- As the Supreme Court is set to rule on whether a former president is shielded from criminal immunity, potential Trump running mate Republican Sen. J.D. Vance tells "Face the Nation" that he's "very confident" that the Supreme Court will "recognize some broad element of presidential discretion." "The president has to be able to do his job in the same way that police officers, judges and prosecutors enjoy some immunity - that principle has to apply to the president."

The Supreme Court in 1982 has already held in Nixon v. Fitzgerald that presidents are immune from damages in civil suits for actions taken while in office.

Presidents should have absolute immunity. After all, how would they be able to commit crimes or international crimes for that matter. I love that I could be prosecuted for not showing up for jury duty but anyone with power(both governmental and corporate) can do whatever they like with no consequences. The lady can take her blindfold off now. Some of us know how the world works and it's only a matter of time before most of us do.
