G6 to G7 is an advancement in it self. Just switched from G6-G7 9 days ago, getting ready for my 2nd G7 install. Love it, because prior to using CGM’s, in the last 10 yrs. have had 3 ambulance rides to Emergency Room for low BS. Thanks you Dexcom.

Waiting for the Tandem integration here, as well. (Thanks for recommending it a while back!!) Is the back of the arm now the recommended location, or an option to the old standard/only choice, the abdomen? I ask because I also really rely on the overtape to keep it in place, and find applying it a two handed application. I’m rather all thumbs, and am a bit uneasy about the mechanics of inserting the sensor and applying the tape one-handed in an awkward position. Thanks so much for all your videos!

I started with the Dexcom G7 2 months ago. The first sensor would not read my blood glucose and I had to throw it away. The 4th sensor wouldn't pair with the app so that had to be replaced. All others work fine and Dexcom replaced the two faulty ones. However it regularly gives me faulty readings and the worst thing is that if my blood sugar is low and I drink/eat suga to correct itr it take at least 30 minutes to show an increase my bs reading. It never goes up to 3, 4 or 5 it just goes from low to 10 (180) and then I have to take insulin. I think it's completely ridiculous. With my glucometer I have to only wait 10 minutes and I will see my bs go up enough to not consume more sugar. I have considered throwing the sensor and phone I paid €500 for and only has the dexcom app out the window many times. I find the Dexcom handy but I could easily go back to my glucometer .

Also, I sleep on my back, so the back of my arms don't seem like a good place to put the sensor. Therefore, hopefully, the fatty inside of my arm seems like it would be better.

That made me laugh because I jumped at the loud sound too! And I can’t remember if you asked or not, but I place it on my abdomen because otherwise I can’t get the adhesive patch on the thing. Also because getting the sensor on is a 2 handed process for me. It seems to work fine. I do a finger stick the next morning after I put on a new sensor. Works really well. This is my first BGM so I have nothing to compare it with. All I know is sticking my finger every morning was getting to be a real chore and my fingers always hurt. Between the BGM and Ozempic, I can almost forget I have diabetes.

@@BlackJack-sx1jw Well, I'm glad to hear the someone else had the same reaction. 🙂 Also, I saw another video where the person said that they used it on their abdomen. However, I'd rather follow the rules so that if something goes wrong, they can't blame me for not following the instructions. Although something HAS already gone wrong. Mine stopped working after about 5 days and the app message told me to take it off and put on a new on. But the only problem with that is that I have 3 of them (a 30-day supply) and my insurance won't pay for anymore before that time.
Also, I noticed that my glucose was running kind of high with the Dexcom, so I used a finger prick and from that, my numbers weren't as high as the Dexcom was saying it was. 😕 But I hope that I don't have to go back to finger pricking because my smaller fingers had started to no yield blood. However, I read somewhere that it was actually better if you pricked your middle finger and your ring finger to better results.

I use my upper arms as part of a rotation-right side-arm, abdomen, butt, thigh; repeat left side. Arms are my favorite. Run the tubing up the arm and down the torso to clip on a waist band. I learned the hard way, to tape slacked tubing to my skin about 8” from the infusion site, so when I get hung up on a door handle, the tug will be on the taped tubing and not on the insertion site, which invariably wrecks it.
I just never put a sensor near an area with the infusion site.

Tandem is working on it. I am using G6 because I have the pump also

When will it communicate with tandem x2 anyone know?

Not currently. But they are working on that. So hopefully they'll be compatible with each other very soon!

On the second sensor insertion and pairing you will probably realize that the Bluetooth code is identified, on your phone, by a”DXCMxx” with the xx being two letters. The two letters are not identified any where in their packaging. So, question will be which Bluetooth code to remove? I messaged Dexcom and they thought that it was like the G6 which used the last two numbers from the calibration code. NOT, so they are checking on it, for now. Great to see you again! I’m not sure if dexcom got back to you about this but I read somewhere that if you leave your Bluetooth pairing open and it shows more than one they will all be disconnected but if you watch them sometime within the next 5 minutes you will see one of them change to “connected”. That will be the current one that you are using and you can delete the others. Hope this helps ☮️

I am not excited about a completely disposable unit. At least the other way less was thrown out. The only reason to do this is to prevent people from using the sensor site for longer than 10 days. Not a fan.

Exactly. Restarting a sensor is the only way many people are able to afford to use sensors long term. It makes me really upset to see people praising these companies because moves like this prove that they care about their bottom line more than they care about their actual patients.

@@TheAshleydelmar Exactly! They're so expensive even WITH insurance it's hard to keep up. 😞

Plan on trying a CGM , from what I have read re Dexcom 7 sensor failures etc maybe the Dexcom 6 is a better choice ?

    • @BlackJack-sx1jw
      @BlackJack-sx1jw Před 8 měsíci +1

The G7 is the first CGM I’ve used. The only downside I can see is that it’s really hard to put that extra adhesive patch on with no wrinkles.

Hi! I am not diabetic, only a paramedic and nursing student, and just out of curiosity for educational purposes, (I understand if nobody wants to answer), how much more expensive is the dexcom G7 compared to the G6? And if I understand with the G6 you could reuse the same transmitter for three months before disposing of it, you just replace a small sensor every ten days?

Not liking the G7, the g6 needle went sideways and this 7 is a straight pin thats not bendable i will stay with my 6 and continue to extend the transmitter....nah on the g7
