J CUTS ARE MY FAVOURITE! Also, how many times did I say story in this video?
Hey you guys!!! 😘😊😚Yayyyy another video! Finally 💉💉💉 gonna watch now!
Love the video. You look super cute! Gonna make a latte now. 😄👌
Are you leaving the office light or going dark?
Anymore home remodeling coming soon?
It’s the little things make everything else better. 😉

+100 respect points for using the term 'techniques' instead of 'hacks'.
or tricks
or tipps
Thank you! Hacks is not only grossly overused but an ugly-sounding word as well. Sounds like a person trying to clear their throat.
She says "this trick" right at the beginning lol@GustavoMendozaCanales
J Cuts are the BEST! They also really, really help when cutting down long sequences of dialogue! Recently I had to do a corporate video of two people talking, and I basically had to turn a ten minute video into a three minute video. By using lots of J cuts it's so easy to make those cuts super seamless, making it look as if it was just one short conversation all along!
AronBagel absolutely!!!
Audio is the element that holds EVERYTHING together in the edit. Great video
impressive technique to use ............. Never stop teaching us new stuffs , we always need more .
lovin u Becki and Chris 3000 .
Super helpful! I’ve known what J and L cuts were but your explanation of when and why to use them makes things 1000x more effective. Thanks!
Hi guys, just wanted to say I love the freshness and content of what you both are doing, it's so refreshing to watch. Keep up the great work.
I like how you showed the timeline and how it looks on the timeline, because so many of us are visual learners and seeing how it would look helps because we can go back and look and if we see something way different in our panel, we know we messed up somewhere and also you two are just awesome.
Dmogul thanks! I’m also a visual learner so I need to see something to really make sense of it. Glad it was helpful!
I love how you break down these techniques so that they’re easy to understand. I’ve heard of them before but the process and when to use didn’t click with me until now. Love these tutorials!
Melinda Davison thanks so glad it was helpful!
Wow, Thank you Becki... We have been struggling with telling stories as we new to editing and this is the first video to actually give a technique to telling a story and WOW WOW WOW :) Very VERY HELPFUL :) Thank you
I know that I'm showing my age but in my day we called that VO/SOT( voice-over/sound on tape). Now that we have nonlinear editing I see why you call it what you do. Great video Becki!
Brilliant, thank you for this! Editing tips that help with storytelling is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for sharing, this was incredibly helpful!
LOVE THIS!!! Thanks so much for sharing/showing some very useful editing/story techniques. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. Keep up the awesome work.
I think I’ve used these techniques to a degree without knowing it (ie cutaway), but I loved learning more about the how’s and why’s so that I can practice better in the future
This was so helpful! I never knew about J and L cuts before. Now that you’ve explained them them, I know I’ve seen them used. Just never really paid attention to it. Can’t wait to try these out in future videos. Thank you!!

You know those things that you've seen a gazillion times but never thought what its actually called?? This is it! So good! This one video just made me a subscriber. :)
This was awesome! Thank you so much for doing something on this because as a new channel and new into video things like this really help us as we progress! We cannot wait for more of your content it’s easily one of our favorites on CZcams!!
So glad you found it helpful! :)
This is the ideal CZcams channel. I get editing advice and I get to see footage from a fellow helicopter pilot! You are both so energetic too.
I've seen this technique used so many times but its never been explained to me. Thank you for this video.
Extra points for using an espresso machine!!! In my opinion - the only way to make decent coffee. Well done!
Super cool! I had no clue this had a name, but I love the technique and well used makes a story to be a simple line! Thank you once again!
Your new setup is a aesthetic beast! Love it!
My absolute favorite cuts. I use them in every video! They’re like the every day carry tool for video edits. ❤️👏❤️🙌❤️

Juan Manuel thanks!
Those winged eyeliners are on point! Love it!

Going to try this! Thanks for opening my eyes!
Never noticed thanks for the tip can't wait to try!
The subtle way of transition without even emphasising it majorly. It's so smooth, it usually goes unnoticed. Really, didn't know it had a name 😅 XD
Great editing tips Becki. I would like to see more!
Love this! I've been using them but never knew what they were called.
Loving this video as always, and your hair looks amazing!!
This was cool. I was already doing these now and then, without knowing what they were lol
So well explained. Love the tips.
I starting noticing this when watching videos. Now I know that it's actually a thing - and what it's called. Thanks! Will definitely look for good opportunities to use it.
Great Video! I am a novice and have been trying to figure out how this is done. In my head, I thought this was the way but wasn't sure. Thanks for the tips! New sub!
Sub'd awhile back... still the best decision of 2019 with content like this. thanks Becki
I love your personality, those sounds and effects from you! This plant is hitting me :D
J cuts really help with longer B roll sequences. The latte looked delicious.
OMG I was going to put up my travel video and I saw your video, I just re-edit it LOL
Love it!!! Thanks 🤙🏽

Super cool tip!! Thanks 👋🏻
Always excited to watch your videos. Amazing !
Thank you!
Awesome explanation!!
Why did it take me so long to watch this video? My bad
J-cuts are one of my faves! It’s always a challenge to chop down your content, and sometimes it hurts, but sticking to the meat and potatoes is always the best way to move a story forward.
I love the way you teach so cheerfully.. 😆
Love it. Thank you.
Great video thanks for the tips!!!
Thanks for the tip love it and trying it today
that was really well explained!
Very useful tips for sure! Always love it!! Also, this is what happens when Becki makes a video with no Lazy guy on the couch haha (refer to the bloopers at the end).

Useful stuff... Thx guys! 😃🤗
Good Luck 🙂
BBBBBBBBBECKI! Love your videos! And Chris is pretty cool too! ;) J and L cuts are dope. I think you used them sooo perfectly here and I like them a lot better in vlogs/documentaries as transitions than I do in feature films. I just feel that they look better. Great job and I'll be looking to try to incorporate more J&L cuts in my videos as a challenge! Becki&ChrisJ&Lcutchallenge. it's gonna be a thing.
When I did media studies and we were discussing this technique in movies they were called "sound bridges", when sound overlaps from one scene into the next or vice versa.
Great video, how long did it take you to put this video together. Recording, editing.
