Under the ADA, public and private employers with 15 or more employees must provide reasonable accommodations for their employees with hearing loss.
To make a request, just ASK your employer! Just make sure you do so in written form via e-mail or letter. Reasonable Accommodation Request Letter: askjan.org/media/downloads/ac...
Employers are usually more than willing to help their employees hear better in the workplace.
If your employer does not have 15 employees, you may still be in luck. Check your state to see if they have a Vocational Rehabilitation program to help you with reasonable accommodations.

This is great information! I used this as a supplement for my ADA self-advocacy lesson today! Please make a video describing Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and how that helps people with hearing loss in the college setting!

You said 60% in the work force or an educational setting. I'm a teacher and do consider myself to be in the work force. :) The educational setting does provide different challenges for teachers. My hearing loss has made me understand the frustrations of students with hearing loss. I can tell when my principal doesn't want to wear the microphone and places it the wrong way. And , turns it off to have a private conversation, but forgets to turn it back on when the private conversation is off. Or, forgets to pass it off to the speaker such as an assistant principal. I'm using the Widex microphone with a streamer device. I'm told it is just as good and has the same functionality as a Roger Pen. Is this true?

Hi Mathdreamerpi. Are you using the Widex SCOLA FM system?

Do you have any advice for a manager speaking with an employee regarding potential hearing loss? I have a person on my team that speaks very loudly and others complain. I suspect hearing loss is an issue and would like to encourage her to have her hearing evaluated but also do not want to overstep or offend.

Can you give a link to a site with acoustic tiles?

The best are the 24" x 24" ceiling tiles by Armstrong amzn.to/2EkexAw they have a .70 Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC). You can get 48" x 24" ceiling tiles amzn.to/2DTv6W0 with an NRC of .55

If you are looking for Acoustic Panels for walls, these are great amzn.to/2EiXOxx they have a perfect NRC of 1.0 which means they don't reflect any sound.
