- This is the first Rolls Royce that I have ever owned. It was a tricky rebuild which took much longer than I thought. The end result looks stunning, however, I made a big mistake by painting the body and chassis in the wrong colours! - Never mind, it will still look good in my display cabinet and is probably 'One of a Kind'. Please comment and subscribe, thank you, Marty.

Have received my Morris J2 Pickup. Got to meet the man himself. Was awesome to meet both you and Julie. Absolute honour and pleasure. The model is sitting with pride in my display unit. Thank you again 😊😊😊
No worries Mat O, the pleasure was all ours, it was great to see how happy you were with your win. You are welcome, Marty and Julie.
Marty, we are all subject to error. The sign of maturity is when we can admit mistakes to our friends and family. I enjoy your post.
Thanks for keeping the videos flowing during difficult times...
Joy me to see your restorations again.First class work !!! 👍😅🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
The reverse color scheme was a VERY fortunate accident, it looks MUCH better! And the gold just explodes! Looks fantastic!
You're a brave man letting Kevin stand behind you with a razor.
Dude - I really like when you're a bit creative and don't just do a 'makeover'
Maybe do a sub-series where you do extra detail/tweak how you want? Marty's Pimp That Matchbox
it also helps that this model is the base for chitty chitty bang bang ... so he did have MANY options for modifications
@@0623kaboom I love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!!! One of my favorite superhero cars!!!
I always appreciate you saving these beautiful models marty. Instead of being on the rubbish pile or abandon in the toy box, you give them a second life. That's a very happy and touching hobby 🙂 thank you for doing it! Because at some point, every toy was some little boy or girls happiness. Thank you for keeping it alive! Bless from the state's 😃
I totally agree Mathew!!!
I loved these "models of yesteryear", and I had a few of them back in the 70's. The problem was that they were too large to fit into my carrying case. As a result, while I still have my original mid 70's carrying case with all of its contents, any larger vehicles such as these are lost to time.
You did a great job, thanks for sharing with us!
The subtle humour in your videos really tickles my fancy. Nothing is hammered in, one is left to pick up on the subtleties by themselves..
I like your colour scheme better! Well done Marty. Thanks for the video.
Another successful makeover. Thanks Marty.
Recovering from covid19 and watching MMM cant get any better than that.
The color swap is fabulous, it makes the model look like it should have been originally.
One lever is your gear shift, and the other is your parking brake. Great job as usual.
As soon as I saw the link and without the makeover I thought that is a beautiful car. Please do it justice. And you did. Never doubted your mad skills. You could say, “I’m happy with that.”
Marty, you should never worry about the quantity of your videos as the quality will override that every time. I would much rather have one of you videos a week than 1of somebody else’s every day. Yet another cracking job my friend 👍
Thanks for that!
You need to upgrade your drill press Marty. Then you can call it the "Axle Reforming System Extraordinaire."
Don't be an... ;-D
Haha. Goog one
Great work Marty as always. You bring back a lot of childhood memories with the cars you restore and get from people. All the best wishes and please stay safe.
Nice job even if the two-tone is reversed. Being a Matchbox model of that era, it would have been painted originally with Humbrol gloss enamel. The original colours on this car look to me like Ivory 41, and Sunset Red 51. As for the lights on the Rolls, they would have been acetylene lights. The gas generators are those pots on the running boards. You filled them up to a mark with water and then put a few lumps of calcium carbide in, and put the lid on. After a few minutes you could open the taps and light the lights with a match. An old friend of mine had a (full size) 1905 Peugeot Italia, it used the same system. On the Rolls the lever with the grippy thing on it operates the back brakes, and is also the parking brake. There's also a pedal brake that works on the prop shaft. No front brakes on this car, but then, the national speed limit in 1905 was 20 mph! The ball topped lever is the gear change. It was a 3 speed. Throttle, choke & timing advance/retard were levers near the wheel. Clutch was a pedal on the floor.

When you see how the earliest cars had to be operated, it makes you wonder that the things ever caught on. Ford's Model T is another great example, with its insane pedal arrangement, bizarre gearbox, and habit of running over its owner at startup if not set up exactly right. :)
No interest in restoration . New resale models are no longer of interest to many people. You can buy a new model in a box for less than 10 euros
Oh wow!! I love the cool & awesome facts!! I subscribed to your channel
I was hooked from the start.I have a box of old Dinky Corgi and M/box models that need bringing back to life.I am learning from this vid.
Congratulations to all the winners
It never hurts todo a bit of custom work every now and then.
Hello Marty, wonderful work, the Car looks so beautiful and every Barbie would be proud to have such a car.
The "mistake" in the painting turned out to make it even more beautiful. Excellent restoration as always 👍

I had this toy car growing up, and mine was green. I loved it because it was different. I'm glad to see it again.
Always a pleasure when I get the notifications of a new video
I think the smashing result is what Rob at Matchbox Garage calls a restoration plus. Just beautiful. And what Kevin did to you remids me of the Bugs Bunny cartoon, "The Rabbit of Seville."
Superb result and nice haircut
Also very very relaxing to watch you build you model.
The Rolls will be a great one for the breast cancer awareness month challenge. It's gorgeous. I was really hoping to win the mini but, oh well. I hope you and Julie and your family are keeping safe.
EXCELLENT video!! I had this same model in the late 70’s as a kid! I haven’t seen one of these until this video came out. 👍👍👍👍
Looks more like a car Liberace would own..
Fantastic transformation....
If only all mistakes had this wonderful of outcome. She's a beauty Marty. Congrats!!
Fantastic results! You're funny and a treat to watch! Thanks for the good time!
Watching this channel is therapy for me. Cheers, Marty!
Accidentally switching the pink and beige colors turned this model into a matchbox masterpiece. Simply stunning!
The whole effect is quite pleasing.
i love the paint even though it in reverse. i love putting it on display.
Great job redoing this model nice custom paint job
Kevin with a razor. Dangerous. The different paint denotes a Matchbox Limited Edition. LOL! Enjoyed watching! Thanks, Marty.
That car is SPECTACULAR
The paint reversal was a "happy accident" and, I think, it looks *better* that way. The gold paint did a good job too. The pink is quite a bit away from the original red but it suits the old Roller and it's certainly not the first pink Rolls Royce. Great result Marty.👍
Congratulations to the three winners - well done guys.
Cheers for now,
Dougie.
Ur new colour lay out looks miles better that way matchbox had it.
Well done marty.
I really liked this one. Your custom touches are better than when It was new. Thanks.
Marty, your sense of humor just cracks me up. Great job on the Rolls Royce too.
An ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC restoration job!!.. All ready for the next Concours d'elegance!!.. Keep up the great work Bud!!
Wow 😯
What a fabulous car.
Pretty impressive workmanship
Crazy good restoration job.
Came out looking great
Hey Marty, American painter Bob Ross once said " There are no accidents, just happy mistakes" :o) I like the colour reversal and besides Lady Penelope had a pink Rolls Royce. Looks FAB.
Fantastic restoration
I so appreciate that not only you show everything but you explain your choices and reasons for what you are doing which greatly enhances my understanding esp when you have done all you can with certain pieces and can't simply replace them
Beautiful work
Yes I would love such a car haha
My dad had three or four dream car matchbox models on his dresser from the time I could remember until my parents retired. This, in these colors, was his favorite. He once got to drive one at an exhibition at a local race track when they held a gigantice track day car show. My grandfather was the sports editor of the local paper and was able to get my dad in and on a couple occasions behind the wheel of some amazing exotics.
as they say (whoever"they"are) good things are worth waiting for and that is exactly how we feel about your videos Marty. Thanks again.
You are my favorite as I like restoration with a little bit of artistic license. Thanks for this!
Love your work Marty. Keep on making videos at whatever pace you feel comfortable with. The last thing I want is for you to feel burned out because you think you need to pump out videos.
For some reason this just now popped up on my CZcams subscription. What a fun projects. Barbie's Blingmobile.
The gold really sets off the pink. wonderful job! Hey, I also wanted to mention the great job Kevin did on your shave. He is a master with the razor Marty.
"Britain's fattest woman ate fridge and died" :)))) the paint booth magazines are always hilarious!
that's what you get for eating fridges instead of it's contents...
@@lotharrenz4621 they ate both the fridge and the it’s contents
Just wondering, are those for real?
@@robertdragoff6909 Yeah
@@lotharrenz4621 😜😜😂😂😂
I’m not a fan of that pink colour, but painting the lights with chrome (look how shiny!) makes that model really adorable!
I think it looks great! I like the reversed colors and the Tamiya Pearl Lacquer worked very well on the Vallejo Magenta. I too have used Tamiya products and I cannot say enough good things about them. Their primers are the best ones around and they always work well on metal or plastic. Thanks for sharing this, it was great to watch you restore a piece of toy history.
Stunning. Personally I think the colours look better the way you have done.
Not me.
Merci, j'apprends beaucoup avec vous ,superbe vidéo bravo. Et prenez soin de vous à une prochaine vidéo.👍❤❤❤🇧🇪
Loved this weeks remodeled vehicle
I really love these yesteryear models.
Absolutely astounding and enjoyable. Thank you for sharing. Beautiful results.
That looks absolutely stunning, even with the mix up regarding the paint. The pink makes it look like Barbara Cartland's first car.
The red nail varnish suits you 😘
Really enjoyed this one, especially since you mixed up the colours. People have no idea of the sort of things that happen with one of these restoration.
I like surprises! Serendipitously the colour scheme works really well, Like a 60s makeover as driven by the Beatles. Love it! Take care!
The one thing I always look forward to is reading the newspaper headline in Marty's paint booth. This episode's headline was hilarious! Almost as funny as seeing the results of the Koala's effort to cut your hair. Love it Marty and keep up the fantastic work.
Congratulations to the Winners !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These old cars always make me think of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Thank you so much for continuing to produce content! Your videos do so much for me whenever I see them and you have my eternal gratitude.
Excellent job on the Rolls. Wish I could say the same thing about Kevin's talents as a barber.
Superb! My favorite makeover so far! Not fiddly at all 😉
That looks superb, Marty. What a beautiful car the 1906 Rolls-Royce was.
Marty, you did a wonderful job as usual. You could have painted the plated parts with silver or chrome paint. However, there's another way that you can find all the details of in some CZcams videos. You could replate the parts in Nickle. It's electroplating. I don't know if you'd have to remove all previous plating but it really does the job nicely. First you prepare the plating solution of Nickle, then you put in your parts. In both the creation of the nickle solution and the plating, you need to connect up a battery, the details are in the videos.
Well done Marty. I like the colour swap and the custom touches. Better than the original!
I think it looks better now when you painted it opposite colours 😎
Hi Marty, I love the work that you do with the matchbox cars. Some of them my dad bought to me when I was a little kid, especially this model was one of my favorite. I get some tears on my eyes when I saw the restoration finished. Really you bring me back a such good memories from my childhood. Thank's
Great job Marty, another matchbox brought back to life.👍👍
It looks like Parker should be driving Lady Penelope around in it! Great job!
Congratulations to the winners!
Congratulations to the winners of the pickup trucks! well deserved. ^_^
Barbie car or not, the Rolls came out great Marty. I l8e the extra silver detail you added. Thanks for all your hard work! Be safe, be well all.👍🏼🤘🏼😎
Great job on the restoration. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I think the car looks better with the reverse color scheme. 😉
And that 's a clean sweep!
Spectacular job Marty. I know some guys knock out videos really quick but I really appreciate the extra time and effort you put into both the restoration and the video editing.
I appreciate that! Thanks.
To me, it looks better this way. I like the pink body.
I do like the news in your paint booth, always looking forward to se what happens down under.
I liked the reverse colors
I had one of these for years that was in similar condition to what yours started in. I have no Idea where it ended up. This one though is drop dead gorgeous. I didn't realize it could look that nice! beautiful Job! It's definitely period correct for the real car, because the real ones were custom built and often painted all kinds of schemes. Very nice.
Was going to call it a day and got the new arrival notification! Great way to end a day. Excellent job on the model even if colours were reversed. So many little bits, no wonder it looks as good as it does.
My C-4 1996 Corvette has a transverse mounted spring on the rear just as your Rolls Royce does.
Great job, Marty, congrats to the lucky winners.
The color reversal was a stroke of genius with that gold trim!
If memory serves right, those levers on the side are the service brake (works on the rear wheels) and the gear change. (The foot brake works on the gear box).
Everything about this makeover is outstanding. Everything!
Congratulations to the winners of Marty's Makeover trucks. Lucky!!
Another fantastic, sweet build of a cute, beautiful classic car, Marty!! You’re a true master, my friend!! Is Kevin keeping himself out of trouble?? Give him a hug for me…once you’re able to chase & catch up to him😍😍😁😁
It is a stunning car Marty. Don't be too hard on yourself because other modelers seem to customize rather than restore. If they had to restore the rally cars some use they wouldn't be churning them out so quickly. I feel Its a shame seeing those unique cars turned into a one paint job. Keep up the good work.
The "mistake" you made actually makes the car look so much better than the pink fenders. Looks like a "Staempunk" version of Lady Penelope's FAB-1.
BTW, The condiment squeeze bottles (what you call a sauce bottle) are usually polyethylene or polypropylene, which are inert to most solvents, though I've found when I use them to store methylene chloride (the active ingredient in "hot" model glues like Tenax) will actually evaporate through it... I found that out when the MC supplied to glue acrylic sheet (Plexiglass) started to drop in level after a week. Luckily I'd only lost a couple of centimetres' worth from a 3.78 litre (1 US gallon) jug, so I transferred it into an old brown glass jug and it's been good for years.
Congratulations to the three winners. Live the Rolls.
Yay, a new MMM video. Or as I'm calling it: MCIT - Marty's Covid Isolation Therapy. Please keep them coming to keep us sane, but don't overwork yourself. P. S. I think the Rolls looks far better pink over cream than the original 👍👍👍
Great video one of the most complex refurbs I've seen you do the colour scheme turned out tremendous
nice wee view of the hobby room at the end
