"Mr. Wayne, Bane has balls the size of tangerines."
+Mark B LOL why doesn't this comment have more likes?
It's even funnier when you say it in his voice, oh my lord. I needed that today.
"... and any man who has balls that big, should not have them tickled."
"I didn't realise I was known for... tickling balls, Alfred."
Man those goddamn tangerines are everywhere
"So What? I beat Ra's Al Guhl I can beat Bane"
Michael Caine's Alfred will go down as the best Alfred of all time. Mark my words.
+Halo Gurrier but what makes this Alfred great is you see the bonding between the 2
Only because Jeremy Irons will be wasted on shitty writing
Obama Is A Cactus shit I thought his name was spelled my-cocaine
jeremy irons did/is doing a very fine job. a ver grumpy alfred.
I don't think his cockney accent is suited for the role, but otherwise would have been perfect. I actually prefer the Alfred from the Burton films.
Love how Alfred is using the kindest words possible trying to tell Bruce that he ain’t ready for that smoke with Bane😂😂
Looooooooooool.
Except Alfred, or any sane person, would never say something as retarded as “you ain’t ready for that smoke”.
There’s always one that has to ruin the joke for every one ☝️

When Alfred says "sometimes, a man rises from the darkness" and it shifts to the Batsuit rising up to the ground. That's some foreshadowing right there!
What Up Gangstaaa true that gangstaa
What Up Gangstaaa good catch
Christopher Nolan timing
Damn moment
Yeah for real. Bruce may have donned the cape and cowl before he went inside the pit but he definitely wasn't Batman. He was a man on a suicide mission. When Bruce emerged from the pit he emerged as Batman.
This movie made me feel like Batman actually exists & lives somewhere
I don't care what anyone says - HE DOES! :)
Which is the vibe Nolan was going for when creating this trilogy. I don’t think we will ever see this kind of take again.
That's Nolan's "Cinematic Realism" for ya. Cinematic in a sense that you still know that some parts of this film belongs in a fictional world since the source material is a comic book after all. But how its presented makes you feel like its a true story.
" sometimes a man rises from the darkness , sometimes the pit throws something back". Sometimes we need to suffer to reach our highest potential." That was the idea... batman can be anybody".
Yes 😭😭😭
"The city needs Bruce Wayne. Your resources, your knowledge. It doesn't need your body, or your life. That time has passed."
"You're afraid that if I go back out there, I'll fail."
Dennis Nguyen "No, i'm afraid that you want to"
Isaac Acevedo *rubs Batman suit*
Dennis Nguyen What an incredible exchange betweek bruce and Alfred. Really shows Alfreds in depth knowldge of an unknown threat and his great compassion and care for Bruce. And bruce shines in his love for Gotham and desire to serve. Thumbs up to Nolan, wish he was on board for the DCEU.
Best fucking words. ”I am afraid that you want to...”
"You can strap up your leg and put your mask back on, but that doesn't make you what you were."
Alfred, ever the voice of reason and caution. :-)
yeah he is i agree
Maaahsk
No one cared who he was until he put on the mask.

But in the end alfred was wrong about Bruce failing. He came out on top
Christian Bale and the villain actors may have had flashier performances, but at the end of the day Michael Caine delivered all the best lines of the trilogy.

I like how Alfred is a better detective than Bruce. They should call this movie Alfred Rises. The story of an old butler who finally wins his freedom from servitude when the last member of the rich family dies.
LOL :D
Alfred is not a better detective than Bruce.
Luke Dearey Have you seen TDK trilogy? Alfred does all the research and detective work while Mr. LeageofShadows runs around beating people up.
Sean White that's not how it's told in the Arkham series.
Luke Dearey This isn't the Arkham series. Pull your head out of your butt.
Alfred, is this one of your tangerine stories again?
If I eat these tangerines will you die?
Bane you didn't give him permission to die would you like to see what you look like 60 years from now?....Then you have MY permission to Die
***** For you.
Was'nt it about a ruby the size of a tangerine ?

I like Michael Cain's version of Alfred. Jeremy Irons was great, but with Cain, you could really see and hear the fatherly love Alfred had for Bruce, which is only natural given their history.
dude, that candy ass version of batman sucked. everyone knows the nolans batman is definitive. everyone.

0:45 Right as Alfred was talking about a man rising from a pit, the suit came up from the ground.
Damn, never realized this before! Nice find.
Sometimes the pit (dark truth/shadow realm) sends someone back (strongest of strong)
I bet Alfred got all of his rumor info on Bane from Wikipedia and by searching Google.

but how then ?
That old lazy bastard.
"You're afraid that if I go back out there, I'll fail"
"No. I'm afraid... that you want to."
This hit so close to home: I wonder how often do we find ourselves subconsciously wanting the same: to fail.
When you look into the abyss every single day there come a time it starts to look back at you. Then its only a matter of "when" you blink.
You misread it.
Sometimes, there is fear of success...
Well this is deeper . ..I think alfred meant not fail ...but to die ...
Old warriors sensing the end, want to go out fighting, and in glory
People don't know this but long before alfred became a butler for the waynes he served his country in the military in special ops. That why he was able to give advise and intel to Bruce on how to deal with character like Joker, Bane etc.
Seth Morgan is this true?
john lin yes you gotta listen to the story that he is going tell Bruce about the thief in Burma. Plus if you watch Gotham Alfred is going reveal his past to Bruce in season 1 when he starts to train him.
it is confirmed in the dark knight during the "some men just want to watch the world burn"speech , in the comicbooks too,and unlike batman he has no problem with firearms, actually some desperate crysis have been solved by alfred,in pyjama, with A FUCKING SHOTGUN.
Imagine they did some time traveling shit and bruce wayne met younger alfred....just imagine.
Knight 777 That’s corny af
Frankly, Alfred's sudden accurate knowledge of Bane is harder to explain than Bruce's magic knee brace.
There was a scene before where Alfred explicitly says he's gonna do more research and Bane was a known mercenary at the time.
Spencer Malley
And Alfred, through his research, learned things the CIA agent from the beginning didn't even know? Impressive.
Well Bruce does have access to information channels the CIA doesn't and keep in mind Alfred said they were rumours.
arbitterm He googled "Bane" and clicked I'm feeling Lucky
Frankly, you're wrong.
"But sometimes, a man rises from the darkness. Sometimes, the pit sends something back." - Says Alfred, as the Bat suit rises out of the floor. Subtle, but brilliant piece of directing by Nolan, as this sentence could quite easily appear to Bruce/Batman. They both share a lot of elements. Bane is what Bruce would have become if he'd stayed with the league.
Neither of them stayed with the League.
@Dawson
Correct; Bruce was too good and bane too evil to stay with the league
Why are people going crazy over this obvious on the nose editing 😂
because the bar is so hilariously low that decent work is seen as masterful
Caine’s Alfred did a phenomenal job hyping up the villains Joker and Bane in their respective films. He understands these villains better than anyone. From “some men just want to watch the world burn” to “sometimes a man rises from the darkness; sometimes the Pit sends something back”
Yeah I never realised it but Alfred is essentially the villain hypeman. Who is he working for again?
@@falcodarkzz for the elitist rich boy who thinks crime can be pounded away jk (sort of)
Oh my God. Such a powerful and emotional scene. The look on Bruce's face on 1:40 when Alfred is trying to make him reconsider, it's as if Bruce is no longer understands how else he can give back to his city without giving out his own life.
The part at the end of this movie, where he's apologizing to the gravestones still chokes me up. I haven't seen another alfred come along that really nailed the character the way Micheal Cane does. He exhibits experience, badassery and genuine compassion so well. He's such a good actor, another movie he absolutely kills it in is the Prestige.
I noticed a really cool consistency. You notice the scar on Bruces left arm at 1:08? I'm 99% sure that's from the dog bite at the beginning of The Dark Knight. Not many directors would think to do that, that's what makes Nolan movies so special.
The most wholesome things about this scene is under all that wisdom, what essentially there is paternal love. Alfred literally doesn't want him to go out there is because he knows Bruce will die and he can't live with that. Alfred really was the father that stood up.
I love how this scene illustrates Bruce and Alfred's ever-growing distant relationship. In 'The Dark Knight', Alfred would speak to Bruce in front of the Batsuit within nose-length and in 'Rises', Alfred speaks from a couple meters away. I love the subtleties that Nolan includes in his movies :)
That's a reach. It's more like they wanted a shot of the suit in the back, so didn't want to frame them together.
I bet you're right. Scene block can really change the vibe. The physical distance embodies maybe the emotional distance between him and Bruce as of late
@@Magnus-pm7icit is not. Before in the movies they researched together, e.g. the Bullet.
If Alfred gives you advice its better to obey.
Yes. Bruce felt like he didn't have anything left to live for, so he was operating with a sort-of subconscious death wish during the first half of the movie. That was the basis of the conversation with the doctor in the prison: the fact that Bruce stopped caring whether he lived or not was actually holding him back, since self-preservation-the fear of death-is the most powerful "impulse of the spirit" and enables one to do extraordinary things.
Every audience I saw this with was constantly laughing at Alfred, all they wanted was action and never embraced the true emotion this story gave.
What a bunch of idiots....
Micheal Kana was one of the best in the entire trilogy, and that includes Heath Ledger and Tom Hardy. Anyone who laughs at him truly is an idiot.
Why did they laugh? Cause of his accent? I'll admit that I like to imitate him every now and then but this is one of those moments where laughing is not appropriate.
1:44 The utter desperation of Alfred trying to convince Bruce not to put the suit back on, you can even hear it in his voice; excellent performance by Sir Micael Caine!
And some men just want to blow the bloody doors off!
My name is Michael Caine, not a lot of people know that.
“is it really painful”
“you’re very welcome to try it alfred”
“happy watching, thank you sir”
😂😂😂😂
Bane is severely beaten and mutilated, resulting in him being in constant excruciating pain. He wears a mask to help him cope with the pain, it's still agonizing for him on a day-to-day basis but it's bearable. Despite these shortcomings, he still manages to create Terror around the world and puts the fear up those that know of his existents.
Bruce has a bad leg... So he can't come into work today.
the magic knee brace was one of the stupidest things in the entire triology. And what was with his kicking a brick wall to pieces after he put it on. He might be healed but he's still batman...aka no real powers.
@@daspoon456 5 years late but batman is strong as shit and he can break walls normally. I mean check out bane in the final battle when he punched that pillar. Those who train under the league if shadows are strong motherfuckers. Even after 8 years of doing nothing he still had the strength to break that brick wall. Goes to show you how efficient their training is.
daspoon456 Search up “exoskeleton”, you’re welcome. Tf you mean magic knee brace? 💀
Michael Caine is one hell of an actor
This is why Alfred is Batman's Batman.
His hero
Alfred : “No, I am afraid… that you want to [fail].”
What Alfred means is that he KNOWS Bruce has a strong “martyr” tendency. There is a part of Bruce that wants martyrdom… to die for the city like his own dad.
Nolan includes this because he knows that no one in his right mind will try to be Batman, unless they have some martyr-suicidal tendency.
That, and who would manage Wayne Enterprises and the vast Wayne fortune in Bruce's stead? The corruption in Gotham is apparent as green in goose shit and the people of the city would be far less fortunate without Bruce's heart and mind in operation.
@@AnswerisB Batman beyond
@@Chrisontime don't think that was set up in this trilogy Robin didn't become a thing until the end of it and that was implication
Bruce is just depressed. His parents death traumatized him, he lost Rachel and later realizes she chose Harvey Dent over him, and Batman is now a wanted fugitive for a lie that he must uphold. As a result he’s a seclude. But once he hears that a threat is on the horizon he essentially wants to use that to die. He’s depressed, lonely, sad and in emotional pain. He just wants to end it all
Hey wassup
What i loved about Michael Caine's Alfred was he always giving advice, words of support and caution while also explaining his own life experiences to Bruce to help give him a better understanding of the kind of people he comes across and the sort of situations that he could find himself in, Alfred always felt like more like a father figure than butler and all his scenes in the trilogy were just pure gold with so much warmth in his dialogue thanks to the wonderful performances of Michael Caine. H really was the the glue that held all three of these movies together and was a true difference maker.

I've always LOVED this look of the Batcave. Not only does it look amazing, considering it's a set and not real, but the whole idea of it was cool. Instead of hiding the entrance to the cave like every other version, this one hides the contents inside the cave so just in case someone stumbled across it, they wouldn't find everything.
I really dislike the way the Batcave looks in the DCEU. They made it more like the inside of an office building and it just looks bland.
It's a bit more unbelievable if you ask me. The problem is all this stuff is meticulously integrated and highly specific. And clearly Bruce and Alfred didn't build it themselves. Kinda hard to explain to a bunch of architects and engineers why you want a submersible platform under your mansion with a retractable armory, computer, and heli-pad unless you want to make it obvious you're Batman.
With the DCEU version it just feels like a suped up basement. I can buy the idea that Bruce can hire an architect and some engineers to build him that without it raising any suspicion because I've seen plenty of videos of rich people owning really tricked out man-caves, bunkers, and stuff like that. After that it's a lot easier to just fill up that more generalized space with all the tech they need after the fact. Much less conspicuous.
@@hiimchrisj does the DCEU one’s secret underwater entrance still feel like just a “suped up basement”?

Micheal Caine’s voice, demeanor, reasoning and knowledge, makes him the Best Played Alfred to date. You can see the caring and love he has for Bruce. One of his best lines…. Some people just like to watch the world burn.
This trilogy of the Batman played by Bale to me is hands down The best Batman portrayed.
Do I only think that Batman's Trilogy is better than every thing Marvel movies, In my opinion the story of Batman, story about little child that lost parents and will to live, and then he grew up and became a hero, is more interesting than a story about a rich man in Iron Armor, what do you think? Are you agree?
You're correct, pay no attention to the fucking idiot above me
Friedrich Nietzsche oh, fuck off Marvel is such a crowd pleaser, 1 2 3 joke 1 2 3 action 1 2 3 joke, and so on, Batman v Superman was great, Peter Travers of Rolling Stone, and Mark Hughes are real critics with credibility and they gave it a great review, not just click bait bullshit ragging on a film for things they either don't understand or agree with for online bottom feeders, Fight Club and Bottle Rocket were both films that were panned when they came out initially, Rotten Tomaetoes gave Fellowship of the Ring a low 60 when it first came out, but it's funny how you claim to have a revelation yet immediately hop on a faction of online cynicism, form your own opinions conformist!
+Friedrich Nietzsche because killing someone doesn't end crime you can't fix something by doing something which is equally wrong the only reason Batman is my fave is he refuses to walk down the same path as criminals his code for not killing someone shows humanity in the end without him Gotham would be pretty fucked up he alone restores the balance
+Friedrich Nietzsche At least DC try something new.. unlike marvel who just try to make the same movie over and over again with lame jokes and " hoorayy we save the city!!" ending. Stupid.
naufal ufan read my mind
Beautifully parallel to Alfred’s explanation of the Joker’s motives in The Dark Knight. Guess The Dark Knight Rises is the perfect blend of the two previous instalments and hence the perfect conclusion to this epic trilogy.
There's some sneaky foreshadowing in this film:
"Sometimes a man rises from the darkness. Sometimes the pit sends something back."- Happens with Batman.
John Blake tells Bruce "They'll figure it out in the end." about Batman being the true hero.
"I won't bury you."- Bruce actually lives.
Alfred talking like a ESPN reporter
He had traveled around the world when he was younger and he knew a vast amount of people, which he would be able obtain a vast amount of knowledge from. He also use to be an SAS.
"You're very welcome to try it Alfred" I died
I often keep forgetting Batman is a mere mortal like us because his character is so timeless. So every comic, cartoon, and movie depicting his aging (including this one), makes it bittersweet.
" There is a prison in a more ancient part of the world. A pit where men are thrown to suffer and die. But sometimes a man rises from the darkness. Sometimes the pit sends something back "
Theory: What alfred described about the pit and the person that rises from implies Bane is one version of Batman - both of them come from a place of darkness and both wield great powers. The difference lies in the their philosophies.
2 sides to the force. The left feels like destruction of everything is a more positive yielding effect... it stops so much suffering, erases debt.
The right wants to fix everything no matter how painful and slow the process. We're seeing this in real time.
Gotham was only worth saving because Bruce Wayne... you gotta live. You gotta empower the living.
Not just stop evil.
Batman lost to bane when there was no Bruce Wayne.
Batman defeated Bane when Bruce Wayne was back in the swing of things.
Bruce is worth saving. A Batman without A Bruce Wayne underneath ====== just a bitter loser.

The foreshadowing in this scene is absolutely Nolan. Batman suit rising from the ground as Alfred talks about the Pit. Fantastic layering and use of symbolism.
Love the part where he says
“Sometimes a man rises from darkness”
And you see the bat suit slowly rising from the ground
Pay attention the soundtrack, it added more depth to the scene. Hans Zimmer is a genius!

Happy watching.. thank you sir
I really like this version of the lazarus pit, it only works in this series, it wouldn't work in the comics or animated movies, but here it just works so well
I love how everyone acknowledges that Bruce is nowhere near the power house he was before. Alfred says even with his injuries heal. He isn't what he was. And bane says "peace has cost you your strength, victory has defeated you". Explains why he was so pathetic in their first fight. Not saying the version from the dark Knight would win but he would put so much of a better fight
Batman begins Bruce beat ras so yea he beats bane by default the fight for gothams soul with the joker took a lot out of Bruce and the scars it left showed when he fought bane
He hasn’t been Batman for 8 years. Not shocking Bane kicked his ass the 1st time

Thank you for uploading THIS.
The writing, directing, acting etc all top notch in these films.
I love how bruce still has a scar on his left arm from the dogs in the dark knight (when alfred sewed him up). Great continuity.
For those who don't know Bruce has trained his body and mind to peak human perfection, that's why it makes sense to me that he kicked through the brick wallside
I thought he had some kinda mechanical support system
He kicked a tree in half in Batman: Year One.
idk bro, looks like he's been skipping leg day in this clip
The whole “afraid” speech hits so close to home. We battle everyday but its true, maybe we want to fail
Alfred had failed to realize that the League of Shadows had infiltrated Wane Industries, but he was right to think that Bruce was taking things far too lightly.

He's really explaining them to us, the audience. Part of the story telling.
OMG Alfred’s lines in this scene. All his love and wisdom for Bruce
That embraces everything great between the relationship of Bruce and Alfred. In the Dark Knight Returns of Frank Miller, Alfred warns about return as Batman. He says is madness and dangerous but he only cares about his "son". Bruce in other way, needs to be Batman again, his obsesion is the only thing who make him feel alive. And Nolan's vision on that scene is a perfect mirror of that comic book.
This movie may have flaws which i am aware of but i still f*cking love the movie. To all the haters just cause theres a few plot holes that doesn't mean you have to hate the movie and just nit pick the hell out of it. Like every movie has plot holes. I bet The Dark Knight has some, do i hate it?...Not even a little bit.
at the end of the day...it's about how entertaining and emotionally connecting the film is....and this film does just that. Is it as good a film as the dark knight? No...but god damn on a visceral pulp level....this movie fucking conquered
Kingslayer64 i thought the Dark Knight was too long for what it was... and vastly overrated on the back of Heath Ledger (who was every bit as good as advertised). THIS is a far superior film.
penoyer79 i respectfully disagree. while I liked TDKR it doesn't have anything TDK imo.
Lol interesting you thought TDK was too long when it was about 2 hr 30 min and TDKR was 2 hr 45 min....i thought rises was too long. but i don't understand all the hate for TDKR
It's easily the weakest of the 3 and it's Nolan's worst movie to date but it's still good.
