainly understand why.
Absolutely fantastic.. "seeing the light".. i teared up😢😊
Wow, masterful editing and exploration. Got goosebumps during that hall sequence! Thank you for your efforts! What a blast! 😉
Youve made my day.. Thanks for the tour..Wish I had time to reminiscing this part of the 80s.. It was so cooooolll. Way bettet than now.. Keep them coming and maybe one day we will cross Paths
Absolutely mind-blowing nostalgia
I owned a Kitt for a few years it was a dream
I do love that dog, he's a sweetie.
What an amazing trip down memory lane. How wonderful the feeling must have been when you found this location. I rewatch Knight Rider (every episode) at least once a year. Here's to hoping we get a new movie/TV show based on it in the future.
I'm not even a Knight Rider fan (though maybe I'll become one) but I love how much you love what you love. I totally get it and appreciate you sharing it.
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹
I love these Knight rider episodes they make me feel so nostalgic awesome content 😁
Seeing that number 5 on the door was WILD! Thanks so much for sharing this with us. So many bloopers kn this episode but my favourite was always the fact that you could spot primer KITT early, in the background of the shop when they were still focusing on acid KITT. One last thing, the echoing audio from the show in the corridor etc... goosebumps! 10/10 production dude
Wow that was fantastic and bringing those scenes back to life with still shots, music and original dialogue was perfect.
Loved it.
As a child of the 70s/80s and a current Valencia resident, I found this episode fascinating! Great work!
You should go visit :)
@@RetroRecipes Good point. I think I will!👍
As a fellow Brit who also owns a Firebird Kit body style and who has met David a couple of times I think I see a trip in my future to just drive some of the roads you call home and I call my childhood memories. Great video.
It's a wonderful feeling! Recommended. Very cool that you've met David. What was he like?
@@RetroRecipes Great guy, down to earth and gives fans lots of time. From watching Knightrider as a kid to meeting him first time he did not disappoint either the child in me or the adult that could not believe I was in the company of my child hood action Tv hero. I Enjoy your show, I have toooooo much 80’s tech but enjoy keeping it going. Good luck in 2024.
Peri
That extra prop that you're talking about is the self-destruct " countdown mechanism" from the miniseries V. They had to insert two "keys" for it to activate. Wow as a young boy I'm not sure who I had a bigger crush on Patricia McPherson ,( Bonnie) or Jane Badler (Dinna ) from V. Tuff call.
Extraordinary video. Great detective work. Man the Knight Rider historians are going to love you!!!!!
This is great fun! I really appreciate your dilligence and enthusiasm.
What a gem of a clip, super video effects and investigation.
Perifractic, you are my ultimate tour guide to the wonder years.
Oh my thank you for taking us on this journey I got shivers down my spine and shout out to the woman that came out the bathroom what an absolute legend ❤
really, these vids always get me in the feels. Growing up in germany I have seen episodes of the cult 80s shows like Knight Rider, Airwolf, Miami Vice, Riptide (I loved the nerd hacker in that show :) ) only sporadically, so while i loved them I never got that attached since I never really was able to watch it regularly in order, though I remember them very very fondly. But you really manage to draw me in with your clear love for the show.
When you finally realized where the rooms are you had me grinning with relief and even getting a bit teary eyed. Can't wait for the next episode and kudos for the people from the school for allowing you back with even more access, really cool.
Wow, I felt the adventure of exploring room by room to find the exact location according to the film.
I feel very curious and also feel satisfied.
This is one of my favorite ЯR recipodes! Wow, you've outdone yourselves Peri and team!
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹
Junkyard Dog is my favorite episode!!!!
OMG what a fun ride! Thanks for taking us along!
This gives me all kinds of feels, makes me long for the old days when i would be ripping up and down my grandmother's street on my Knight Rider Big Wheel 😂
Very cool of those folks to let you explore. Nice job Peri.
Peri - the detective we need, but don't deserve.
🙏
This bought back memories of watching this episode on a Thursday night at 730pm on Thames TV (peri will be able to relate this). This episode bought a lump to my throat back in the day, and as you say the music on the episode was extra good (one of the tunes sounding a bit like axel f which came out shortly afterwards). Thanks for the hard work perifactic
Crazy the numbers are still on those doors.
I've never been a huge fan of the show, but I do love a good filming location hunt! Great video, Sir! :) And many thanks to folks at the school to let you film! :)
We will look back on these years of Retro Recipes fondly as the Knight Rider years, but I really would love to see your channel go deep on another topic sometime.
I have Air Wolf and Street Hawk content planned, however ultimately I have to do what inspires me the most first, and that will always be a personal choice. As such it's impossible for me to please everyone with every topic; thanks for your understanding. Make sure you've checked out all the vids though as I bet there are some topics you missed that you might prefer :)
Thank you for giving us a glimpse of the past Knight Rider locations, this was one episode I couldn't watch without crying when I was a kid, Knight Rider was a huge part of my childhood as I have seen KITT in person. I still have my Knight Rider poster on my wall. Thanks to those people at the school for letting you walk around the building. Can't wait for part 2 of this video.
This is the coolest way to relive one’s childhood….thx for the vid, man!
I did a massive smile when the '5' revealed itself!
Imagine my smile! :D
Peri that was a fantastic video, awesome that the place still exists, i remember watching this episode as a kid and i balled my eyes out when kitt ended up in the pit, the knight rider 2000 music when you match the photos was amazing. Keep up the good work
Mega video Perifractic. It looks like I clicked on the link anyway.
All to see Knight Rider-based Retro Fun. Seeing that room full of Apple II computers may explain the Apple Soft KITT integration that took place in a later episode.
I look forward to more Revelations from you and the Knight Rider Historians.
KITTesla is still going strong I see.
wow! amazing video! very emotional seeing the places!! the voices of them "showing" the past that you put with delay... just, just beautiful the editon of the video!! congratulations! ❤
Thank you for your comment
Great detective work, love the bits where you lined up the old photos with the current location.
much respect to the college for facilitating this.
The elation as the floor plan falls into place !
Very emotional! I can only imagine how much it was for you on site! Hello from Italy
14:00 the swapover to Knight Rider 2000 music, nice touch 15:56 10base5 thicknet ethernet cabling.
The echos of the past are a nice touch and solidify the fact those iconic scenes in Junk Yard Dog were filmed there so many years ago. The most touching effect was placing the image of Micheal peering through the lector room doors into bay 3. Fortunately for us the alterations to the building have been minor. Hopefully they allow the building to remain as close to its filming condition as possible. It is awesome that one of the teachers is aware of the role the facility played in 1980s television history.
I could watch these kinds of videos for days, your exploring is just amazing. And I did not expect these buildings and doors to still be there 40 years later, absolutely brilliant.
🙌
I still remember that feeling of loss that I felt while watching that episode. Heartbroken doesn't even begin to describe it!
This is amazing! Great job finding this historic location! One of my favorite episodes. This location was host some of the most memorable moments of the entire series
Wow, you are amazing... your perserverance paid off... cool to see the old photos/clips overlaid onto what is there today. :)
That was brilliant, fantastic find and excellent editing. Was so good of the school to allow you to wander. I was 8 years old when this came to the UK and I never would have dreamt it would hold such interest all these years later. Rewatched the entire series again recently and still love it.
As always, i love your work. Special mention to the editing and sound mixing, bloody excellent. Kudos.
Next kitesla upgrade: those cheeky little green led lights on the the gas pedal! :)
Understandably Junkyard Dog is a favourite episode of many, back in the day I didn't always record Knight Rider, but I definitely recorded Junkyard Dog on VHS and I just about wore that tape out. Takes me back to a happier place in time. In retrospect as an adult in a world with the internet and backups my number one question now is "why isn't KITT just regularly backed up" so that if anything like this happens, you just build another one, but obviously that takes away all the drama! Fabulous seeing these locations and even cooler that they know there's a history there. Look forward to seeing the continuation!
Very interesting. These kind of episodes will be a nice time tracker showing how the world changes, but that some of the past is still with us if you look.
I love these reflective episodes you do. This was a fun one.
Great video. This reminds me of all good times in our childhood and our beloved losts in life..
Thanks 🙏🏼
Love it! Of course I have to watch Junkyard Dog again now.. .. & relive my giddy childhood crush on Bonnie 😍
Thanks for bringing us along & really looking forward to the next one 😉
Dude, you're ridiculous and I LOVE it!!
Thank you for your channel!
Great video, thank you for exploring this fantastic place
The car chassis display that Michael leans on is a very strong memory for me. I was hoping it would show up somewhere.
I've been hunting for it. Word is it isn't on the new campus the automotive dept moved to.
Thank you for posting this up! I was in Retro Trance again! Cany belive the number 5 shutter was still there as it was!
Detective work the likes of which could have been an episode/script from the actual show! Well done that man!
Awesome filming location tour, looking forward to that next episode from this location :)
Junk Yard Dog was indeed very memorable episode, KITT getting destroyed in that acid pit, what a shocking thing to see as a kid.
That’s great you were able to get such wonderful footage! I believe these locations were also used in other episodes too, specifically Knights of the Fast Lane
Just stumbled across your channel. What an awesome video. So well put together! Loved it. The music is fantastic 👍🏻
Great video. The moment bay number 5 door coming down... Wow. And nice editing combining present, past and voices.
Thank You My friend in retro for doing all that leg work. Great as ever!
I attended the welding courses at C.O.C.
Brings back memories.
And memories of that episode of Knight Rider.
WOW........I MEAN....WOW
That's awesome, well done Perifractic 🎉
