I was diagnosed on November 4, 2018 and it was horror. Im not trying to scare anyone out there, it is very possible to make it through. My sugar was over 1000 when i went to the hospital. The doctors were suprised I was responsive and not in a coma. Now that im out of the hospital its not that bad. I call my self a diabaddie and think its so cool because everyone thinks im so brave for having to stick myself. I finally got my dexcom about 2 weeks ago and realized it was so much better than finger sticks. I am so grateful for something like the dexcom g6. My friend and I are the only diabetics at our school and we have gotten to bond so well over diabetes.
I know in extra ⏰ but I’m just getting a Dexcom 6. Blessings to U & ur Diabetes. Sept. 2021 will make 36 years of me having Diabetes. The technology & scientific 🧪 discoveries of glucose control has 🚀🚀🚀!!! I don’t understand how I’m still alive but God knows! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 I Hope U live the Best life with Diabetes 🙏🏾🥰🤩🥳
I went to the hospital ER/ICU with 1400 sugar via ambulance. I dont even recall being taken there. I must have been close to or in a sugar coma. 7 days later before leaving the hospital Dr’s told me I was a lucky man…most people that come in with that high sugar level dont make it out. Maybe he was trying to scare me…now I’m watching diet, blood pressure. My levels are between 85 and 114, I’m off the insulin and on 500mg Medformin 2 times day. I’d love to get off the pills at some point if possible. Lost 35 pounds too!
@@JoeGiz64 dude we can connect I was in also the same situation !
Idk if you still active but if you can we connect I was in a similar situation
Just got mine in. Been diabetic for 20 years now. I think it’s going to be life changing.
I just received my new Dexcom G6 and after watching your video, I am really excited to give it a try! Dexcom has saved me so many times from serious lows! I love everyone I talk to at Dexcom, they are so helpful and knowledgeable!
Ten days ago the diabetes nurse educator installed the DexcomG6 on me so today was the day I needed to change the sensor. The written material I received, however, read like an ancient language to me! I could not understand how to install the new sensor. Your video helped so much! Thank you; I really appreciate it ♥️
I have been a G5 user for a couple of years. I am excited to get my G6 in the mail in a couple of days. Thank you for your video. I was a minimed user for 18 years and went on the Omni pod for three months and hated it, so I went back on my MM pump. Come January 1st 2018, I went off my pump and started Tresiba long acting insulin and Novalog short acting insulin. I continued to use the G5 as my numbers on my phone and are easy to send to my doctor. I saw how people talk badly about MM and Dexcom. They are both good companies and I am glad we as diabetics have a choice.
I just got my Dexcom 6 and have been so confused about how to put it on, put it all together and your video was SO helpful!!! THANK YOU!!!!
How long have you been a diabetic? Been going good for you?
Hi Danica, just started my G6 and your video was so helpful to watch before starting. I already LOVE IT!!!!
Can't wait to start mine! The close up shots really help for a 1st time Dex user! Thanks.
You are a bundle of happiness! thanks! I'm considering a CGM for T2D so I can learn what each food does to my sugar with a hope that I can control my sugars better and not need meds.
As a Certified NJ School Nurse, this was great. Thank you and you have a great upbeat attitude toward diabetes education!
I love watching your videos. You are so up and positive, thank you. You take the fear away and replace it with confidence and security.
I watched your presentation on the G6 and look forward to using it Friday when I receive mine. Thanks, looks simple to apply
I just opened mine up. LOVE IT!! Did not hurt at all! The G4 and G5 would hurt at insert, and stopped for a while, but then got a low of 24 and that was a wake up call for me. Thank God i was approved and in time for G6.
Thank you Danica you help me. Great information. I just got the G6 and now after watching your video I am going to insert it. G5 upgraded......
I am going to put in my first G6 sensor the day after tomorrow. I am glad I found your video to watch first. Thanks so much. Appreciate the info and video 👍🏻
Made me cry. Thanks for sharing. This looks like a good step in the right direction. I'm from UK... Hope it comes here soon.
I'm receiving my very first Dexcom CGM TODAY and it's version G6!!! I've been a diabetic for 25 years and the thought of not having to do finger sticks any more is unbelievable! It will be interesting to see my blood glucose reading in real time which I am hoping will give me the control I've never been able to attain before. Here's to an exciting, healthier, less highs and lows, and peace of mind for me and my family! The tutorial was fun, easy to follow and I'm pretty pumped up for the thing to be delivered!
Thanks for the video, I'm looking to work at dexcom and this helped confirm my interest in the company.
Just received my G6 and can’t wait to try it. I want one of your t-shirts!
Loved the video. You explained it very well. I have been a diabetic for 20+ years and am now going to be using the Dexcom G6 sensor. Thank you!!
Thanks as always D! Will be joining you using the X2 and G6 starting today with a G6 and tomorrow on the X2 with a trainer. After 12 years on Animas I'm humble enough to want training.
I’m expecting to receive my Dexcom G6 next week. I’m glad I saw this video, and I’m anxious to try this product. Thanks for providing this video and information
I used the Libre System for almost 1yr then they changed the type of adhesive. And for the first time in my life I became allergic to that adhesive type. I tried every type of barrier product nothing would allow me to use them. Thankfully I have a Diabetes Alert Service Dog to help me. I will be starting my Dexcom G6 life next week I'm so excited. Thank you for this wonderful video.
Thank you for your very positive explanation of the G6. I just inserted my second G6. I like it for sure!
I quit using the Dexcom 5 strictly because of the pain/complex insertion. This was intimidating to me & always took me at least 30 minutes to "get going". With the new Dexcom 6 & ease of insertion, I can't wait to get this CGM going. Thanks for the review & information. I've been a Type one diabetic for 51 years . . .
Ok I just followed your video to insert my first G6 sensor and transmitter. It is in and paired fine and yay I did it!! Thanks so much, Danica for this video and your help. So cool!! 😀
Thanks for the video. My first Dexcom is on its way. Leaving messages with them to see if I'm getting a G5 or G6. Wanting the G6 after watching your video.

awesome, thanks for the overview, I am a new pump and dexcom user with the g5. I am excited about this one!
Very nice!! I wore CGM for 6 years. But since insurance has changed I can't afford it. I loved it. It was a life saver. Just wish they could make it a little more affordable. Thanks for sharing!
Robin Bryant I lost my insurance a few months ago and couldn't part with my CGM. Found a guy who replaces the transmitter batteries for a good price. I also wear each sensor for 2 weeks. So a $240 box of 4 lasts two months, which isn't too bad for me to justify. The price dexcom sells transmitters for is ridiculous, especially since they should be rechargeable. That isn't new technology... I also use the xdrip app which is more robust than the dexcom app. Dexcom has good stuff, but you're right, the price is just silly.
The per day cost of Eversense (a 90 day implanted GCM - no needles),, which is about to be FDA approved, is the same as Dexcom. But once it moves to 180 or 360 days, it should be a lot cheaper. Plus if you can recharge it, maybe you can push it further!
I'm a brand new Dexcom user. My new endocrinologist recommended this model and I agree with him so far.I attached my sensor after watching this video. So glad I did! I knew what to expect and that was great. The insertion "click" can be louder than expected, that was the only thing different I found than in the video. Application did not hurt at all. It's literally like a flick as Danica says. Getting the sensor to lock in can be a bit of a push if you've not used a CGM before. Now to gain even tighter control on my BSs and quit being a human pin cushion with finger sticks!
I just got mine this week and so very happy about it. I have check and it was 1 point off so I'm very happy with it.
Great info Thank You. My doctor ordered one for me two days ago. We talked about the pump that goes with it .
I’ve been a type2 since 1992 ish . I went on insulin somewhere around 1998 Ish. So you can understand the fingers are sensitive.
Maybe type 1
i've been approved for my Dexcom G6 so exited when it comes in the mail and i get it on so happy!!
Thank you so much for an amazing demonstration!!! I've made up my mind now to change from Medtronic Guardian Connect to the Dexcom G6!! The sensors from Medtronic fill up with blood if you hit a capillary. I went through FIVE sensors and STILL did not get one inserted so I gave up and immediately sent my doc a message to get the process rolling to change CGM's. I need reliability not more anxiety. Again, thank you so much for your excellent demonstration!!!
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes March 22 I went into a diabetic coma it really gave all my family a scare god gave it to me because I’m a warrior and can handle it you inspire me so much to be strong I use dexcom g6 and the i port advance thank you your so so strong🩸
My daughter is receiving her dexcom G6 Chm and her talon pump today! I’m so nervous... but excited! She’s only done injections and finger pricks her entire 5 years since diagnosis.
thank you for helping me attach my first ever cgm. Today is the first day so thank you!
Excellent Danica and though I haven't read all the comments, I want to mention one thing to those that are shuttering at the cost of CGM. I had a minimed CGM a few years back and it was so inaccurate, it was useless, but since I have been using Dexcom, my hypoglycemia unawareness has been reversed! My Doctor had told me that it would take tighter control and until l bought the Dexcom G5, I didn't know how controlled I could become. Yes, it takes an investment, but I figure my life is worth the minor amount of spending. I totaled three cars with unawareness, but that is no longer a concern. Thank you for your work Danica!
I’m so grateful that my job is paying 90% of my dexcom cost! I just placed my order today, it’ll be here in 7 days!
Thanks for sharing! Have been apprehensive abt the insertion process but it doesn’t seem bad! Might try it out!
Useful information starts at 10 1/2 minutes.
thx
Amen way too much unnecessary talking
It`s a Girl, what did you expected ;-)
Yeah... I've learned that in most "How to..." videos, you're going have to skip past a lot of talking.
thanx
Hello. Thank you for the video. I am a type 1 diabetic and I just switched to this system and I have never used a remote sensor before. I was born in the early 70's, so I was a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing when I unboxed the whole system. One can easily see where everything is supposed to go, but I did not know how to get it on me, or the order in which to do it.I had zero clue how to put the applicator on me. Did I put the sensor in it and then out it on me, etc.
But your video was amazingly easy, Now it is successfully on me. I did not know the tab had to be removed. I was really clueless, but watching you it was amazingly simple. If I had not watched it I would have pulled the applicator off and stuck the sensor in it and then tried to apply it. Or I may have... luckily I just went to find a video and yours was the first one that I found.
Thanks!
Thanks for doing this demo!!!
I saw someone do this on a tik tok and its pretty interesting.
I know right
Glad I’m not alone
same lmaoo
Same xD
Hey me to
It’s 3am and I’m not even diabetic why am I watching this
tiktok
@JHeints - lol type two or type on diabetes can happened any moment and your brain what's to make sure your not getting it and also I'm a diabetic since was 1and a half years old your brain is just trying to protect your body from a disease that has no cure
Because chances are you know somebody who has diabetes. I refuse to use the phrase "I'm diabetic." That sounds like I'm a freak. That's NOT who I am. It is a horrid lonely disease, and it's difficult to bear the burden alone. Having an understanding and supportive friend is a great blessing.
Diabetes doesn't discriminate if you have family history it could affect you .
@@ArmandoLuis1318 I don’t actually have a family history of diabetes, just lung cancer! Almost everyone on my dad’s mom’s side has died in their later years from lung cancer
Hi Danica. My doctor just ordered me a Dexicom G6. It is my understanding that this is water proof/ water resistance. My prior experience is with a Dexicom G4 for 1 week. During that one week it help me be in control of my diabetes. My numbers were the best in like 3 years. Thank you for your video and look forward to future videos. All my best regards for a healthy safe and successful future.

FedEx just dropped my sample off today, alot easier to learn correct the first time.. looking forward to noticing my lows..thanks for the info and cheers from atlantic canada
They sent my first G6. I was so afraid because of everyone complaining. Thank you I hope it works for me. I started on G4 years ago.
I rather have the G4 - more reliable
I always learn so much from your videos, Danica, thank you so much! I am on Medicare, so could only start with the G5. THEY hope to get Medicare approval G6 later this year or next year. This CGM is so much better than the Contour Next CGM with Medtronic 670G.Than CGM was not good at all! Even the auto mode did not work for me. Used t- slim before Medtronic. C a n hardly wait to get back to it! Just be careful when you charge it that the cover for the charge port is not bent over too much. It did keep trying to brake off on mine.
czcams.com/video/4aRrnTDwU1c/video.html
i love your vids & enthusiasm. I just got the Dexcom G5, my insurance is kind of crappy so I don't think I'll be able to get the G6 for a while but it looks really exciting!!!
great video... I just received mine today, and had some reservation about insertion. She did an excellent job demonstrating first time use.... thanks
What an uplifting video. You could not be any cuter or excited!! I have used Dexcom for years and love them, love the 11-14 days usage so I can live with ten days just fine. They should be waterproof now; we have the technology, my phone is now waterproof.
I just converted to Medtronic 670G and after a month, yes I am getting better numbers but I am missing the simplicity of Dexcom with the 2-3 finger pricks daily. This new CGM is requiring blood about 5-6 times a day... GRRRRR!!!
Eversense can be fully removed so you can swim and shower. It is implanted (no needle). so with the transmitter off, you can do anything in the water that you want.

@ And approved by medicaid and medicare
Thanks for this video! We're going to insert my 5yr old's first sensor tomorrow.
Your videos are so helpful! Thank you Danica!
very well explained THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO.
Very clear and helpful video. Thanks veyr Much!
You're awesome Danica. I'm pretty sure I'd miss the re=-start cheat but the inserter looks fantastic!e
Thank you. Excellent video, product and presentation.
Thanks Danica! Just getting ready to order the G6 for newly diagnosed little man..
Hi , I’m also t1d , I have the freestyle libre and I’ve just recently come off the pump and back on injections ♥️
Thanks for the video, awesome job. I recieved mine today.
Great video. Thanks for the information.
I watched this before I put mine on and it helped get rid of the stress
Hi Danica. I'm useing the enlite sensor from Medtronic. And It looks like the dexcon G5, It pops out and i have to calibrate every 12 hours. I hope the next one will be similar to the G6. Great video.😘😘😘
Thank you for that video, Danica. My son is a Type 1 and we just got our G6 (he's been on G5 for a year and a half) and we are looking forward to the upgrade this weekend. Typically when we put the G5 on his stomach he knocks it right off. With the slimmer profile, would you say this is significantly less likely?
Ty for this video, I just received my first one
I get to be upgraded to the g6 next month and I cannot wait!
Waiting to update to G6 good video.
Sweet! Just found out about this this week at my endo appt! Fingers crossed my insurance pulls through 👍🏿
czcams.com/video/4aRrnTDwU1c/video.html
Great Job on the presentation.
Thanks for the video :) I'm not diabetic but my mother is, she's been this way for only a couple years now and I'm trying to get more educated about her condition to be able to help her. She's very sensitive, and so blood pressure cuffs and needles hurt her very much. I'd like to see options that would give her less pain.
thank you so much it was very help full
This really is good info thanks for sharing.
Great review, thanks! I like the smaller/thinner transmitter a lot and the fact that it's no longer affected by Tylenol, but there's no WAY there's about the same amount of plastic as the G5 in that thing! I really wish the inserter was reusable - that's just so wasteful! Also, personally, I don't think two calibrations a day is a huge inconvenience. Lastly, I can usually get about 12-13 days out of my G5 sensors + skintac wipes. The fact that you can't trick it into giving you more than 10 days isn't worth it to me right now. I'm happy with my Omnipod and Dexcom G5, linked to my phone, but that's just me. Maybe the smaller/thinner transmitter will lure me in the future.
This tutorial is just awesome! Thanks!!!
That must have been such an amazing experience- I’ve only had my Dexcom (G5) for about a month and I find their customer service amazing. Maybe it’s just me but I find the G6 insertion more nerve wracking than the G5 - which is generally the least popular opinion! :)
My sons shipment arrived with no sensor device. Sending this back!!
Awesome video, thank you!
OMG I'm so excited. That is one sexy CGM. I will wear that so well.
Wow that's really neat!!!
Great video! Love your ID bracelet!
Did they talk about the native app for the Apple Watch. That seems to be MIA since watchOS 4 was released.
TYSM, I think I’m going to upgrade. I quit using my G5 bc the supplies were too expensive. Hopefully my new insurance will cover more. I really hope I can recycle that plastic applicator!
I have not insert my G6 yet but I really liked the video. thanks
I love your videos! Are you still doing the Fiasp insulin? I hope you are doing good.
I have the new Dexcom G6 and I love it. I am a former Dexcom G5 user and I must say that it is so much better to insert the sensor into the skin than before. Although the application unit is much larger, it's hardly noticeable that the sensor has been inserted because the process is so smooth. I like the idea of not having to calibrate the G6, however I still do because I want to make sure it captures my glucose readings as close as possible to the actual finger stick method. I must say, however, the readings have been very, very close to being spot on to the actual finger stick number. I had to fight with BC BS (Medical Insurance) over getting the device and which medical supply company to get it from. It had to be from one of the providers on their web site, which there were only two at the time. The Price of he G6 is much, much less than the G5 and that's another fight with the Insurance companies. IT'S A GREAT PRODUCT!!!!
I just got to prove to get an omni part and the Dexcom G6 I'm so excited

Just got mine. I haven't used one before. Hopefully you can show me how to get it into service.
You’re the best Danica! I just got the dexcom g6 11 days ago. The first sensor I put in my abdomen like they suggest. I feel you on the flick of how it feels! This time I tried the back of my arm but it’s been painful from time to time. I’m pretty lean so I’m sure that doesn’t help. Out of curiosity, do you place the g6 on your arm? If so, do you do it horizontally or vertically? I tried vertical with the needle going upwards but it seems to have complications. Let me know if you have any tips. I’m so grateful to have found your channel!
I just hope that they have plans to pair it to the tandem pump. Using the G5 and pairing it to my pump has reduced my A1C significantly within a year.
Great video. It’s pretty cool!!
Freestyle libre can be calibrated when you couple it with the Miaomiao device. With that setup it sends alerts to your phone every 5 minutes, provides high and low alerts plus rapid rise and rapid drop.
Joseph Somers I read it doesnt
Excellent video.
I have been diagnosed over 45 years. When I started, the only way to test sugar levels was to see how much sugar you were spilling through the kidneys -- three drops of urine added to ten drops of water, toss in the tablet, and see what the color is when the test tube stops boiling. Woefully inaccurate! Then came the first blood testing strips using finger lancets the size and sharpness of a garden shovel. The current testing monitor and test strips I use are so much easier, and I prick my fingers four times a day but it still doesn't enable the tightness of control I would like. My Dexcom G6 will be arriving shortly. At my age there isn't much to look forward to anymore, but I >>AM
Hey Arthur, if you see this, I hope the machine has contributed to a better quality of life, Sir.
@@msbaboolal agreed
I just watched this im waiting to see if im approved with my insurance I had the lebre style accuracy was way off and sensors would fall off all the time I hope this one works better
Love your t shirt. Extreamly helpful vid hahaha
Do you use a alcohol sticky wipe before you insert it
Love your shirt! My Diabetic daughter would love one!! Where can we get it please? Thanks for all you do! Blessings 🙏❣️
Thank you very helpful getting ready to change to G6
