you can stuff the pillow with rice and use it for cramps or injuries
Noemi Tejeda Yes!! Great idea!
Noemi Tejeda Yes! that is!
Add in some lavender leaves and essential oil, and it makes a very good stress reliever too!
Noemi Tejeda I was think the same think. I thought that's what she was gonna do
I didn't think of that! good point!!!
You can use your pillow to put your watch or bracelets! It cool
I was originally going to say pincushion, but I like this bracelet/watch organizer idea more! :D
if the material is cotton...you can put pillow in microwave for 30 seconds and use for neck pain or headache.
Evelyn Villanueva no, you can't, it's not filled with anything that would work for that, it needs to be filled with a material that holds heat
emily mulcahy thats why I said cotton...cotten can be microwaved .... off course it should be 100% cotton.
Chicasinsentido DIY I
Can donate those little pillows to breast cancer center nearby. Good for patients who recently had mastectomies. Pillows are placed under the axilla for comfort and can be used to protect the incision. Clinic I work are at are constantly in low supplies.
I actually kinda liked your way of sewing the elastic waistband to the shorts, I hate pushing elastic through casing haha plus it means it won't flip around!
Annika Victoria I love Make Thrift Buy!!! ❤❤
Annika Victoria I thought the same thing! I hate it when the elastic gets twisted inside the casing.
Annika Victoria I LOVE YOU AND I ALMOST SENT YOU THIS
Came to say the same thing!
Donate the pillows to hospices and hospitals! Often, patients need something to hold, or need extra little pillows to hold their head up or support their elbows. Even if they're small pillows, we still find use for them in these settings :)
That's an awesome idea! Thanks for sharing!
Emilie Bouchard Yes wonderful idea! God bless!
Old pillows in hospitals? Kinda unsanitary
Well, it's stuffed with fabric scraps from the maxi skirt, so doesn't that mean the whole thing is machine washable?
That's true
On contracted patients we roll up a pillow case or put a kerlex in their hand
It helps prevent skin breakdown when skin isn't touching skin
When April can turn a skirt into 6 things but you can't even make your clothes match. Anyways late #snapfam
Lol ikr
lol
You think you're late?
I think I'm late 😂
I think I win the late card right now. Until someone else shows up😂 I'm gonna be late to my own funeral
If you stuff the tiny pillow with rice and lavender it would make a nice heating pad!
If it's a synthetic - anything other than cotton - it will melt in the microwave. It looked like her skirt was synthetic.
I have really bad anxiety, so I make myself tiny little pillows from fluffy or soft fabrics that make me happy and fill them with stuffing and dried flower petals from my favourite flowers. I have them in my handbag and on my desk at work and when I need some comfort, I have something comforting to hold and smelling the flowers helps me slow down my breathing
That's so sweet!
Yes😍lavender pillows! Genius🙏💜💜💜👃🌾
I really love the crop top paired with those shorts. Such a cute combo!
Tiny pillow: add some aroma therapy (essential oil or dryer sheet) put inside clutch 👛 or shoes 👠 to keep the shape & smell awesome.
This really makes me want to learn how to sew!! Talk about money saver! That crop top is SO adorable especially with the shorts!
"I'm most likely going to use it to throw at my brother when he annoys me" honestly same.😂
You could use the small pillow as a watch holder!
I was working on a project that I had a ton of scraps left over from. A while ago I made a fish-shaped "tiny pillow" and put a pocket on the outside for catnip. My mom's cat loves it!
Hi, your ideas are really great! I like that you use your dress form for draping. For shorts, to do the crotch seam, the easiest way is to put one leg inside the other (right sides together) and sew the seam. You have to do it to picture it. It works, it is much easier than your method. Try it! For the tiny pillow--if you want to make a pincushion, stuff with batting rather than scraps, or if using scraps, make sure it is stuffed pretty tightly. If you want to use it as a dream pillow, you can stuff with buckwheat hulls and use some essential oil like lavender, or potpourri and put it on your bed. Use the soft pillow filled with scraps as a wrist rest for using your mouse. Or, instead of a pillow, make a small drawstring bag for coins, makeup and so on, or make it with a foldover top and attach a long strap for a mini purse...the list goes on.
WOW that top was genius!! I'm going to try it with old fabrics that I have 💙💙💙
DIYlover missing ur videos plsss make moree
HIIIIIIIIIII OMG YOU'RE AN INSPIRATION!!! I've watched your videos ever since you started, i swear! I'm a senior fashion design student this year and honestly i can say that you were part of the reason i started sewing too because i wanted to be able to make things like you!!!!! Im inspired each time i watch your videos..I LIVE TO WATCH YOUR VIDEOS! ;)
Panyia Xiong dedication, fans like you are so proud and it’s so cute 😂
This is an awesome diy especially since the maxi skirt trend is on and off
I don't think you mentioned it (maybe I missed it) and it may seem self explanatory to some people, but make sure the maxi skirt you choose is made of a stretchy material or these DIYs won't work! 😘 This is awesome though, love that you used all your scraps and everything! If you put a squeaker in it the little pillow could be a dog toy, just make sure to supervise them while playing so they don't rip it open and ingest any scraps!
why won't it work with another fabric?
April it may work with a non stretchy fabric, but you'll not get the same results. the crop top, for example, would not fit you If the fabric didn't stretch.
also a neck line has to stretch to go over the head. it will just lay differently.
The crop top could be possible if you add a zipper then, but that's just way too complicated for a top like that. So yeah, stretch is definitely better
For her it would probably work, but we must remember that if someone with bigger boobs decides to try it with a non stretchy fabric, it will be a waste of money and time. I've been there and done that, unfortunately.
the little pillow can be filled with a bit of dried catnip and used as a cat toy! you can buy thoses at pet stores so hey why not make one yourself :)
how about a leather jacket? would love to see how much you can make from that!
Angelique Thale yessss
Isn't it really hard to sow through leather?
idahval yes it's hard, but a plastic presser foot helps with the sliding of the fabric 😃
It depends on how long you're willing to take. You can do it on a machine if you have the proper strength of needle. I've hand sewn a leather vest, and gloves, using a triangle-shaped head regular needle with button thread. This winter I wore the gloves leaving the seam side out.
The fact that you even thought to do all of this is amazing...and then it all looks great. Awesome!
Seven years later, I've just begun my thrifting/flipping/sewing journey. And am obsessed with converting dresses to or making my own two piece sets for this summer. But the three pieces that can be worn separately or as sets. 😍 I love that you can wear crop on very hot days & the Tee on days where you need some more coverage or just don't feel like too breezy. 😅 will definitely recreate.
Also kudos to having content that is still up to date & relevant 7 years later. I've been enjoying all the thrift flips so far. 💜
Tiny pillow : stress toy, doll pouf, pin cushion, brooch holder, posture corrector (lie on your back on flat surface with cushion on the vertebra that sticks out), wrist rest for people who type or even draw/write a lot, "pocket shape" to make sure you sew pockets with enough space inside to put stuff in, a scrunchie holder (for only 2 or 3 though 😂), if you have two you can put them in your lowest bra (when you pile them up) so they don't get squished in you drawers, a pillow for a cute smol sleepy cuddly toy ❤️
Omg guys I have a business idea 😂
I heart this! So creative, and I love how you have two matching tops for the shorts, all from a great fabric pattern.
omg never thought of using maxi skirts other than as a dress. love it
I Love the no-waste DIY!!!!!! Thank you 💙
I love how simple this transformation is, with the only necessary item being the skirt! I also love how many items can be made from it. Makes me want to create!! Thank you coolirpa!
Could've made a small clutch bag with the scraps.
Esme Young the cloth was too thin and maybe she didn't have some material to add to it. Great idea btw.
Esme Young or pencil case
Crochet Queen True
Although I think using the pillow to throw it at your brother when he annoys you is a legit option, I have an idea. If you know someone who has a kid that plays with dolls, it could be used as like a pillow, or maybe some type of cushion to sit on if it's a smaller doll like a Barbie.
Sara Cooper That is such a good idea! My grandma used to make Barbie pillows and blankets for me with her fabric scraps. :)
my grandma used to do the same! she made pillows and any other type of decorations for my Barbie house. She is a "go big or go home" type of woman, so she even put a mini lace trim all over the edges of the pillows and blanket for my Barbie bed, it was pink and white I'll never forget it!
Haha, mine added lace too! Grandmas are the real MVP's.
That is funny. Before she said she didn't know what to do with it I thought "cute, she is making a doll pillow".
I was thinking that too. The size she made it would be perfect to be a couch cushion for an American Girl doll
The tiny pillow from scraps is such a GREAT idea 😀 it inspired me to make tiny pillows of all the scrap material I have as memory of all the types of fabrics Ive used over the years. 🤗 Little pillow mountain of memories 💘
I'm wearing the shorts right now! Absolutely love them. You explain it so well, thank you!
omg you keep amaze me every time, there is no limit for your talent 💜💜
It would be neat to see what you can do for accessories and fashion jewelry with scraps! Fabric bracelets, necklaces / chokers, pendants, brooches and earrings! You are so creative. 💕
I can't believe you did all of that with one maxi skirt. You're brilliant! This is a great way to upcycle.
I love that mini pillow idea!! I always have scraps going to waist I think it would be fun to decorate with or give to friends .. even just play with ..I just love how cute that is
Make three complete outfits out of one prom dress
Sydni Furtado That'll probably be difficult to do.
This would seriously be soooo useful!!!!!!!! i feel so bad that I don't have anywhere to where it now...
omg yes! my prom dress has been sitting in my wadrobe for 3/4 years it's a long white dress and I wish I could change it into a summer dress!
Yeah! you could probably make a skirt, belt, jacket, choker, and hairpiece out of the material.
Depending on the kind of fabric, it might take dye well if you have a favorite color. Or, even the shave-cream method would be fun. I'd seam rip it first and wash/iron to make sure any extra dye-resistant chemicals are removed. Would love to see a link to what you make.
I would use the small pillow as a pin/needle holder
Love the flowy shorts and the t-shirt, I think those two were perfect together! The pattern was a great choice too.
I made the shorts, the top and the headband following this tutorial and i really love it.The instructions were super clear and i was able to do for the first time a waist band casing that i've never done before. This video deserves more views.
Thanks April.
Very clever! I saw someone make fabric weights from tiny pillows. I thought that was a great idea since they are expensive to buy. 😜
Idea: Instead of making a tiny pillow stuffed with scraps, stuff it mostly with uncooked rice. Now you can pop it in the microwave for a few seconds and you got yourself a mini heatpad!
Additional ideas with any other remaining fabric: chokers, hairbands, butt pockets of a pair of denim shorts, lining the inside of the front pockets of a pair of denim shorts, mini stuffed animal keychain, dog chew toy, coasters, keychain chapstick holder :D
I'm a scraps horder so I'm always figuring out what to do with leftovers. I hate throwing things away....
Paulina Lobato I am the same way, hate to throw things away unnecessarily and you have great ideas for the scraps.
What I love is that now you have some coordinating pieces to mix and match!
Make a tiny pillow to use all up extra scraps! What a great idea!! ❤ I'll have to try it soon!
I live on CZcams. lol I clicked on this video so fast! 😂😂🔫🤣🤣
if the pillow is smaller it can be used as diy mothball (filled with lavender or cedar chips) or bigger as a cherry pit pillow
Carona What is a cherry pit pillow?
Amber S A cherry pillow as alternativ version of a hot water bottle. just put it in the mikrowave.
If the fabric can be ironed the pillow can be used to help you iron curved seams
Yes please make more of these! One item into many items! Loved this
I love what you make, I wish I knew how to use a sewing machine because I'd love to make and alter clothes for myself. 😭👌🏼❤️ never too late to learn I suppose
i love the crop top and shorts set! and i would use the pillow as a pincushion :)
I found this channel a couple of hours ago and I've been binge watching. I subscribed even though I can't sew to save my life. This woman is mad talented and I'm in complete awe.
Soo creative! I love when people are creative and different. Thank you for this!
i love those shorts i wish i knew how to sew but i think this is my first comment on here hi!
Check Eventbrite. I went to a class that was listed there to learn sewing.
Hi :)!
Put essential oils on it and use as a scent boost in draws or wardrobe to make clothes smell nice.
We ysed to call that a sachet (sah shay). We also used bars of Yardley's English lavender soap(still wrapped). They're now available at the dollar store.
Absolutely love the contrasting trim tee!
This is so interesting. I recently learned to sew, but not clothing related. This is definitely a fresh channel with unique things I haven't already seen everywhere.
snap quadddd!!!!😂😂😂❤❤❤ I love you
I love the way you do reconstructions to everything, you make things, you create new ones!! Do you ever throw anything ? I guess not!! You're my inspiration
When you put that crop top and shorts outfit together I was like BOOM! Blown away. That was fantastic!!
I love seeing what you make out of thrifted clothing. I want to turn things that don't fit anymore but I still love the patterns on into something new. When I do I'm so going to share my designs with you!
I'm always checking if you upload 😂😂💙
I love it
I have granddaughters and I make tons of tiny pillows for barbies and American Girl dolls. Uses up my scraps and makes them happy! Win win!
The combo of the shorts and the crop top are so cute together
How about how many things you can make from 1 pair of jeans?! 🤓
You are so talented! Everything looks so cute on you too! I had another idea for your final scraps, you could make fabric flowers for accents to pin on tops, purses, at waistbands, what do you think?
J Nelsimpson Good idea
Awesome how you made so many projects from the one piece of clothing! That print was so pretty!!!
Brilliant. I'm getting so many ideas from watching your tutorials. Thanks so much for doing them.
You can use the small pillow for your knees for when you are cutting out things!
And praying:)
That's really amazing! I love it, because you didn't make a mini-skirt! (too obvious ;))
I enjoyed the two t-shirt ideas most.
Could you try to do this kind of video with an old jeans that doesn't fit anymore?
i am living for this crop top + flowy shorts combo😍 i can't wait to try this!!
You are tooo good.. 👌👌
And, that tiny pillow can be used as duster for a chalk board as well...😊
luv your vids
#Snapchat fam . You're such an inspiration person and amazing! I wish I have a talent like this! 😭❤️
Laney Nie Yeah, I sew but I wish I had her talent to do all this DIYs faster like she does. I'm super slow at sewing 😢
@Yuo7766 its okay, it's take time. Just have faith in yourself.
That maxi skirt though...I would wear that all day every day!
That pillow will be for my teddy 🙌🏻 I already have one too
Hahahahahhah IM GLAD I CLICKED THAT BELL 🔔AND I CLICKED THIS SUPER FAST!!!!
For the last diy maybe if someone else tries it and has enough for a little pencil pouch or coin purse that could be more useful than a pillow? I'm not sure what I would use that pillow for but the idea of stuffing it with the little scraps is a really good idea!
Also I think the sleeves for the contrast trim tshirt could have looked cool with some tie off sleeves as well! (if you have enough extra fabric)
Love how this works for every size! I have a few knit maxis I got free (but I don't wear skirts much) and now I don't have to give all of them away, neat!
Another creative and inspiring video April. If you cut the last bit in a slightly different shape, you could make an eye pillow. Stuff it with the leftover scraps and add some lavender, maybe some rice or flax to add some weight and you have a nice eye pillow. Or, you might make a neck pillow. The small pillow you did make could be a wrist rest for a mouse. I have a roller mouse and use a small pillow, similar in size and shape to what you made. It's really great.
I would love to see what you would do with a thrifted wedding dress or veil! I was gifted a vintage train veil, but it's just sitting in my fabric closet!
Can you make a video on how to hem? I would really appreciate it!!!!
I absolutely LOVE those ideas!Instead of the pillow, you could have also made a tiny little bag for little things, so you'd be able to find them in your backpack.
This is one of the many reasons why I LOVE watching your videos!! *Keeponsewing*
make an herb sac with rice and lavender oil/herbs helps with anxiety and stress 10/10 would do
I was going to say the same! Could also make little pouches to stick in your wardrobe to make things smell nice too :)
I'd probably shove the tiny pillow under my cat anytime I see him sleeping.
😃😃😃
You're so talented I'm shook. I've been binge watching your videos for the past week and every time I'm just as amazed at how creative and beautiful your projects are!
I'm making a skirt and was thinking of making a t-shirt with contrast like you did here to go with the skirt. Wasn't sure if it would look right. Now I know - YES!
you can fill in the pillow with some seed and make an heating pad
For bracelets
ONE OF THE BEST AND MOST CREATIVE VIDEOS EVER! CRYIN!
Honestly I don't know if I want to watch your videos anymore because I love seeing the transformations but once it's done I get so frustrated because I want the finished products!!!!!! Wish I could actually purchase the transformed items !!!!!
snapfam snapfam snapfam ♡♡♡ #snapfam #snapchat
no views when I clicked, but now.... should have commented first
I'm obsessed with all of your videos! You are super talented, makes me wish I was creative and knew how to sew!
i LOVE that contrast tee!!! so adorable
maybe a pair of jeans ..
1 maxi skirt = 1 DIY for fat person (me) lol
Julia Saeore that's what I was thinking too 😂 I'd make the shorts and I'd be out of fabric
I'd totally make pants instead. Or a shorter foofy skirt.
i've been binge watching your videos for like a month now, and 2 weeks ago i finally bought a sewing machine!! I've made like 6 things in 2 weeks!! Thanks for literally being an inspiration!!
I loooove how you shredded all the small left overs and put them into the bag and didn't just throw them away ! I've saved small pieces just to do that 😂😂
