Looking forward to the all-important actual AI KITT. I wonder how much stuff in the car you could legally have AI KITT control (probably all the infotainment stuff, etc., just nothing involving actually driving the car). Though I wonder if you could get around that with TeslaKITT by having AI KITT issue instructions to the Tesla features.
Maybe buy a second one, and turn it into KARR? (I know… LF would not approve. So, scratch that.)
Hi - Mr Fractic - this was fantastic... Yes yes... i'm a (reminder) You said last year that you will make other (similar era videos? Like perhaps visiting the Airwolf sites?) And whilst you at it: seeing as many of us will never be able to have out own KITTs, please make follow up videos in the future. I do not know if the "KIDD" in many of us will ever die. (Boys and Girls - as much as they want to deny it...)
On the root route thing, remember the American song about a certain road.
Route 66 ;-)
Well if I where you I'd have done acomplete tear down and rebuild of the car's wiring and etc
"I'm not a carshow kinda guy". I think it's illegal in all states and the rest of the world to own such a beautiful car and NOT take it to carshows. Stunning piece of work KITT is steadily becoming!
That's fair.
lol well I live in Iowa, n been to Many car shows with my KARR replica I built. n it kinda SUCKS that u walk away, Empty handed n no trophy cuz of , favoritism and bias. people voting 4 friends n neighbors. instead of cars. or participants voting 4 each other n car clubs as well. it's a SCAM. n just disappointing not 2 get a fair shot. when u Know u earned it. so I cam agree with him there. the shows should ALL be Spectator voting ONLY. then it would be fair. However when I'm out driving him , getting fuel. or at a show, all the people wanting pics or videos. makes it worth it. lol I went Southern Knights of Atlanta last month. n met Hasselhoff's former wife actress Catherine Hickland. and Toni Hudson. who was Dirk Benedict 's wife. he was Face in A Team and Starbuck in 78 Battlestar Galactica as well as Michael Scheffe. who designed the front bumper n dash. n AJ Palmgran from Knight Rider Historians. n got my car signed by them. n that's WAY better than any trophies.
Don't worry, he will be a car show guy soon enough, they will be inviting him along :)
@@poesraven1985can we see your KARR replica somewhere?
Replicar kitt delorean etc still made
I'm nearly 50 now but the 8 year old boy that is still part of me cannot find the words to fully express what this car still means to me, along with many other things from my 80s childhood that are long gone now. Also the memory of my father who is no longer with me. Thanks for pulling on the emotional heartstrings in such a positive way.
Thank you for sharing that
I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see that you brought him back to life. Well done you!
I found myself smiling so much whilst watching this. Well done Christian. It's so good to see the transformation since you first took ownership of it.
It's now looking like a proper Kitt. I look further to seeing yours and Kitt's further adventures.
This KITT series is turning epic. It was almost a wreck when you received it and look how it is now... It's amazing!
I can't wait to see what you will do next, thanks for you passion and dedication Mr. Fractic :)
The pleasure is all mine to share with the community... well mine and KITT's.
he does remember KITT is supposed to have a built in phone right? KITT Told Micheal If u had asked I would have told u the car has a built in phone
I wanted to take a moment to wish you the best of luck and extend my heartfelt congratulations on owning a Knight Rider KITT car! It's truly a remarkable achievement and a testament to your passion for retro recipes and nostalgia. I remember watching Knight Rider back in the day, and the iconic KITT car was always a highlight of the show. Owning such a legendary piece of Hollywood history must be an incredible experience. I have been following your journey and your enthusiasm and love for what you do shine through in each episode. Your dedication to authenticity and the quality of your content is evident, and it's no surprise that your channel has gained such a loyal and supportive following. Once again, congratulations on your ownership of the Knight Rider KITT Car. May it bring you joy, inspiration, and many memorable adventures.
Wishing you continued success and happiness in all your endeavors.
Thank you so much!!! I worked very hard for decades to get to this point but I also know how lucky I am 🙏
Do u remember in KnightRider 4000 KITT was in Micheals Old Classic Chevy but Micheal Later takes KIFT Out of the Red Car and places KITT into the Red Car and Maddock says U DIDNT KITT replies Im afraid he did Mr.Maddock and I must say this new body fits me like a glove
If KITT would be self aware, he would be proud of you with all those repairs and time invested!
Thank you!
I know it's not a 100% excuse but I think that besides maybe the last owner not having the budget to get this job done properly, it was the environment in which he probably had to work in.
The UK as you know is a cramped and wet cold difficult awkward place to live unless you are a multimillionaire.
I hope they see what happened to the car and they are happy about it returning home
As a kid born in the 70’s and spending tea times on Saturdays in the 80’s watching Knight Rider I think what you’ve done is ace!!! Love it!!!!!
Great work! Speaking as an auto mechanic, one thing you may want to do long term, would be to replace those "wire twists" as you called them ( up here in Canuckistan we call them Marrettes) with crimp-style butt-connectors like the ring terminals you used on your power wire. You can even get ones with integral heat-shrink insulation. Wire nuts are mostly for stationary applications and buldings and in a vehicle are guaranteed to come loose.
Yeah that's a good idea!
@@RetroRecipes Even easier, replace them with wago connectors. They should work fine on 12V systems, and they have the added advantage of being easily removable.
wire nuts are also illegal in marine applications for obvious reasons.
@@stevesetherwago is just better to install and easier. very nice stuff.
Amazing advice - I’m an engineer in a different field, great at wiring electronics but I always get one of my vehicle engineering buddies to do the work on a car. But advice like this is invaluable!
Start thinking about getting the truck next!
Joe at Knight Rider Historians has that in his driveway
@@itsmephil2255 And I know where he lives! Mwahahahahahhhhhhh! (Just kidding Joe.)
@@RetroRecipes hopefully you can take your K.I.T.T. to meet the Semi at some point
It's absolutely amazing how you've paid attention to every last details to bring Kitt to life again! Your video is a master piece ! Thank you so much to have brought my memories too! Big hugs!
I’m glad you pulled through the initial disappointment and didn’t give up. The results are glorious. Thanks a lot for sharing the joy!
So happy for you and great work so far. Kitt looks way better than what he started like. One suggestion about the power feed for the light bar. It would be safer to have the fuse next to the battery rather than in the car just in case something happens in the engine bay to the wire. Sadly I speak from experience and luckily the fuse by the battery blew and saved my car. I have been hoping for someone to put all the bits of a Tesla into either a Trans Am or a DeLorean for ages now, I hope you do. All the best.
Good point! I discuss in episode one of KITTesla why I don't think that would work. Tesla's code is pretty locked down, and they cancel cars who try to hack. Also the cameras wouldn't align where Tesla expects them. It was my first thought but I think too far a stretch. Instead I put KITT in a Tesla!
That transformation is pretty amazing! It's pretty clear this is just the beginning, so I can't wait to see the result when it's fully complete!
Hopefully you can fit a baby seat in the back, so Babyfractic can grow up experiencing how that feeling of nostalgia affects others, not just you and Ladyfractic. It can only be a good thing to see the joy on people's faces when they're taken back to their childhood by meeting KITT in real life!
I had wondered if we were going to see an update as this KITT restoration of yours is my favorite part of your show. Having grown up watching Knight Rider as a kid, its really a treat to see its inner workings. I'm glad this KITT landed in your hands as you are passionate and patient. We look forward to your future progress videos on KITTS restoration back to its "analog" elegance.
Your enthusiasm is so infectious. I happened upon an episode of Knight Rider on TV this week, having never watched it before, and I watched it with a massive smile on my face knowing of this video series, much to the confusion of my partner!
That's awesome! :D
Just like you I loved this show as a kid. In the early 90’s a neighbor of mine somehow had an authentic one and he would work on it from time to time. Whenever he did I would run over and watch. Your series gave me some serious nostalgia and I’m very grateful for that. I love your channel and everything you do here. Keep it up!
BTW, his hubcaps fell off all the time too 😂
Hehe that's a good point they did! Thanks for your kind words - it means a lot to know people love what we're doing here so much! 🙏
That intro brought a smile to my face
You must have doubled teh weight of KITT with all of teh extra wiring clips and electtonics you have added.. Nostalgia rocks.Outstanding to watch this project progress
Thank You so much for letting us follow you on this epic journey, hope for more in the future, you have done the fans proud 👍
Yep absolutely loved this, man you have put some work in to this and man can you tell. I mean anyone who sees this will be like a big kid at Christmas you guy have done such an amazing job. Now all you have to do is get both the helicopter from AirWolf and the bike from Street Hawk😂. Keep up the great work and have a great weekend, take care and looking forward to seeing more of Kitt 🙂🙂
That looks sick! The 8 year old me wishes he could take a ride with old KITT. I watched it at release in prime time too, so it brings back a lot of feels.
Hey fella! The hard work and the joy you get out of doing all this isn't wasted on us viewers. From start to finish I couldn't help but smile. I appreciate that and your efforts. Bravo!
Thank you!!
Great job, Kitt is looking 800% better than off the flat deck. Looking forward to more videos.
While I'm a long time computer fan, I've never really watched Knight Rider. Your enthusiasm & passion shine through though, in the same way as in the retro game vids, so I'm hooked. Amazing job sir!
It's still worth watching actually if you relate to the present day, talking to his watch, surveilance mode (lidar), and heart rate monitoring are now science facts :-) I've watched a couple of episodes again, and was captivated again
The countdown sound is the highest quality i've heard yet. Most builds sound like they are being played out of an old Tiger hand held video game speaker from the 80's. Really turned out beautifully. Great job.
I'm watching from Turkey. We are grateful for what you have given us to bring the legend of our childhood back to life. I can't hide the smile and happiness on my face every second of the adventure, like you. Thanks for all your hard work.
It's my pleasure. Teşekkürler!
Man, the front scanner light is a game changer. Superb. Looks amazing. I am like you regarding cable management, no soldering :)
I like to solder, just not in a car, so I support that!
Awesome job on bringing K.I.T.T. Back to life, hard work really pays off! I couldn’t imagine having a replica K.I.T.T. of my own. Had a chance once, but with a family it came and went.
It's so satisfying seeing it all come together, those halogen lights really do 'make a difference'! Seeing the joy on people's faces at the end is so wholesome, you can just see the delight in their faces from the hit of childhood nostalgia. Looking forward to the next chapters! ❤
Seeing this all come together finally nearly brought a tear to my eye. What a thing! And I loooove the period-correct background music selections
The work you have done restoring that car is fricking awesome. Love how passionate you are about the show and the vehicle. Can't wait for the A I update.
Here's hoping you can get the AC installed soon. I don't think Michael Knight would be driving around in a leather jacket without it!
Can I just say, watching how happy you are on this journey makes me really happy. Even though I am a little younger than you, I still remember watching Knight Rider growing up, and I too get all the nostalgia kicks as you do. Keep up the excellent work. Cannot wait for the next update.
Thank you!!
Next addition we want to see in KITT: a baby car seat. Knight rider style! 😊🤠
It's happening!!
Excellent work, beautiful KITT replica 😎👍 Love that KITT animation made by Commodore, looks so period correct for original Knight Rider :)
Wow. From how it arrived off the ship to where you are now is an amazing achievement. Congratulations from Corby England 🏴
I’ve absolutely loved this series! Really looking forward to more KITT content.
This was so therapeutic. Just watching you come up with DIY solutions to each problem, and making the best of it was quite inspiring. As a fellow KITT fan I knew I would never be able to get one (I went with a yellow 'bumblebee' Camaro) and this is as close as I think I'm ever gonna get to the 'feeling' of fixing one up LOL. Please never stop making KITT videos.
Absolutely stunning, congratulations on a job brilliantly done. KITT looks the nuts!! Can't wait for more KITT videos😁👍 Mr Knight😉
Only a true KR fan can appreciate your music selection. This is awesome!!! Congrats and so glad it worked out for you!
Good ear!
Absolutely love it, your humor is on point, K.I.T.T. looks amazing and the music selection is epic!
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹
Wow fantastic work Christian! I was beginning to think this was a lost cause and no more updates. Thank you for all your hard work and bringing KITT back to life. The screens with animation were a highlight as were the upgraded scanner and sounds. KITT was and still is a true icon with immense nostalgia.
Excellent season, we got so much joy from following the KITT restoration, your passion and love for this project really comes across. Thank you!
Frankly speaking, I was never a fan of "Knight Rider". I have seen maybe just a few episodes. However, this renovation episode of Retro Recipies is just awesome. It's amazing how this old piece of cinematography history - originally in so poor conditions - turns into the demon of roads. Greets from Poland!
You could have said that unfrankly speaking you were a fan.
Great work. I've always loved KITT, he's got a style and presence all his own. No other car brings a smile to my face like KITT. Take care of him.
Oh I will!
Can’t wait to see what’s next. Absolutely love it. Great job 👏🏻
This is coming along nicely! I can see this car turning into a self driving, self aware AI, hybrid electric/*insert futuristic motor here* Kitt in the future after all the upgrades.
Wow, that really made me feel super nostalgic, and its great KITT is in the hands of someone who appreciates it.
LOVE IT! As a serious fan of Knight Rider as a kid, this is really something special and I'm really enjoying it all! Thank you!
Watched from start to finish, great engineering and love your passion for KITT. You just need to get Airwolf, Street Hawk and the A Team Van to complete your collection!!
Found myself smiling from ear to ear watching this the whole way through. It was awesome watching you do pretty much exactly what I would have done if I had the time and means to do so, and not just settling for a superficial facsimile. That AI idea is the icing on the cake, as is the (more important than you think) non LED front scanner.
Love it, and looking forward to seeing more!
If Kitt gets lonely sitting in the driveway, perhaps you could install a Max Headroom AI to pop up on the viewscreens to keep him company.
My God, I welled up there at the final reveal, all the memories. Stunning job. And this was the first time I learned you guys are expecting! Congrats!
Bless ya. Thank you.
😲Crikey.. I am in awe.. YOU have brought KITT back to life for him , and all of us.. amazing.. even April/Bonnie would be proud.. and of course KITT.. just amazing.. and watching you work on KITT.. brings back so much emotion and memories when they had to fix him up.. this is remarkable and love it.. you are Knight Industries new technicien.. amazing. and Ace Mate to you and everyone involved.. just amazing!!! 😊🏆👌
***as KITT would say '' PERFECTION''... just saying!!
Wonderful episode, my friend! Loved every second of it. Your patience and hard work really paid off :) Not only that you made your dream become true, but you also take us with you on this journey and share your joy with us! Thank you so much for the shoutout, never ever expected it :) Awaiting the future episodes:)
What a cool surprise to see your work used here! I enthusiastically told my wife when I saw it. Really cool and well deserved!
@@LamerDeluxe Thank you my friend for the nice words! It was a wonderful surprise for me too :) This shows what a great and generous person Chris is ! He deserves all the success with his project and channel. Its just a matter of time :)
@@GeorgesChannel it is a really fun channel and I enjoy watching this project progress.
Awesome work! You can tell you put your heart and soul into this project. I would stay up all night in the driveway playing with it.
Hehe I have done indeed :D Thanks for sharing the journey!
i haven't seen any of your previous kitt videos but it looks like you're probably the best person to have and restore it.
It makes me feel happy watching this happen. Keep the updates coming.
Never caught one this early looking forward to seeing this restored to its former glory
It's like You're almost building Your own KITT... incerdible work man! You deserve all the attention and fame You get when You are cruising on the streets in this piece of art
ya know.....after watching your KITT videos, and how much effort/time and $$$$ you've put in to it...and not threw in the towel, im somewhat impressed. Gone thru this process 3 times, and i know how much this can tax your patience. Glad your getting the enjoyment out of this project, you seem to sincerely have fun and really a love & passion for what your doing. Just a warning..... your never truly done. Best of luck, keep it up!
That is so aweseome! The halogen scanner really took it to another level. Many of us are enjoying watching your journey with KITT.
After seeing so many seriously dedicated fans building various KITT cars including remote controlled and auto-drive ones in addition to thousands of viewers on these channels, it's obvious this show was enormously popular and NBC really made a poor decision cancelling it in 1986. It's ratings were still good but they wanted to get on with making money through syndication rather than continue producing an expensive action show when they would rather be making cheap sit-coms. Thus all the networks cancelled the big action shows and the car chase era came to an end in 1986. Such a shame as we should have had a 5th season. Jack Gill promised they could keep production under 1 million per episode and sure, the 5th season would have been shot a lot on the studio back lot, and cheap, but at least we would have gotten more of our beloved show. Now the cars are all gone from Universal and most of the actors are dead or really old so there is no chance of re-launching it. Too bad they didn't do a re-launch in 1991.
Anyway, keep up the good work. Very exciting!
Knowing how to do this kind of electronic work definitely helps with putting the Knight Industries Two-Thousand back together. Probably one of the most enjoyable KR restoration series.
Wow thank you!
The best part of the video was when you discussed your plan to make this car even cooler than it is right now! Great work!
Congratulations on getting your KITT to this point. Looks amazing and thanks for sharing your story with everyone!
43 year old me - seeing K.I.T.T come alive with the soundtrack in the background, just perfection
Kitt looks awesome buddy. I'm not so sure about that guy with the nice hair claiming that there are still other Kitt vehicles still on the Universal lot. Better check him out with Joe and AJ at Knight Rider Historians. 🙂
I can't smuggle a retro Kit car toy into my mancave without my wife rolling her eyes. He gets to buy a frigging real one! Life is not fair folks.
That’s why mine is 1/24 scale and sits upon my gaming shelf.
It helps that Ladyfractic is a fan of KITT too :D
@@RetroRecipes You are really lucky. Most guys, when the lady is expecting a baby, are told to sell their sports car and get a sensible family car. You get Kitt! That is wild and probably another reason to love her all the more.
@@ben8447 To be fair I bought it before baby was even going to be a thing, but yes she's a very understanding wife. That said as mentioned in ep 1, it is a company car ;)
@@RetroRecipes wait until you see what I did with the pics you sent and the 1/24 scale KITT, I have. LF will dig it for sure. 😃
I don't think this car can ever look bad.
Great to see her getting much love from her new owner.
Bloody brilliant work. Must be so rewarding doing all the electronics yourself too. Epic work!
Chouette travail 👍
21:43 - which of KITTs defences did you feel more, the electric shock or the hood to the head? 🤔😁😉
That was a classic comedy bit, yet completely unintentional
23:43 perfect location. The Hoff goes to that kind of area to turn the scanner on / surveillance mode on in the show
Ok, seeing KITT in all his glory at the end got me a bit teary eyed. Awesome work fixing most of the damage. Can't wait to see your future repairs and upgrades, especially the AI one, that'll be crazy.
💯👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🏆😍😍😍😍
The poor electrical system in this car. It was never meant for such loads...
Dreams can come true, congratulations and well done on all the efforts it took to get you to this point... ENJOY!
So great to see how far this project has come since the guy rolled up with the “tired” version of KITT. Sharing your nostalgia for the series and the car, I definitely agree that KITT was successfully revived once the new scanner lights moved along the front. I’m glad this video series isn’t ending here though. Can’t wait for the next chapter. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on a such an interesting and successful project!
Awesome, glad to see KITT is coming along.
Seeing the improved scanner lights, especially after you gave him a bath... just epic! Working TVs, voice, all of it just helps bring him back.
As for the originals still at Universal Studios I am pretty sure they are all gone now. There were some just sitting in the backlot for years but they were moved.
Knight Rider Historians has pretty good info on where most (all?) of them ended up.
This has been so brilliant to watch! I rewatched all of Knightrider during my first year of Uni last year and I’ve been agonising over what to watch next year (Airwolf? A-Team? MacGyver?), now I’m thinking I might just start over with Knightrider! 😁
The gen 3 trans am/firebird really is a timeless and beautiful design. It still manages to look modern 40 years after it’s launch.
You are living the dream my friend. Hats off to you. I love this series. If you can get a conversational AI KITT working, then you would have really brought him to life.
This is so incredibly nerdy, and I can't wait to see what you do next with KITT. Thanks for sharing your progress!
I get so excited when you give us an update on your KITT. Fabulous work Chris, the attention to detail, the added gizmos and gadgets what a joy to watch.
All you need to do now is a Knight Rider spoof episode with some crime busting thrown in. One man can make a difference (with his KITT of course) 🙂
Loved Knight Rider when I was a kid in the 80s. I'm 50 now and when I hear someone say "PCB" I shout "PCB WAAAAYY". And I also so when I'm using a screw driver I make the noise "Eeoo Eeoo Eeoo" while unscrewing something. Lol. I love your show.
I was surprised at first glance you didn't just replace the L.C.D's . I assume the connection options are much upgraded on the new displays. Oven silicone sealant might be a better choice over black tack. I know it's heat resistant up to 450 ° C and is black in colour . Also probably vibration resistant. Never tried it though on a car!. This project is soo eppinfractic it's literally heading towards being KITT ...NOW. I just know your not done with it yet and that's the best part of this series. I feel like I'm 9yr old again 😂🔥❤
Thank you for doing this, bringing a broken car back to be right for Michael Knight. And...of course perifractic and all the veiwers that now have a huge nostalgic smile on our faces.
There is so much work put in here! Nicely done. However, not to be picky, you really should use a hot air gun to shrink the tubing and not an open flame. Also, wire nuts may not be your best option to connect wires, as they may loosen up with time, and vibration. But as with everything, your mileage may vary. Great build sir! :)
As a 45 year old fan from here in New Zealand I must say, JOB WELL DONE! Love the series and will continue to follow whats to come.
I recently just ran into your channel on my CZcams feed. Love what you do with your retro museum in your house, but this car build just flooded me with memories of watching knight rider, A-team and others. Thanks for your work. Keep it up.
thanks, a fan.
I very much enjoy this series. Brings back my childhood Thank you.
I enjoyed the efforts that went into the production of this. I enjoyed the references and music very much. As a Brit trying to work on his car in the heat of North Queensland Australai, I can totally understand why AC was prioritised. I look forward to more episodes.
I remember when KITT bragged that he had 2 terabytes of storage capacity. Back in the 80's that would have been unheard of, but it's funny how that would be no where near what would be needed to have a "sentient" Ai in your car.
Amazing ! I'm so happy for you. Hard work, but it was really worth it. You deserve the happiness of owning KITT 👍
All the hard work has paid off Kitt is back in town ❤❤❤❤
So Happy for you!! I got my KITT last year from a great builder in Michigan. Yours is even more special as you get to be Bonnie and rebuilt KITT into what you want him to be.
Wonderful video Peri
It's amazing to see to amount of work you put into KITT
Keep up the great work! 😃
Great job! K.I.T.T. is alive again. I enjoyed this episode very much. I got goosebumps when the „scanner“ came alive. 👍🏼😃
You and me both!
