    Donate the pillows to hospices and hospitals! Often, patients need something to hold, or need extra little pillows to hold their head up or support their elbows. Even if they're small pillows, we still find use for them in these settings :)

    I have really bad anxiety, so I make myself tiny little pillows from fluffy or soft fabrics that make me happy and fill them with stuffing and dried flower petals from my favourite flowers. I have them in my handbag and on my desk at work and when I need some comfort, I have something comforting to hold and smelling the flowers helps me slow down my breathing

  • @myrrhfishify7743
    @myrrhfishify7743 Před 7 lety +1

    Hi, your ideas are really great! I like that you use your dress form for draping. For shorts, to do the crotch seam, the easiest way is to put one leg inside the other (right sides together) and sew the seam. You have to do it to picture it. It works, it is much easier than your method. Try it! For the tiny pillow--if you want to make a pincushion, stuff with batting rather than scraps, or if using scraps, make sure it is stuffed pretty tightly. If you want to use it as a dream pillow, you can stuff with buckwheat hulls and use some essential oil like lavender, or potpourri and put it on your bed. Use the soft pillow filled with scraps as a wrist rest for using your mouse. Or, instead of a pillow, make a small drawstring bag for coins, makeup and so on, or make it with a foldover top and attach a long strap for a mini purse...the list goes on.

    I don't think you mentioned it (maybe I missed it) and it may seem self explanatory to some people, but make sure the maxi skirt you choose is made of a stretchy material or these DIYs won't work! 😘 This is awesome though, love that you used all your scraps and everything! If you put a squeaker in it the little pillow could be a dog toy, just make sure to supervise them while playing so they don't rip it open and ingest any scraps!

    • @April-vc9rq
      @April-vc9rq Před 7 lety +2

      why won't it work with another fabric?

    • @marlene0c
      @marlene0c Před 7 lety +11

      April it may work with a non stretchy fabric, but you'll not get the same results. the crop top, for example, would not fit you If the fabric didn't stretch.

    • @neocat81
      @neocat81 Před 7 lety +4

      also a neck line has to stretch to go over the head. it will just lay differently.

    • @xAnicsi
      @xAnicsi Před 7 lety +6

      The crop top could be possible if you add a zipper then, but that's just way too complicated for a top like that. So yeah, stretch is definitely better

    • @marlene0c
      @marlene0c Před 7 lety +1

      For her it would probably work, but we must remember that if someone with bigger boobs decides to try it with a non stretchy fabric, it will be a waste of money and time. I've been there and done that, unfortunately.

      It depends on how long you're willing to take. You can do it on a machine if you have the proper strength of needle. I've hand sewn a leather vest, and gloves, using a triangle-shaped head regular needle with button thread. This winter I wore the gloves leaving the seam side out.

    Seven years later, I've just begun my thrifting/flipping/sewing journey. And am obsessed with converting dresses to or making my own two piece sets for this summer. But the three pieces that can be worn separately or as sets. 😍 I love that you can wear crop on very hot days & the Tee on days where you need some more coverage or just don't feel like too breezy. 😅 will definitely recreate.
    Also kudos to having content that is still up to date & relevant 7 years later. I've been enjoying all the thrift flips so far. 💜

    Tiny pillow : stress toy, doll pouf, pin cushion, brooch holder, posture corrector (lie on your back on flat surface with cushion on the vertebra that sticks out), wrist rest for people who type or even draw/write a lot, "pocket shape" to make sure you sew pockets with enough space inside to put stuff in, a scrunchie holder (for only 2 or 3 though 😂), if you have two you can put them in your lowest bra (when you pile them up) so they don't get squished in you drawers, a pillow for a cute smol sleepy cuddly toy ❤️

    Although I think using the pillow to throw it at your brother when he annoys you is a legit option, I have an idea. If you know someone who has a kid that plays with dolls, it could be used as like a pillow, or maybe some type of cushion to sit on if it's a smaller doll like a Barbie.

    You are so talented! Everything looks so cute on you too! I had another idea for your final scraps, you could make fabric flowers for accents to pin on tops, purses, at waistbands, what do you think?

    That's really amazing! I love it, because you didn't make a mini-skirt! (too obvious ;))
    I enjoyed the two t-shirt ideas most.
    Could you try to do this kind of video with an old jeans that doesn't fit anymore?

    For the last diy maybe if someone else tries it and has enough for a little pencil pouch or coin purse that could be more useful than a pillow? I'm not sure what I would use that pillow for but the idea of stuffing it with the little scraps is a really good idea!
    Also I think the sleeves for the contrast trim tshirt could have looked cool with some tie off sleeves as well! (if you have enough extra fabric)

    Another creative and inspiring video April. If you cut the last bit in a slightly different shape, you could make an eye pillow. Stuff it with the leftover scraps and add some lavender, maybe some rice or flax to add some weight and you have a nice eye pillow. Or, you might make a neck pillow. The small pillow you did make could be a wrist rest for a mouse. I have a roller mouse and use a small pillow, similar in size and shape to what you made. It's really great.
