There are many players who do not know this boss even exists in Elden Ring... and they are lucky they don't. The Soldier of Godrick is a formidable adversary. Those unfortunate enough to have accidentally stumbled upon the Soldier of Godrick's domain have quit the game due to how powerful he is. This is considered one of the hardest boss fights in Elden Ring and all of the Fromsoft Souls-like games. Here is how you can finally beat him.

I beat the tutorial in like 5 minutes and killed the soldier first try, you might not recognize me cause my gamer tag is “let me solo her” which is actually just a reference to a your mom joke, anyways the game has been so easy I beat the game and didn’t even remember this melina person you call a boss. The only reason I didn’t finish in 2 hours was cause I kept passing out irl, the games just too relaxing.

This boss is ridiculously hard, I’m glad people are starting to talk about him. I used the finger remedy and summoned “let me solo him” but the dude got annihilated in seconds! Soldier of Godrick is no joke.

I fought him and it was easy. I managed to finish the tutorial in only 104 hours. Im getting really good. Im on 866 hours rn and currently up to margit the fell omen. I think hes the final boss.

Pro tip guys, I found out that Soldier of Godrick can be staggered by jump attacks! I got to half health before he curb stomped me, wish me luck for my next attempts, I think I almost got his moveset down.

I always try to break his posture above anything and just do jump attacks until he's posture broken. Thankfully the riposte does a good amount of damage.

Malenia and miquella combined their power to seal him away in that very cave. He could escape at anytime but he spends his time there to meditate.
If he were free, godrick would've easily won against Malenia and took her great rune.
Soldier of godrick could easily become elden lord and destroy godrick but he has a strong sense of honor and loyalty to his dear friend.
He has a second fight in a super secret area you can only access by sacrificing your first born child
and committing heinous acts against several Cambodian orphans.
I really hope vaati covers him because I just scratched the surface.

After 500 hours attempting this boss, I've made a breakthrough. Finally got him past 1/4 health using powerstanced naginatas & seppuku & golden vow. Unfortunately his stare alone was enough to instantly kill me, but maybe I can get to 1/3 health next run!
Watch out for Monday morning form after his vacation form because he gets 69420% stronger
He must be going easy on you
after several attempts of facing this boss I found out you can damage him by pressing R1. Still a tough fight but it's helping

@@grogueQ you'll be looking for the button on the controller's back end. Presuming you're holding the controller properly(be careful, Soldier of Godrick has a telekenesis move where he twists it in your hands), you should be able to see four buttons facing the console. R1 is the button on the top-right of this set. However, while it does damage him, trying to use this move will cause him to start casting Dark Bead, so you need to be careful and time your moves with high precision. This method also allows you to skip phase seven and go straight from six to eight.

@@grogueQ the Kinect is supposed to be used as a backup ranged option- using it as your main tool triggers him to set his AI to his ng+8 version for exactly 4.5 seconds, which is exactly enough time for you to run out of stamina from dodging his follow up barrage. Some people recommend throwing the Kinect at him in phase four, but I think phase six is the best spot for it, as it gives you four more frames to react to his diss track.

I grinded runes for a 100 hours. I’m now level 500 at NG+6. I don’t think I can win yet though. I need level 713 to even fight a fraction of his power

@@itsblxdezy6239 heres a tip: using a respect emote such as bowing will decrease his 18 billion hp to 1 billion. If you chug all your flasks before entering it is then reduced to 800 million. Good luck.
@@itsblxdezy6239 I....I.....I did it. I DID IT. I beat SOLDIER OF GOD, RICK's summon. It was incredible, I managed to somehow survive the first attack and when he hit phase 2 my dodging skills managed to get me to beating him. It was the greatest feeling.
Fun fact: If you try to parry him, he will not only just power through your shield, he will outright break it introducing you the the equipment repair mechanic from the old Souls games! If you never fight him, you never have to worry about equipment repair like the previous games!

I wish it was that easy, I wish. Unfortunately Soldier of Godrick is one of the worst designed and unfair bosses in Fromsoft history, I'd rather fight three Beds of Chaos and Malenia at the same time.
Soldier of Godrick is the reason people are funneled into Moonveil builds and Mimic Tear, you do not have a chance against him otherwise
The first hit is free, but landing that second hit is the real challenge. After you hit him once his evasiveness goes much further beyond pre-nerf mimic.

Guys I think I found an oversight in the game, because early on in the game you actually can get a Spirit Ash of not one, but TWO Soldiers of Godrick. I don't know what From was thinking making such an endgame-level boss into a summon you can get early.
I used them for a while actually, they were pretty handy tanking for me. 😋

Sadly, their stats were heavily nerfed compared to that hellish Boss. Still top tier af, honestly makes the game way too easy. I mean, after beating Soldier of Godrick, I can steamroll every other boss without it anyways, to be honest.
You can summon a couple of shoddy cosplayers is what it is.
Fun fact: Soldier of Godrick was widely known as the most powerful warrior in the lands between. Before the war of the shattering, the demigods recognized that he, while not a demigod himself, could easily defeat them all and potentially usurp the Elden throne for himself. Thus they conspired together to seal him into this tomb before engaging each other.

While this video is good, there's one problem: Soldier of Godrick has a second phase.
Cause no puny human is powerful enough get soldier of God to even think about going into his 2nd phase. Not to mention, he could very well have much more than a mere “second phase”.
Don’t tell anyone I said this but he has a 3rd phase right when your about to beat his 2nd one he comes into reality takes your controller and deletes the game

Thank God you put this guide out, after killing every boss in the game I came back to the beginning knowing my biggest challenge still was ahead of me. Armed with rivers of blood and moonviel I attempted this fight over 169 times. Finally I looked up a guide and realized I needed to respec into str and ground slam and finally I had a chance. Still working on this fight but thanks to you I have hope again.
I just beat Malenia… I’m finally going to head back for my 100th attempt at beating Soldier of Godrick. Pray for me.
Edit: So I finally managed to beat him, only for a cutscene to start where it’s revealed that Soldier of Godrick was actually Guts from Berserk the entire time and starting his second phase. I lasted precisely 0.73 seconds before he oneshot me with his cannon arm.
Don't pray, faith is weak in Elden Ring.

I'm shaking and crying, I've been stuck on Soldier of Godrick for two weeks now. I've died to him over 200 times.

He truly is the dark souls of elden ring enemies, you basically NEED to use either scarlet rot, akimbo seppuku katana or moonveil / rivers of blood weapon art spam, or comet azur to even have a chance at killing him, blows my mind fromsoft doesn't let you summon spirit ashes for this fight im telling you give up until your maxed out all your stats to 99

Pro tip: what i learned on my 34th attempt is in order to truly hurt him you gotta deal damage

Actually, if you look at the item description on his "Grafted Leather Thong+10" you'll actually see that he actually was Goku himself, but sadly the thong itself left him exposed to the Two Fingers.

I am ashamed to say I used cheat engine and 10X boosted carian retaliation to try and fight the Soldier of Godrick. Sadly he released the base cannon on me and told me that I leveled up dex... then smashed me into the ground :(

Damn, you really managed to beat Soldier of Godrick before level 150? Mad props, man, that takes skill.
I remember barely overcoming Rick pre-nerf. Not that the nerf wasn't needed ofc, it took me over 300 attempts of watching him destroy even my strongest builds, but I can say with absolute glee that it was worth every single death. It truly is a shame so few will get to experience that wash of relief as he finally falls, even after the patch.
All right, jokes aside, that was a pretty neat way to show how new players to the series can do more to prepare for fight's than throw their bodies at bosss until they quit the game. Elden Ring's open world letsyou run off and prepare for stuff way easier than previous titles

This is actually an incredibly genius design.
After what you've been through with *_Rick, Gød of Soldiers,_* everything else is a walk in the park.
Radagon music (called final battle) in the end was perfect. As for me, I managed to defeat the Soldier of Godrick only on the 17th attempt, and then he said: "Wait, you will see the true horror. Now, laugh!" And he killed me with a oneshot attack.
Hidden feature if you actually crouch at low health the grovel emote will trigger and the Soldier of Godrick will spare you mid attack
I just farmed for ruin fragments. Summoned two of my friends with their own ruin fragments. We took him down in just under 4 hours.

You know the hand of Malenia is a pretty viable weapon for beating him and only requires you to beat a boss which shouldn't be too much trouble, still gunna be a really tough fight but I found that getting that super easy to get weapon did help a good bit if your still stuck on him!!!!!!!

In lore I believe it states that he fought every demigod at the same time for over a year then when they were all down his master god Rick seen that he had grown too strong and sealed him in that cave he could easily break out but he chose to stay because of his loyalty forever being the soldier of god Rick.
Finally after 60h of trial. I finally made it past this brute. Since then everything is a piece of cake

I cried so many times cause I couldn't beat him. He's an unstoppable force.
I restarted with every class, tried blocking, parrying, dodging, buffs, spells, arrows but he always seems to predict my every move no matter what. Currently at NG+6, finally maxed at level 713 and about to challenge him one last time. If this can't take him down, nothing will.

You made a mistake, NG+ only makes him stronger, starting on NG+1 he gets a new move that kills you while youre entering the fog gate

When you kill the dragon you can rest at the nearby grace before it despawns and it'll both give you the runes and reset the dragon so you can kill it again.

I remember my first playthrough I accidentally rolled off into this area, I was stuck on this guy for a good 40 hours of my 120 hour playthrough, radahn i sneezed on but this guy was a different story trust me it is ridiculous you really need to get to some areas where you can get op gear before facing this guy.
I fought him with only fists as well using the ancient techniques of the ds1 backstabers. It is nice to see a guide helping those without the teachings of the past.
The Soldier of Godrick was pretty challenging I was unable to 1 hit him it tilted me pretty hard and I was unable to comprehend how I was ever going to defeat him then eventually after my 50th try I defeated him

Look at the speed of those attack he needs to be nerfed now

Dude, thank you so much! I'm in new game plus at level 270 and yet i wasn't able to beat him. This guide is truly the best if you want that tiny chance of beating him, it was clear from your video that the fight requires a lot of effort and time but with your guide it is possible!
Originally I had to practice on malenia for a couple of weeks before I could even comprehend the idea of facing such an omnipotent and powerful boss such as soldier of god Rick, and defeating him took multiple months of non stop attempts,thx for helping me defeat this absolutely insane boss on my second play through in such an incredibly timely manor 😀

The reason why early game players struggle with this fight is cause the game doesnt tell you that you have to reach level max to have at least the smallest bit of chance to beating him. With that said, the Soldier of Godrick is stupidly difficult because 99.9% of people don’t know that HE has the elden ring all along

He actually lords over the greater will, meaning you have to beat him to get any of the 'good' ending
There’s another guide on how to get somber smithing stones 1-9 if you still couldn’t beat Soldier of Godrick after this tutorial. I was still struggling so I upgraded my weapon to level 9 and beat him after only 78 attempts
Honestly I'm getting freaking TICKED off because you make it look so easy. Idk if things changed in patch 1.04, but I just keep getting stun lucked. I even decided to comb through Siofra and get the mimic tear. As soon as we jump into the air to try to crush him between our asses like a hydraulic press, he jumps up with one of those Sekiro anti-air attacks and just absolutely slaps my ass cheeks around before pushing me down a flight of stairs. Then he slides down the railing as if he was sonic the hedgehog grinding down a rail, and starts stepping on my with his boots on.
It took me a year of hard work and introspection to learn how to dodge his instant death spin attack in Phase 78. You have be in the correct 1 pixel of area to the left of the arena to dodge it.
He had to make a one shot build, because phase 2 would've been impossible
I know you’re joking about this, but I had a friend come over who has never touched a game in his life, start with the thief class and struggle beating the soldier of godrick for 5 hours straight 😂😂
Let me tell you something. Despite the words I used to let him know that there’s nothing wrong with dying and that he just started, I was backseat gaming like a mf. Watching it was so painful.
There was quite a number of streamers who struggled with this soldier for real. I could barely watch it since all it takes are two backstabs and he's done but hey, lets watch them fight the soldier for 30-50 min
This is actually me, but with wretched fighting farum azula beastman. I kept fighting the boss because the rune is trapped behind the mist, all 4k of it. I don't have the ability to level up yet, so I have to figure out the mechanics and get used to the battle. After 4 hours of trying to kill the same boss, I lost my runes. I got so pissed and just go out of the cave.
@@dusty111 honestly its even easier than that, just block a hit, guardcounter and reposte is literally all it takes
@Death Inquisitor thanks, I didn't know that. I usually use cracked tear in the later game when that happen. I'm just sharing my gruesome early game experience, because this is my first souls game. But after 100hrs and beating the game, I come to appreciate the mechanics. This game actually feels rewarding once you overcome the difficulties.
